Change school for us, Daddy

Chapter 7

    Jeffrey Cooper

After spending almost the whole night checking out the books the head of the editorial team forwarded to me for paid social media ads, I was finally able to select a few that would be put up for paid promotion on social media, of which Aliyah was one of the authors. She has been working hard, and trust me when I say her works are good, they really are very good, and just in three months she signed her recent book, she already hit two million views and made not less than seven thousand dollars with just royalties. I love her hard-working spirit. Everything about her is so perfect.

When I checked the time and realized that it was already 5am, I knew going to bed was as good as allowing my kids to go late to school, and going late to the office too, so I stood up from bed and left for the kitchen.

I took my time to clean the house, and once I was done, I started making breakfast for my kids. By the time I was done making breakfast, I left to wake the kids from sleep and got them ready for school.

"Daddy, didn't you sleep at night?" Ella asked as she held my cheeks in her little palms while observing my eyes which I knew had eyebags now.

"Yeah, I kind of didn't have a good sleep last night. I was busy with work. Come on, let's go to the dining," I held their hands and led them out of the room, heading to the dining room where they started eating while I went back to my room to get ready for work.

"You should get a maid to do all these, Jeff. You are wearing out, can't you see it?" My subconscious mind said to me as I stood in front of the mirror in the bathroom minutes later, ready to take my bath, but fuck it! I won't hire a maid. I prefer to take care of my kids alone. I didn't want someone coming here to bully my kids while I'm away.

After I was done having my bathe, I walked back into the room and took my time to get ready for the office. By the time I was done, it was already 6:45am, so I left my room, not after picking up my phone from the bed where I left it before I went to the bathroom.

"Daddy, you said you are going to change school for us. We want to go to the same school as Nancy," I had no idea why Emily was so keen on leaving her school and going to the same school as Nancy. It's crazy, but I knew that she was going to frustrate me eventually until I was left with the only option of saying yes to her.

"I'm going to think about it, darling," I replied to her as I glanced at them through the rear mirror, and she frowned her face.

"Daddy, I want to go to Nancy's school too," Ella spoke up, and I felt like screaming my lungs out. These kids will eventually make me go crazy.

"Alright, dear. Don't worry, I will take you to Nancy's school next term, ok? Just be patient, and I promise to take you there on your promotion to the next class," I assured them, and they beamed with smiles. Children don't deserve to be yelled at, but you could always talk to them calmly and get them to do what you want

"You have not seen stubborn kids," My subconscious mind reminded me, and I knew it was right. After I watched a few movies where the kids were extremely stubborn, trust me, with my low tolerance for bullshits, I think I would end up taking them to the orphanage to avoid the story that touches the heart later.

"Be a good girl, and don't play around. Listen to your teacher, ok?" I said to them before I finally handed them over to their class teacher, leaving the place afterward.

As I drove to the office minutes later, my phone started ringing and I pulled over at the side of the road before I reached out for the phone. Seeing the caller to be mom, I groaned frustratingly before I swiped the answer button.

"Hey, momma," I said to her in the calmest voice I always use for her, even though I'm frustrated, knowing why she was calling me.

"Baby... How are you doing?" Her sweet voice sounded through the phone.

"I'm fine, momma. How have you been?" I asked her as I rested my head on the headrest.

"I'm fine. When are you planning to get married, Jeff? It's been seven years already, are you planning to stay single forever? You need to get married so your kids can be taken care of..."

"Momma, can we talk about this later? I need to hurry to the office now..."

"I'm sending someone to you today. You may go back home to meet her, so don't be surprised. She is my friend's daughter and a very nice girl..."

    "Momma..."

"I'm not asking you to marry her, so don't think about it. I know you will be stressed taking care of the kids all alone, so I sent her to work as their nanny and take care of them. I know how careful you are when it comes to the kids, so don't worry, she is someone I know very well, and she won't try anything stupid," She said to me, and I sighed briefly. It wasn't that I could change her mind, so there was no point arguing with her, so I just said that it was fine. I can always send the girl back if I'm not fine with her being around my kids, right?

I finally dropped the call before I drove to the company.

As I headed to my office, my phone beeped and I checked to see that it was a message via email. It was from Aliyah. Seeing Aliyah as the sender, I got so curious that I stopped in front of the elevator to check the message.

'I accept your offer' Seeing her reply gladdened my heart as if I just won a lottery. Aside from my feelings for her, she's someone that would add to our company positively...
