Chapter 49

The door to his cell was opened around ten hours later, and he was escorted out of his cell and into the parloir, where his father and step mother were waiting for him.

When he saw his father, he shouted out, "Dad," and dashed over to where they were sitting. He sat across from them, tears streaming down his cheeks uncontrollably from his eyes.

"Is it true?" His stepmother asked, her voice filled with concern.

In response, he vigorously shook his head.

"We have just finished talking to Kim," his father said, his voice breaking with sadness.

Kim was the name of the gatekeeper who had been present when the incident occurred.

"What did he tell you?" Ricardo questioned, his voice full of curiosity.

"That he heard screaming coming out of your apartment," his father said.

"Dad, believe me, I didn't do it."
