“So what happened?” Her mom asked the moment she was done drinking from the water bottle.
“He cheated on me, mom.” She burst out into sobbing all of a sudden. Her mother, Maria, handed over a tissue to her. She collected it and used it to clear her nose. Her face had turned tomato red from all the crying and thinking.
“Hey, calm down, okay?” Her mother said, rubbing her back soothingly.
“He said that he loved me, yet he cheated on me. I even wanted to leave my life in London to stay with him. I don't even understand what I did wrong.” She lamented and squeezed her eyes shut as the tears rolled down her cheeks.
“I don't have male friends because he demanded I shouldn't. He told me not to go out at night, and I obeyed him. Mom, please tell me where I went wrong.” She rambled amidst crying.
It wasn't easy to hear what she was saying, but she understood her. She understood what her daughter was going through. She was dealing with her first heartbreak.
It was her forever first break up. Although she had vowed never to give her heart to any guy, Jeremy somehow made her go against it. Now see what he did to her in return.
“Ophelia, all you need is to rest now, okay? Now go upstairs and freshen up. Then you can come downstairs to eat something.” Her mom, Maria, enunciates.
She stood up sluggishly and staggered her way into her room. She opened the door and stared at it for a few seconds before entering. This room held most of her memories with him. Pictures of him hung around like stockings on a Christmas tree. She went towards one and saw her smiling happily, with him giving her a peck.
She looked around and saw another with them holding hands. That day was the day he promised never to leave her. He said he would always love her and never cheat on her.
Ophelia smiled sadly as she remembered that day. Was she so foolish not to realize it? Was she the one forcing the relationship? But he was genuinely in love with her originally, so what went wrong?
She slid down and started crying. She can't stop thinking about it. She thought she was going to be his bride and he, her husband, but guessed that was all a dream. She opened the little bags she had brought.
Lingerie, sexy pants and bras, nighties… she had planned all this. She initially went to Victoria's secret to get all this, but what did she use it for? Nothing. Nothing. She worked hard to impress him, but it was all for nothing.
Jeremy once said that he does not love ladies that wear sneakers all the time, and that’s what she wears mostly, but because he said that, she went shopping and got a few pairs of heels. Although she never felt comfortable in them. But she had to give him the impression that she was a submissive girlfriend—a wife material.
Ophelia had always dreamed of being walked down the aisle to meet him at the altar, With Jeremy putting the ring on her finger and claiming her as his. But all was void. She smiled sadly as she brought out her clothes. She picked up pajamas and a top. She stood up and went into the bathroom.
Standing in front of the mirror and stared at it for seconds, taking in how she looked. Her hair was unkempt, her eye bags had already darkened, and her eyes were already puffy and red.
A lone tear found its way down her face, So she dabbed it off her face and sniffed. She pulled off her clothes and stepped into the cold shower.
The cold shower kept splashing on her body, sending shivers down her spine, yet she did not even show a sign of feeling anything. She was out of the world. She was dumb. She blocked everything and everyone out.
“Ophelia.” Her mother shouted from the kitchen, but she did not get an answer.
She got so worried and hurried to her room. She looked around and saw no one. Then she heard the sound made by the running water. She rushed into the bathroom to see her daughter soaked under the shower.
“Ophelia!!” she shouted at the sight and rushed over to her.
“Do you want to kill yourself?” her mother shouted.
She dragged her out, but her daughter was not replying. She was so worried about her. She took a towel and dried her hair. Maria tapped Ophelia, but her daughter did not react to it.
“Ophelia, I know you can hear me,” Maria said. “You need to calm down, okay?” She added.
When she did not get a reply, she sighed and stood out. “I think you need to be alone. Think about it,” Maria said and went out of the room. She closed the door.
Ophelia kept looking ludicrous. She soon laid down on the bed and stared at nowhere in particular. Tears kept falling down her face, but she was too weak to wipe them off. She needed someone to help her, but who? She hardly associated with anyone except for her friend at her workplace.
*Late in the night*
It was already dark. She could not sleep. “Ophelia, you have not eaten yet.” Her mother called out from outside the door.
“Ophelia, you can't keep on doing this to yourself.” Her mother said worriedly.
She was her only child. She was the only one she ever had. She definitely can't lose her now. Not ever.
“Ophelia, please open this door. I know how hard it is, but you must be strong.” Her mother pleaded with her.
But she was too tired to stand up. All she did was stare at it as if expecting a force to open it. After a while, she could not hear her mom's voice again.
She kept turning from one side of the bed to another as she could not sleep. His face kept on appearing in her dreams. Her thoughts. She felt like dying. She was too fragile for this. She jerked up and screamed suddenly.
“Leave me alone!!” she shouted and gripped her hair. She stood up and went over to where the pictures were hung. She tore them off the strip and scattered them.
“Why can't you just leave me alone?” she wailed.
~Ophelia's POV~My best friend, laid before me, with blood spilling from her lips and her eyes opened but lifeless. How the hell did this happen? How could I have forgotten that I was being followed? A waiter had come to meet Demetrius where I was standing and he had whispered in his ear. It was the look of shock that was his face that caught my attention and how the waiter was trembling. I knew something bad if not worse must have happened. I had asked him what was wrong only for him to walk outside and I followed him then I came in contact with this horrific view of the corpse of my best friend. How did it happen?Why... I don't even know what to do. Whether I should cry or just stare, I was shocked.Demetrius had called the cops and they would be here at any time but still I could not find myself moving away from Kelly's dead body. Our friendship had turned rocky ever since we came here. I tried to get back with her but she was not letting me in. And now she was dead. Like dead.
It was evening already and the guests were beginning to stride in. Ophelia was busy welcoming them, she had gone upstairs to change and Loretta had helped her mother into a nice dress and after so many resistance from Maria, she put a little make up on her face. "Thank you for coming." Ophelia said to one of the guests. They nodded their heads and made their way to the place. The cake was brought in by the waitering services and the party soon kicked start. Ophelia was very excited as she could not stop grinning from ear to ear as she watched everyone conversed. Demetrius went to stand close to her as he knew that she could need him at any moment. She turned to him with a appreciative look and he just shook his head."You deserve it and more." He said and she giggled. She was soon called on the podium and people began to drop their gifts then the cake cutting time came where she took pictures with people. The waiters began to serve the wine and everyone chatted away. Unaware to any
I looked up at Demetrius. "Someone is here?" Kelly asked."Come in." Loretta said and the door was pushed open. My mother stepped in, she looked around the place and then her eyes landed on me. My brows creases together."Mother..." She raised her hands to me."You..." She trailed off as she moved closed to us."So you now stay with a man? Or are you here for a celebration? Wait, you are the one celebrating?" She asked and I could feel the hurt in her voice."Mother...." I said as I moved closer to her."Stay away from me." She said, using her hand to make a distance between us."Ophelia." Demetrius called out. I turned to him."This is my mother." I said and his face brightened up."Didn't know you had one. Good day ma." He greeted with a polite smile."You are... That stupid boss of hers?" She asked and I gulped softly.Demetrius turned to look at me with an amused smile then back at her. "Considering that we are meeting for the first time, I will introduce myself. I am Demetrius Va
Weeks later....~Ophelia's POV~Gosh, no one told me morning sickness could be this bad. But–Water splashed on my face and I yelped out."What the heck? Demetrius?!" I yelled out in shock. Water dripped down from my hair to my night gown."Happy Birthday!" Kelly and Demetrius squealed and I could not help but glare at them."I know you wanted to surprise me but do you have to wet me with water like this?!" I asked them and they scoffed. The both of them, Ha!"Happy Birthday to you, Ophelia." Loretta came in with a gift in her hand. Gentle lady manner.I looked around. "Where is Maureen?" I asked. That little devil."She...." Demetrius scratched the back of his neck."How about you dress quickly and come downstairs?" He asked instead and I knew that there was something going on. I stared at him with interest and he shrugged with a smile on his lips. I snorted and climbed down the bed. They both exited the room for me and I picked out the clothes I will be wearing. My baby bump was not
PART FIVE~Demetruis' POV~She is carrying my child? My own freaking child? My child. And she left me. What if something happened to her? Or to the kid?I pulled the car over and stepped out. I walked towards the entrance of Emery's house. Pushing the door open, not caring to knock, I walked inside.I saw her, the devil herself, sitting there with a smoke in her hands and watching Netflix. Spoilt brat."You came back?" She asked as she faced me with a amused look."No, I did not. And will never." I bit out as I clenched my fist from going straight for her plastic chin. Instead I moved closer to her, I leaned over, almost choking on the awful cigarette smell. This brand was really really hard, I wonder how is she yet to run mad. Even I must not take these. Well, what do you expect from someone like Emery?"I know what you did." I whispered and I noticed her throat burp and she choked on the smoke.Good.She started coughing out and reached for the drink. I took it away in a swift motio
PART FOUR~Ophelia's POV~Loretta's lips widened into a grin as she took note of me. From her huge grin I knew her heart leaped with joy. Which was weird for me. I mean why would she be so happy to meet me? I am just an ordinary secretary to her son."Ophelia." She called out with every ounce of your joy she could show. My lips turned into a small smile and I moved forward. "Ma'am." I greeted."Oh my goodness, you are real." She said as she touched her chest. She pulled me into an instant hug and squeezed me tight. Okay, this treatment I am receiving is weird for me today."You don't know how much I missed you." Maureen said and I noticed she was crying. She was crying? For me?I am really heartless.I crouched down to her level and cupped her face in my palms. "I am so sorry, Maureen. I promise you I won't leave again." I said and she blinked her eyes."You won't?" She asked and I nodded my head. "I won't." I stood up."Okay then. I have so many things to show you." She said and was
PART THREE~Ophelia's POV~To say that I was shocked will be an understatement. Damien was standing here. In my little living room. In a casual dress. He raised his brows and folded his arms. "Never knew you were such a loser!" He snapped at me suddenly and I felt the small world I was trying to build crumble down before me at the vocals of his voice."I..." The words could not even form at all. What was he doing here? How did he get here? Why was he here?He stared at me with scrutiny, walked towards me with calculating steps. "So you think you can just leave as you want after what happened?" He asked, his eyes searching for a particular thing I know nothing of. This was dangerous. It was dangerous. Why can't he just let me go?I need to speak up, Clearing my throat, I patted my thigh with my hands. "Nice meeting you again." I said and he uttered a scoff before settling down to sit. I followed his every action. His muscles strained in the pair of jeans he wore. He had his eyes fixat
PART TWOI woke up as early as I could for this mysterious meeting with this person. I was eager to see what he had in store for me but I should also be careful because it could be the person that was stalking Ophelia at that time. But it goes both ways and I hope it is worth the risk I was taking."Demetrius, where are you going so early?" My mother asked as she sipped her tea. That was one thing she was used to. Waking up early and drinking tea as she watches the sun rise."No where. Just have to make a quick visit to someone." I said and she turned to me fully with a shocked expression."Really? Never knew you to make meetings as early as this." She said with her brows raised and I did not want to tell her about it."Mother, it is nothing to worry about. I will be quick." I said and hurried towards the dining table. I picked an apple and bit into it."Goodbye mum." I said and walked out. It was still a little bit dark so I just drove my car. Getting to the place took some minutes,
PART ONE~Ophelia's POV~Kelly moved away from me and went towards the door. I just stood there, expecting to see who it was that came here. Something in me was hoping that it would be HIM. Opening it, she moved back and Ryan peeped in with a cocky smile."Sorry but you left your purse." He said as he handed it over to me. I stared at him with scrutiny. He could have just called me back. Right? He looked at Kelly and I noticed her move uncomfortably on her feet. "Okay, you can leave now. Thank you anyway for the ride. I really appreciate." I said again with a feigned smile that I was not even sure it was there and he nodded his head at me before moving back. Kelly slammed the door shut and glared at me before going to sit down. Just as I was about to utter a word, a knock came again and I groaned out loud. What does he want?I walked towards the door with the aim to speak my mind to him but then I pushed the door open, "I am quite thirsty. I was thinking if you would welcome me insid
