Just Watch And See. Lyla Atelo. My hands were shaking under the table as the tears fell from my eyes. I felt useless and cheap. The things he said... It was much too hurtful, and I didn't like how I was reacting to his words. I mean, it hasn't even been up to a month of knowing him, and I feel this way. This was really stupid. "Trouble in paradise?" There was a sneer up ahead. I wasn't even conscious enough to know that my door had been opened and somebody just stepped in. I recognised her voice instantly as I began wiping the tears from my eyes before raising my head. I was sure my eyes were red, but right now, I was too tired to care. "What do you want Miss Constantine?" I asked her in a low voice, trying to distract myself with the books on my table. I didn't try to make eye contact with her because I knew there would be mockery in her eyes. "Awwwwn..." She cooed. "Are your eyes red? Did he hurt you? What were you expecting, sweet little Lyla?" My eyes flashed angrily. "It is 'Mrs. Lyla' to you." I looked directly at her, the coldness in my voice was thick. She stumbled backwards for a moment, her eyes widening in fear for a fraction of a second. But her expression changed again and her sneer was back. "Drop it already, Lyla." She cocked her head to the side and made bold steps towards my table, like a predator stalking its prey. "Stop trying to... I don't know..." She shrugged. "Make yourself seem important. You're not. You've never been. You're just one useless teacher who just got recognised by the school's golden boy, and now you're acting like you run the school. Just because he fucks you!" Her eyes shone in anger as she spat out the last words. I stared at the book on my table for a while without even seeing anything, letting her words sink in while thinking of the best response that would shut her up for good. "Sara..." I threw my professional tone out of the window and stood up from my chair, folding my hands in front of me. "If there is one thing I don't like about students like you, it's that you guys are weak and because of that, you begin to talk too much. You're just a parrot with no power..." Then I paused and smirked. "Oh, sorry, I was wrong about that. You're just a parrot who has the backing of her mother as the principal of this school. If she wasn't there, you would be nothing. In fact, a girl like you will be begging to find herself in the midst of students with influence." I watched with satisfaction as her expression darkened with each word I spoke. That was good. I wasn't going to let any spoiled brat of a student talk down on me, especially not this particular student! Her expression turned vicious as she lunged at me in anger. I backed away from her reach, making her fall over from my desk. I could tell it was painful because her head hit the apex of my chair, while her leg came in contact with the wooden edge of my table. I winced at the sight of her skirt pulled up to reveal her little white panties and butt. "Are you okay, Miss Constantine?" I could tell she wasn't buying the fake concern in my voice. She pulled herself up together, fighting the tears of embarrassing herself in front of me. Sara bit her lower lips, clenching her fists as she stared at me with deep seated hatred in her eyes. "Even though we didn't hear the details of what he said to you, we all heard that he was yelling at you which only means one thing... You're no longer protected by him in this school, and I will show you what it means to be vulnerable as a teacher with no protection." I yawned, obviously bored at the conversation that was going on. "I'll be waiting." She looked like she wanted to get physical with me, but something held her back, and a smirk crawled up her face. "Even if no one knows yet, everyone suspects that both of you are constantly fucking." She giggled. "Why, Mrs. Lyla? Your husband can't keep up with your desires? Or are you scared of having his infected and rotten penis in you? Don't you think your body is the best fit for his kind of penis?" She mocked as she giggled like a maniac. Her cheeks were bright red and blood had already started pouring from her forehead which she had hit. She didn't care about the blood that was running down towards her nose. "You need to go to the nurses' office, Sara. You're bleeding." I ignored her words, and was genuinely concerned this time. She was bleeding really fast, and I didn't want to get in trouble because she was in my office. I moved to grab a box of tissues for her, but she slapped my hand away. "Don't you dare bring those shrivelled hands up to my face again, Lyla." She snarled at me and grabbed her handkerchief from her tiny purse, dabbing some of the blood off her forehead. "I'm only here to tell you that I will be showing you what true power sounds like." I scoffed. "Yeah, true power. I was the one standing while you were the one on the floor not quite long ago." I mocked her. "Is that your definition of 'power'? You need to up your vocabulary then if that is what you think it means." "You bitch!" She rushed again and pushed me towards the wall until I hit my head against it. "Just watch and see, you will be begging for your life when I'm done with you! Even your wretched husband will not save you once I'm done with you. I will show the whole world that you are a shameless slut who fucks her student! Just watch and—" "What is going on here?" A cold voice came from the front of my office.Chapter 50The Twist.Lyla Atelo.“I'm not…”“…wealthy enough to purchase this? Of course I know that. Sage gifted this to you, right?” Her eyes were beaming in joy. She didn't look disgusted at all about anything.“What other things did he get for you?” She peered into the box that sat in front of us, trying to rummage through it.“You know I can't accept this, right?” Right now, I needed her support for me to turn down these gifts. It was too much. I couldn't handle something this big.“Why not?” Ivy paused and lifted her head to stare at me with a frown.“It's not right, and you know that.” I tried to stress out, but Ivy didn't seem to be following. “He is… you know, he's my student. I'm his teacher. This kind of thing isn't supposed to be going on between us.”Ivy's eyebrows rose further up and she rolled her eyes. “Take it as a simple gift from a student.”“Simple? You call this simple?” I pointed to the document that still lay on the table. “It's a freaking Jewellery store. Not
Chapter 49A Brand New Owner.Lyla Atelo.Sage wasn't in school for the rest of the week, and today was Friday. I had texted him over and over again, but he never responded. I was tempted to go over to his house, but I didn't want a repeat of the last time.I was currently sitting in my office when the door was forcefully pushed open, and my least favourite person walked into the office.“Hello, Sara.” I folded my hands on my table and sat up to face her squarely. She gave me a once-over before taking in my office as if she had never been here before.“Will Sage be coming for Camp?” She asked outrightly.“Excuse me?”“You heard me right. Or are you dumb?”I choose to ignore her choice of words. “I heard you loud and clear, but what I don't understand is why you're asking me.”“Aren't you the one he's fucking?” She said calmly, not at all fazed by the vulgarity of what she was saying.“If you were remanded in court and asked to prove those allegations, would you be able to?”“Don't you
Chapter 48Naughty Little Slut.Lyla Atelo.I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed and optimistic for some unknown reason. I turned to my side, watching Michael sleep peacefully beside me. I rolled my eyes and began to prepare for school.“You're quite late today. That's so unlike you.” Dominic, one of my male colleagues, pointed out as we walked side by side down the corridor.I shrugged. “I slept late, and I woke up late.”His mouth curved into a small smile, “Your husband kept you up all night, aye?” He teased slightly, and it took all of me not wince at his words.I forced a smile on my face with a little ‘heh heh’ to avoid the question. “So, are you prepared for the camping experience?”He understood my discomfort and immediately changed the subject. “I wasn't picked. There are only two male teachers coming while the rest are females. Aren't you aware of this?” He squinted as if trying to remember something. “Seeing that you're the coordinator of the camp?”“Coordinator?” I
Chapter 47Coming To Camp?Lyla Atelo.I came home with a stupid smile on my face. Sage had made my entire evening and I was just smiling like a fool.“You're back," my husband appeared from the corner of the doorway leading to the kitchen. He wore an apron which suggested that he was cooking.I frowned slightly at the sight of that, while waiting for him to complain that I had come home late.“I'm back, yes.” I smiled a little at him.“And in high spirits as well.” He noted that part, “I hope you had a great day at work.”“I did. How about you?” I shrugged off my shoulder bag which was beginning to get heavy and set it on the table, taking in a deep breath of what he was cooking.“I made dinner. Would you like some?” He noted the actions of my nose before asking, but I shook my head immediately.I knew my husband by now. I could guess what he wanted from me, but I waited for him to say it. Michael never did any nice things for me unless he wanted something in return, and this wasn't
Chapter 46Take Me Home.Lyla Atelo.Sage did not say anything until the car came to a stop in a luxurious shopping mall where he went back to driving mode, parking the car at the exclusive parking lot. He stepped out to open the car for me, taking my arm in his."What are you doing? Where are we going? Why are we here?" I asked him even if I could guess what exactly it was that we were doing here."Shopping." He shrugged. "I saw on the internet that you should take a woman shopping when she is angry. It— ""But I'm not angry. Why would I be?"He gave me a quick look before shutting the car. "Yeah, right, you aren't. But I'm here to apologise anyway."Amidst my protests, Sage had his arms hooked around mine until we reached one of the most expensive jewellery stores in the city."Pick anything you'd like. Diamonds. Gold. Silver. Precious stones. Anything." He said as he signalled one of the sales assistants to come over. The girl gave me a once-over, and she did not hide her displeasu
Chapter 45In The Car.Lyla Atelo."Get In the car, Lyla." Sage's voice came in a little stronger this time as he looked over my shoulders. "Unless you want your colleagues to keep speculating that something is going on between us."Our eyes met when he said that, and I paused to think. Did he also have in mind the same question I had? I wanted to ask if there was actually something going on between us, but I didn't dare voice my question out. I didn't want to sound desperate, but still... something that Michelle said earlier egged me at the back of my mind."What do you think about Ivy?" I averted my gaze from his face and looked down to the tarred road. I looked everywhere else but at him. "Is it true you're into older women, and I'm just one of your conquest?"I suddenly felt the cold night wind hit my skin, and I looked up in alarm to see Sage backing away from him. He stared at me with an emotion I couldn't decipher before spinning his car key between his thumb and index finger.
