  • More than a billionaires contract    One breath away

Zara By the time I arrived at the resort, I had already decided that I was going to enjoy myself to the fullest. The lady at the reception welcomed me with a smile before handing me over to Ike of the resort attendants, who led me through a beautifully landscaped path toward my room. When the door opened, I stopped. “WOW.” The room was enormous. A king sized bed sat in the middle, surrounded by comfortable loungers and white umbrellas.“Okay..”Maybe coming alone wasn’t such a bad idea after all. I immediately grabbed my phone and called Elizabeth. “Finally!” “You need to see this.” I turned the camera around to give her a full room tour. “”Zara!” “I know.” “That’s your room?” “Apparently.” “Girl I would disappear if I had a room like that.” “It’s so big and beautiful.” “Make sure you enjoy every second of your stay there. Don’t think about anything.” We talked for another minute before I ended the call. There was a private pool at the side of the room. The view was

River The door closed behind Zara. I remained where I was. Unmoved and unbothered. I simply just stared at the spot where she had disappeared from. I exhaled slowly and leaned back on my chair. What the hell is wrong with me?The disappointment she had on her face just kept playing in my head. She came to my office all excited and I could have just played along with it. But I did what I knew how to do best. Act cold and pretend as if I don’t care. I rubbed my hand over my face. The truth was that I wanted to go. When she asked, my immediate instinct had been to say yes. But I just had to say no. My door opened just in time to disrupt me from my thoughts. “Sir, we are ready for you.” I simply nodded and stood up from my chair. I picked up the files on my desk and headed towards the board room. The marketing director stood at the front with a smile on her face. “Good afternoon Mr. Cassian.” I took my sweet at the end of the table. “Good afternoon.” I said, clearing my throa

Zara I was half way through packing when I realized I had no idea what I was doing. There were clothes scattered across my bed, two pairs of shoes sitting beside my suitcase, and a small pile of things I still hadn’t decided whether I actually needed. I picked up another dress and stared at it. Then I folded it and placed it inside. This trip had been the most anticipated things for me this week. I had looked forward to it for the longest. It will just be me and Elizabeth taking a break from everything and having real fun. Speaking of Elizabeth, I picked up my phone and dialed her number. She appeared on my screen and I immediately looked away. “Elizabeth.” She laughed. “What? Haven’t you seen my boobs before?” “Can you put some clothes on?” “No. I’m in my house and I can do whatever I want. And you could do the same too. Maybe River might just walk in on you and who knows, you guys might have a good time.” “That is not happening.” “You need to get laid, girl, it’s been w

Zara The moment I got the call from Oliver, I didn’t stop to think about anything. I grabbed my bag and hurried out of Elizabeth’s apartment. She was still asleep. We had a long conversation last night that ended with us watching a movie. My heart was pounding the entire journey. I kept telling myself to calm down. The moment I stepped through the hospital entrance, I made my way to the receptionist. I didn’t know if River was still in the ro he was yesterday or they had moved him. “I’m here to see River Cassian.” The receptionist poked up from her computer. “Relationship to the patient?” “I’m his girlfriend,” I didn’t hesitate to say. Her fingers paused over the keyboard. Then she looked at me. A small amused emile appeared on her lips. “His wife?” “No. His girlfriend.” She laughed out loud. “Sure.” I stared at she wondering if I had said something that made her laugh so much. “I’m sorry?” She stood up from her chair and took a glance at me from head to toe. “Look,

River My head was banging the moment I chose to open my eyes. The lights here were too bright. I blinked several times trying to make sense of where I was. There was a dull ache in my chest. My throat was dry, my body was heavy. It was as though I had been sleeping for days. “River?” I turned my head slowly. Mira was sitting beside my bed. Why was she smiling?“Oh my God, you are awake.” She reached for my hand and held it to her face. “Are you okay?” I stared at her for a moment before I took my hand away from hers. I tried to sit up straight but I failed because my vision was becoming blurry. “Where is Zara?” “I think the question you should be asking is what happened to me?” “You can at least start talking since you know it all.” She rolled her eyes. “Well…you had an allergic reaction.” My memory began to come in fragments. I remember going to my room to get my allergy pills because Zara had been making something with cheese. I think I was not able to get the drugs. “H

  • More than a billionaires contract    The fear of losing him

Zara I sat opposite the room River was in. The hospital corridor felt unbearably quiet. My hands were clasped tightly in my lap, while staring at the closed door in front of me. River had been there for hours, nurses just walked in and came out. None of them were saying anything. My mind went back to how I found River. He was on the floor unconscious. I was confused because he looked okay when we spoke. His body was frighteningly still. I hadn’t realized I was crying until a tear slipped down my cheeks. I wiped it off fast but another followed fast. I let that one go down to Jean. Oliver was sitting beside me. He was quiet. I called him when I found River on the floor. He was the only one that I could think of. He came very fast. I didn’t know what else I could have done because I couldn’t carry River all by myself. The thought of River dying made my chest tighten. I didn’t know when the thought became a desperate prayer. I lowered my head and rubbed my palm together. The d
