Reese’s POV

What the hell was I doing? Was I really going to let my mate leave to go to California? Quickly I rolled out of bed pulled my pants on and walked to the closed bathroom door and froze. I could hear the sound of Rayne crying behind the door. My wolf growled at me for making our mate cry and I felt anger towards myself for making her feel this way. I needed to tell her not to go and we would work something out.

But then bedroom door opened, and Conner stood in the doorway, and he looked around the room and then his eyes landed on me. “Where is she?” he asked.

I stepped away from the bathroom door and squared up to him. He was a big man for a warlock which didn’t make sense to me. Most warlocks I knew were tall but on the skinner side but not Conner. He reminded me of an Alpha with his statue and his demeanor. He wasn’t afraid of me either which meant he was either stupid or he was sure of the powers he yielded.
