Chapter 24

Hearing everything he was saying, I wasn’t sure what to make out of everything. Knowing he was going through all this alone, made my heartbreak. I wanted to keep interrupting him to ask more questions, but I wanted him to finish telling me.

The fact he was never too far from me angered me though. Not because he didn’t tell me, it was because I never knew. If I hadn’t been so wrapped up in my life, would I have gone to find him? I always felt as if he were not too far from me, but I never went searching.

While he was going through all of this, I was just going about my life. Granted, I didn’t know but I should have suspected something was wrong. I was starting to feel like it was just as much my fault as it was his that he left me.

“Alec came to me and told me that you were going to need me. He wouldn’t tell me why, but I knew I had to return. It didn’t matter how far away I was, you were never a far thought.
