Chapter 15: Forest

“I’m thirsty, and I want my original clothes back. There’s something important left there. Can you get it for me?” They looked at each other again after hearing what I said.

Their eyes were talking about what they should do. Whether they will follow what I asked or they will keep an eye on me.

I felt a sudden breeze brushing my legs. It gave an icy feeling to the top of my body. I hug myself to prevent the cold I felt.

I looked to my knees; they were red from the cold air hitting my skin. Honestly, I wasn’t comfortable in this kind of clothes.

I need to change my clothes to avoid any difficulties in escaping, but there’s no time. Why do I sleep so fast? But it’s not my fault either, maybe because I’m tired.

It has been a while, but I didn’t receive any answer from these two maids. I think this plan of mine won’t work. I can’t do it if these two were her and keeping an eye on me.

I need them out of my sight so that I can succeed in fleeing. So that I won’t be here once Reign comes home. I never agreed to be here, so there’s no need for his permission if I can get out or not.

“Sure, miss, but you’ll need to wait inside,” the maid on the left side said, “to make sure that you won’t be able to escape,” she added.

I crossed my arms and composed myself while looking at them. I let out a silent sigh. These maids are hard as a rock, and they won’t budge.

I’m having a hard time escaping because they are cautious about me. It seems that these two already know what I’m planning to do.

Maybe Reign already told them that I will plan to sneak out of this place, or Elliott tells them that I plan to get out of this place.

I secretly set my teeth on edge. I feel agitated because whatever I do, it seems like Reign has his eyes on me. Even he was not here personally.

“Escape?” I removed the hug from myself, “how could I escape from this high place? How could I? I don’t even know where I am or what the hell is this place? Are you kidding?” I sarcastically added.

Both of them didn’t look at me and maintain their head bowed. I can’t expect something from them because they were tangled by their master’s order.

No one asked him to help me out of that place. Reign bought me, yes! But he doesn’t have the right to make me a prisoner in his so-called turf.

Moreover, he said to his pile of maids that they should treat me as the woman of this gigantic place. If other girls were in this position, I bet they’ll go hysterical.

But I’m not one of them. I have something more important outside. My sister will be waiting for me. I don’t know what she’s doing right now.

I’m desperate to get out of here. I feel heartbroken thinking about my sister being alone. What if she’s not safe and didn’t eat meals? How can my mind take all of it of something to happen to her?!

“Okay, miss. Please wait for us. We will call someone to keep an eye on you while we are not here,” the maid on the right side said.

My mind stops overthinking. I immediately look in the maids’ direction. My lips slowly form a curve, but I stop it. It’s not time to celebrate.

Not yet. I need to fully get myself out of this place before I can flash a smile on my face. Also, it’s evident to them that I was too happy that they’ll be out of my sight.

I need to be careful. If these maids ask someone to take over their position, I will use that time to get out of this terrace.

I just nodded as an answer. The maids looked at each other one more and shift their eyes on me. Both of them bowed, then turned their back and started to walk out of the terrace.

They left the door open, and when they were invisible to my sight, I ran through the iron stand. Without wasting any time, I immediately climbed on top of the iron.

Then I stomped my feet on the floor while holding on to the top of the iron. I stop to look at my back. With that, I heard my heartbeat as a drumming stereo while my breath was heavy.

I closed my eyes then turn my eyes in front. I need to focus and grab this opportunity to escape. No need to wait for the other day because today is the time for it.

My shoulder rose to take a deep breath. I blinked emphatically and released the accumulated air. I opened my eyes then looked down.

It was full of darkness, but I knew there were giant trees below me. Jumping here won’t be too easy, and I can’t guarantee my safety, but at least it will be my assurance and first step in getting out of here.

I must take risks to get home and be with my sister. I was shaking. My body muscles were twitching uncontrollably, and I’m trying to get a hold of myself.

I tightened the grip on the iron, and I can feel how cold it is. I rotated my body while still holding on to the iron. I’m now facing where the sea, but it is surrounded by darkness.

I looked down again, and the darkness was staring at me too. I don’t think I can do it. Jumping here without knowing what’s behind those gigantic trees, but I need to.

I tried to relax, but this view of darkness is enough to give me a panic attack. I let out a deep breath and lowered my body.

Without any hesitations, I tuck my legs and then jumps. I fall on the leaves of these gigantic trees. It gives pain along with the blowing wind in my body.

I want to prevent the continued fall, but it’s impossible. I can’t even see where’s the end of this falling. My chest was pounding, and my brain was restless.

The gusts of wind and the sound of interrupted leaves also coincide. I don’t know, but I noticed no noise from the animals or night insects.

My feet and legs suddenly in pain. I failed to land my forefeet because I don’t have any idea when to reach the ground. I suddenly sat down.

I don’t even know if I’m sitting on the ground, but I can feel something itchy. A grass for sure. I bit my lips to suppress the building emotion inside my body.

I can feel my legs are hurting and feel like going to numb because it absorbs the full impact of the ground, but that’s not why I’m trying to hold myself.

It’s because my plan succeeded! I get myself out of that Reign’s home. I’m not yet sure where I am right now. I know I’m still in Reign’s place, but the only difference is I’m outside, and I’m not in his grasp anymore.

I can go back to my sister once I get out of this place. I was shocked by the faint light illuminating my current location. It was coming from above.

I looked up to see a bunch of fireflies flying in my direction. From faint light, the whole place, which is filled with darkness, becomes bright.

I was amazed. I was like a fairy, along with my tiny fireflies. I don’t know where they came from, but it’s refreshing.

But I was more amazed when I turned my eyes to the whole place. I was surrounded by gigantic trees. I know that it’s already night and the site was full of darkness.

Having light coming from these fireflies was enough to light my way, and it will be hard to define such things, but I’m sure about what I see right now.

These gigantic trees are called giant sequoia, the largest trees in the world of the forest!

I roamed the whole place using the light coming from the fireflies above. I let out a deep sigh because I can’t take this anymore.

First, I was abducted without knowing the reason. Second, I woke up in an unfamiliar place where it recks of alcohol and cigarettes.

Third, I just found myself being sold. Fourth, I was bought by that Reign and bought to his place without my prior permission.

And lastly, I was ended here, in this forest with gigantic trees! How can I get out of this place?!
