After the appointment and dropping Becky off at Jessica’s house, I followed Naomi back to the house, where her project partner had been waiting for us. She had scrunched up her face and taken my hand as we walked up to the door. I knew that she had been having problems with him, but every time I offered to take care of him and his flirtation, she turned me down. I wanted nothing more than to march down to the school and yank him up by the collar of his shirt and punch him in the fucking face for disrespecting my woman!

“Rip, this is Gabe. Gabe, this is my boyfriend, Rip,” Naomi told him as she linked our fingers together.

I held my hand out to him, and when he took it, I squeezed it hard. “Pleasure, I’m sure.”
