Chapter One Hundred And Forty Eight

Adriana’s POV

I arrived at the scene about five minutes before the stipulated time, and even though Caden was nowhere to be found yet, I still couldn’t help but feel like something was terribly wrong.

The place was eerily silent and so was my head. It was as if my mind had suddenly gone blank and I couldn’t conjure up even a single thought.

Seizing this opportunity, I picked up my phone, and quickly sent a text to Massimo even though I wasn’t sure he wanted to talk to me yet, that is after taking a picture of the secluded place and then putting it on silent before tossing it under one of the chairs where it wouldn’t be easily seen by Caden.

I bit my fingernails as I waited for Caden. Time moved torturously slow and every moment felt like I was waiting for years.

Just when I was already beginning to think about going back home, a black sleek car pulled over and immediately, Caden stepped out.
