MORRIGAN'S POV
“Bang!” A loud sound jolted me up. My head was pounding. Everything hurts like hell. I tried opening my eyes but they wouldn't open. The wolfsbane was delaying my healing process. “Get them out!” Someone yelled, causing my head to hurt even more. “Get up!” I felt a sharp kick in my side. I groaned in pain. “Drag her out, the alpha is waiting.” Someone else said. “Drag me out?” I thought, as soon as I managed to get out of here I am going to make these motherfuckers pay for the pain I am going through. Someone dragged me out like I was a log. My sense of smell started coming back. I could smell different scents and food. At the smell of food my eyes shot open, I immediately closed them again because of the bright light. It was way brighter than in the dungeon. “Is she the last one?” A deep voice said. It sent shivers down my spine. This was definitely an alpha, and a strong one at that. “Yes Alpha.” The same person from the dungeon answered. I was forced to kneel. “What is your name?” His deep voice rumbled. I could feel goosebumps forming on my skin. I slowly opened my eyes and blinked a couple of times. I turned my head left and right looking at my surroundings. We were outside in a big field, there were wooden houses facing away from where I was. I finally looked in front of me, there were two men seated and one standing besides them. From looking at them I could tell who the Alpha was from his dark and strong aura. He had hair as dark as a moonless and starless night, his eyes were darker than anything I'd ever seen before, so empty. He had a thin and long nose, a sharp jaw, high cheekbones and bushy eyebrows. The one seated beside him seemed powerful too, so maybe the Beta and the one beside them was among those who brought us here yesterday. “The Alpha asked you a question?” The one who dragged me here shouted, kicking me in the side. These idiots were really starting to piss me off, first they trapped me,used wolfsbane on me, locked me up and now they even dare to hit me. I slowly raised my hand and a few rocks began levitating. I directed them to the guy who hit me and then hit him one after another, he fell down and let out a series of pained groans. “A sharp pain shot up my hand and I was forced to stop. I struggled to catch my breath. “What was that? Is she a witch?” The man standing next to the alpha exclaimed. I slowly lifted my head and glared at him. “Witches are fucking extinct, idiot.” I thought. “What are you?” The Beta asked, eying me cautiously. “Let me go.” I said weakly. I just wanted to get away from here, find some food and sleep. “Answer the question. Are you really a witch? But how is that possible? I can smell your wolf and there are no witches left.” The Beta asked, he slowly got up from his seat. “That's none of your business.” I spat out. My identity was none of their concern, all they needed to do was let me go. “Join my pack.” The Alpha voiced startling me. “Zephyr!” The beta exclaimed in surprise. Hell even I was surprised, what was this douchebag saying. Did he really think I would agree to join their pack after all they did to me. “No.” I said leaving no room for argument or negotiation. A smirk appeared on his face. “You either join my pack or die. It's up to you.” “Alpha how can we let a low life rogue join our pack!” The man besides the Alpha protested. One look from him and he bowed his head in submission. “No.” I repeated. I wasn't going to die, as soon as I regained my energy I was going to whoop their asses and run. He walked towards me, my heart started beating faster than usual. His aura was very intimidating and as much as I didn't want to admit it I was afraid. He stopped right in front of me and squatted down to my level. His scent hit my nostrils, mint. My head was spinning, he smelt so good. Why did he smell this good? I'd smelt mint before and it didn't make my mouth water like this. “So you would rather die than join my pack.” He smirked, before placing his fingers under my chin and forcing me to look into his eyes. The moment his fingers touched me, it felt like I was floating. My skin was covered in goosebumps and I was burning up. My breath got caught up in my throat, his eyes were drawing me in and I felt like I was drowning in them. The pain, anger and hunger I was feeling disappeared and all I could feel, see and smell were him. What was this feeling? And why did it feel so good, why did I keep wanting to look at this handsome stranger. A strong shove had me spilled out on my back and the spell was broken just like that. “It can't be you..” he growled, “you cannot be my mate.” He yelled. Mate? My eyes widened at the realization, he was my mate. This could not be happening to me, it was not happening. This was all a terrible dream I was having or maybe they were hallucinations because I was hungry, right? Right!? I closed and opened my eyes hoping to wake up from this nightmare. I pinched myself and winced in pain. Oh goddess, this was real. I really had found my mate. The one i prayed and hoped to never, ever meet in this life or even in my wildest dreams.ZEPHYR'S POV Her eyes held no warmth, no recognition. Just darkness, cold and endless. My heart thundered in my chest, hard. “Sweetheart, it's me.” I choked out. Her hands tightened against my throat. “Non amplius, dulcis. Nunc una ex nobis est.” She hissed, but the voice wasn't hers. It was like a hundred people speaking out of her mouth. (No more sweetheart. She is one of us now.) I didn't understand what she was saying. My head was getting fuzzy and my eyes blurry. Why was this happening? “Morrigan.” I wanted to yell but it came out as a strangled whisper. “No more Morrigan.” She growled. I used all my power and pushed her off of me. I rolled onto my side in a coughing fit. I scrambled onto my feet, she stood across from me with a grin on her face. Not her usual happy grin but a creepy one. My heart dropped. “The curse.” I whispered. Was it really the curse? No. The grin on her face disappeared and she fell on her knees, fingers clawing at her head. A horrific
ZEPHYR'S POV The soft light from the sun lit up the room. Birds softly chirped outside. The pack homes were still quiet except for the gentle creak of movement here and there. I stretched and reached out for Morrigan, but she didn't stir like she always does. Instead she laid there with her eyes closed, her hand on her forehead and her eyebrows drawn. “Are you okay?” I asked sitting up. She lightly shook her head, her eyes still closed. “I don't feel too good.” She said, her voice shaky and weak. “What's wrong?” I asked my concern rising. “Fever? Nausea?” “No….no. Just tired, heavy. Terrible headache and everything is spinning.” She whispered. I gently brushed her hair away from her forehead and pressed a gentle kiss on it. “Alright. Get some rest, I will watch the kids.” She groaned in protest but I gently brushed her hair. “It's ok. I've got them, please just get some rest….please.” She nodded gently, I smiled and placed a light kiss on her lips. I slipped out of bed
MORRIGAN'S POV Laughter echoed through the garden. The blue was a gentle blue, the wind blew softly rustling the leaves and flowers in the garden. Kierra and I sat on a blanket under one of the many trees in our garden. Lucian, Freya and Endymion, Kierra's son, ran around the garden. “I swear they were just wobbling around just yesterday,” Kierra ran her fingers through her hair, a smile on her face. “Now look at them running around.” “Mommy,” Endymion screeched, tears filling up her eyes as she pointed a finger at Freya who stood a few steps from him. “She bit me.” Freya gasped, violently shaking her head. “Did not,” she looked at her brother who abruptly turned away. “Lucy tell them.” “I didn't see anything,” he huffed. He didn't like the nickname his sister had given him. “And stop calling me Lucy.” “Mommy I didn't do it.” She pouted. “Did too,” Endymion sniffled. “You are a bully and I do not want to play with you anymore.” “Freya, apologize to Endy right now.” I s
ZEPHYR'S POV I paced. Back and forth. Again and again and again. I couldn't stop pacing, everytime her scream pierced through the wooden door my heart squeezed painfully. “Zephyr you're going to leave a hole in the floor. Stop pacing up and down, she is going to be fine.” Ronan assured. “You know how strong she is.” His words didn't do anything to make me feel better. I knew she was strong, she really is but strength didn't mean she wasn't in pain. It didn't mean she or our child were safe. The thought of losing her wo….. No. I clenched my jaw and hands. My nails digging into the palm of my hand. I ran my fingers through my hair and gripped the hair at the back of my head with my eyes closed. “Please. Goddess please keep them safe.” I whispered. Another scream tore through the wall. Her voice was laced in so much pain. I wanted to rush in there and hold her hand. I couldn't bear to lose her. Not now, not after all we had been through and what we had survived. This was
MORRIGAN'S POV I didn't think I was going to cry. But the moment I saw the tiny baby cradled in Kierra's arms, tears welled up. The room was warm and filled with many different scents but all I could focus on were the sounds made by the tiny baby. It was so tiny, so fragile, so real. “He's so, so perfect.” I said, voice barely audible. I moved closer, unable to look away. “Do you want to hold him?” Kierra asked, a smile etched on her face. She looked so pale and exhausted. I gulped. “Can I?” She nodded and gently passed the baby to me. It was so small, fragile and very light. I silently watched the tiny baby, his chest moving up and down. My heart squeezed and a smile grew on my face. I lightly tapped the baby's cheek with a single finger and his mouth opened in a sleepy yawn. My heart melted. “Oh goddess,” I blinked at Kierra. “I can't believe he was inside you and now he's here. In my arms.” “You're next.” She gave a tired chuckle. I looked down at my own swollen b
MORRIGAN'S POV “What did you say?” I whispered. I stared at the healer. Maybe I had misheard him, I might be hearing things. A smile graced his face, excitement filling his eyes. “You're with child.” My hand instinctively fell to my stomach. “B..but how?” I whispered, then let out a breathy laugh at my own question. I covered my mouth in stunned disbelief. So many emotions hit me at once, uncertainty, shock and happiness that felt too fragile to hold on to. My heart thundered as the truth sipped into my bones. This was real. I was really pregnant. “I'm pregnant.” I said. The words felt strange on my tongue, yet my chest felt warm. A small smile grew on my face. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. But I knew that I couldn't wait to tell Zephyr. ____________________________________ I found him alone at the training grounds. His shirt clung to his back, hair being tousled by the wind. I paused my hand over my stomach with a small smile on my face. My heart trembled
