Chapter 14: Escape

“Take a rest, miss. We’ll just call you for dinner,” Thraia said, then she opened the massive double door in front of us. I was standing behind her.

After she opened the door, she then steps aside to make way for me. She bowed her head. I wanted to tell her that she doesn’t need to do that with me, but I already know her response, so I didn’t bother to say.

I nodded, “Thank you,” then I took a step inside. Thraia just stayed in her position with a bowed head.

“No need to thank me, miss. It’s the master’s order,” I just ignored what she said and went inside the opened door in front of us. I’m sick of this ‘order’ thingy.

I heard her closed the door, but I didn’t bother to look back. I listened to a footstep walking away from my location. After it was gone, I turned my gaze inside the room.

It was the room earlier where I wake up and found myself in this vast place. I sighed and once again. I looked to the left where the golden curtain hanging in the glass door, covering the outside.

The heat can’t enter from outside. I don’t know what time it is, but I guess it’s already past 3 in the afternoon.

I walked over to the bed and immediately sat on the edge of it. The bedsheet was colored with cream, and it was super soft. I was like I was sitting on a giant marshmallow.

Honestly, my body still hurts a bit, especially my head. I don’t know for what reason, but I guess it’s because my body is tired. Maybe, there’s more reason behind this.

I dropped my body on the bed while my two legs are still hanging. I was facing the light golden ceiling. I stared at it for a while and then let out a deep sigh for the ninth time.

I remembered what Reign said this morning where he mentioned drugs. I don’t know what he’s talking about, but I think he referred to something that explains why I felt those uncomfortable feelings in my body when I was locked up behind that night bar.

I also wanted to know who changed my clothes. I was just wearing lingerie,, but I just have a polo shirt covering my body when I woke up.

“Is it Reign or one of his maids?” I mumbled to myself. I felt my cheeks heated when the thought of Reign changing me appeared in my mind.

I leaned over and softly shook off that thought. It’s impossible. Reign had many helpers, and changing my clothes personally was really an impossible scenario to happen.

Why would I think of it and making a fuss?

I shook my head a few times and closed my eyes tightly to remove that nonsense, though.

I yawned. I don’t know why but I suddenly feel sleepy. I did not force myself to stay awake and immediately accepted the call of drowsiness.

I woke up when I felt someone gently tapping my shoulder. Probably, waking me up from my unconsciousness. When I opened my eyes, I saw Thraia standing in front of me.

“It’s time for dinner, miss. I’m sorry to wake you up, but you need to eat your meal at the exact time,” she said and then bowed her head.

“That’s fine. Anyways, you can’t do anything else because your master ordered it. Thank you,” I frankly said then and got up from lying down.

She didn’t say anything until I got out of bed. I adjusted my dress because it was a bit folded. I forgot to remove my shoes earlier. I didn’t expect to fall asleep that easily.

I walked out of the room since the double door was left open.

I didn’t wait for Thraia to lead me. I already know the way to the dining hall, so I’m better off myself. Not to brag, but I can remember things easily. Especially places and numbers.

I heard the closing of the door and then her footsteps that’s following behind me. I just walked straight until I reached the end of the floor where the long staircase connected.

I hold the handrail to give myself some support then stepped my right foot on the first tread of the staircase. After stepping on the fifth tread, I stopped and looked behind.

I saw Thraia. She was two treads away from my position with a bowed head. Does she not find it difficult to walk down this long staircase while her head bent?

I would still like to speak, but I’m sure she’ll answer what I’m used to hearing from her anyway. I just turned face in front then started to walk gently on these treads.

The treads were slippery and with no adherence to specks of dust. It was well cleaned and managed.

It took us time before we reached the dining hall. Just before standing in front of the double door, it automatically opened.

I don’t know, but this place is very formal and social. Just like before, when the door opened, the maids were lined up on both sides of the door. As usual, with bowed heads.

I went straight to the marble table. I was amazed earlier by the three pendant diamond above it, but they captivated my eyes. It was lovely because of the yellow light coming from the pendant.

Before I sat on the chair, I took a look on my side. I saw my reflection in the mirror, wearing a chiffon light blue dress, and I found my knees a little pinkish. It might be because of the cold temperature inside this place.

Is the temperature coming from the air conditioners inside this house, or is it the current location?

I’m not used to this since I was exposed to heat when I was a child. We don’t have money to afford an air conditioner, not even one.

I sigh and then look in front of the table before taking a seat. As usual, there are different types of foods prepared. After observing the foods in front of me, I immediately toured the entirety of the dining hall. But I can’t find Elliott. I was only here with the maids.

I heard feeble footsteps walking behind me. I thought it was Elliott, but when I turned around, it was one of the maids. She’s petite and has a thin body.

“Where’s Elliott?” I asked as if I had really accepted being a woman in this house. I didn’t notice that she’s holding a glass pitcher filled with green liquid.

“Sir Elliott still has something to do outside, miss,” she casually answered while bowed head. I didn’t ask for more and puts my face back in front.

I know. I’m the only one eating tonight. Even if I tell the maids around and watching over me, they definitely won’t accompany me to this last meal.

Yes. Last meal because after eating this dinner, I will make the escape line. I already have an opening that takes me to the highest success.

Well,  I may experience any pain, hardship, and wounds. But at least, the essential thing is, I get myself out of here.

The maid filled the glass in front of me with the green liquid coming from the pitcher. After that, she walks away without any words.

I looked again at the foods in front of me before digging in.

After taking dinner, I requested to take a fresh air on the terrace connected to this floor. A place where the late old master’s favorite is what Elliott mentioned.

Of course, with two maids following me. They were standing on the door sides, bowing their heads. Afraid of the thought that I would escape. Hell, yes.

The terrace was filled with pendant lights on the corner. I didn’t saw it earlier. I walked to reach the iron supporting the patio and placed my hands above it. I was facing where the ocean was located earlier.

I can’t see its color since the area was surrounded by pitch black. I take a look down from my position. Even it’s dark, I saw something to step on. I secretly grin and then turned my expression back to normal.

I looked back on the two maids standing near the glass door. I can’t escape while they’re watching. They’ll make a commotion for sure if they found my suspicious movements.

I need to get rid of them out of my sight. I clear my throat and then slowly walk in my direction.

When I already approached them, they just keep their heads low. For that instance, they knew that I was standing in front of them.

“Can I have a favor?” I started. They did not look at me but looked at each other while bowing and nodding simultaneously.

“What is it miss?” the one on the left side asked. I tried not to act excited.

Who wouldn’t feel excited when you thought that your own plan will be effective? Getting rid of these two maids is a step in my success in planning to escape from here.

I know that it’s complex and dangerous, but I plan to jump out from this terrace. In that case, there will be a possibility of my success plan!
