Chapter 40: Rain

Nivia POV.

It was 6 a.m. the next morning when I stirred awake.

I lay on the bed for a few minutes trying to remember where I was.

The camp sleeping bag was small and tight.

I only managed to sleep last night because I was very exhausted.

After Mateo stormed out of the game, it had come to a close.

Justin insisted that we set up our camp sleeping bags and retire for the night.

Which we all did.

Rachel and I shared a sleeping bag while the rest paired up with themselves in twos.

Claire slept with Sonia, Austin and Suzanne paired up, Justin and Kyle opted to sleep together while David was left to pair with Mateo.

"No funny business," Kyle jokingly said to Austin.

"I wouldn't let him even if he wanted to," Suzanne retorted.

"Oh yeah, don't make me turn on my charm," Austin playfully clapped back.

We all laughed and crawled into our tents.

However, before I went to sleep, I didn't hear Mateo return.

The day was now breaking, and I didn't know if he had come back last night.
