I called my lawyer at eight in the morning.

She had already seen the filing.

"Victoria moved fast," she said. "The shareholder list she's working with includes three members who have been unhappy since the merger negotiations stalled. She's been cultivating them for months."

"How many does she need," I said.

"Simple majority," she said. "She has the three unhappy ones. She needs two more to make it viable."
