Chapter three.

Pari's pov

I quickly feel for my key in my bag and open the door. I sigh when my stomach let's out a loud grumble, stating its need for food.

Jeez, am so hungry.

I groan making my way to the kitchen, time to prepare dinner.

45 minutes past from working in the kitchen.

"Pari am  home." Dad hollers just in time as I set the tray on the table.

Perfect timing

"Dad." I yell "Dinners ready." My eyes roams around the table, making sure everything is set.

"And where is kelvin?" Dad ask. His eyes droopy with bags under.

It must be hard running a restaurant.

"I haven't seen him since this morning." I shudder as I remember the mess kelvin was as he stumbles through the door this morning, probably the effect alcohol.

I knew he went clubbing. I can only send thanks to the heavens that dad wasn't here to witness it.

"He stays out late this days." He mumbles "guess I will have to talk to him about that."

I sigh twirling my fork in my plate.

"Is there something you're not telling me." Dad ask eyeing me suspiciously.

I open my mouth to talk but is cut off by his voice.

"Don't tell me you're pregnant." Dad gasp. His pupil shrinking in horror.

"What?" I choke as I grab the glass of water in front of me and down it in one gulp. "Hell no dad, I am not pregnant."

Gosh... He does have such a wild imagination. And here I am wondering why I think of spongebob in the middle of a Physis class.

"Good, I don't want to be a grandparent so soon." He breath out in relief "so what's it you're not telling me?"

"OK, we got two good ones and a bad one." well more like one good one and two bad ones. "So which one do you want to hear first?"

"Hmm the bad one." He reply shoving more food in his mouth.

"OK....... "I stretch "I have to quit working at De marts."

"And the good ones?"

"Mr Xavier is dropping the case, and..... " I pause playing with my now incredibly looking finger.

He raise an eyebrow telling me to go on.

"I got a job as a p.a at X&O, You know the multi billion-naira company." I blurt out as I wait for his reaction.

"How did you do it?" Dad ask as his eyes lits up.

"Well you know me and my magic." I said playfully.

"Yeah, like daughter like father." He says proudly making me chuckles.

Wow. It went better than I expected.

Me quitting De marts isn't much of a big deal since its temporary, that's until I get a better job, and I suck at the waiter job after all.

I smile as I dig into by plate of pasts and egg sauce, maybe this wasn't such a bad ideal after all.

But deep down I know Mr Xavier doesn't wants me to be his personal assistant cause he likes me, this is about his stupid ego that can't let the drink incident go

If he want revenge he ain't gonna get it. I can't wait to see my pay.

Pari's pov

I walk towards my mirror hanging beside my makeup table checking out my reflection for the fourth time this morning.

"Hello there sexy." I greet my self as I checkout my dressing, which is a blue ripped jeans and a light blue T-shirt  that says 'sexy bitch'

I know its totally my style.

"Let's go get some bitches." I wink at the mirror then make my way downstairs.

"Dad am out." I holler as I strode down the stairs.

"Aren't you going to have breakfast." Dad asks as he takes a sip from his black coffee.

Urgh I wonder how people drink that thing.

"Nope." I reply popping the 'p' "I am late."

"Hmm Pari have you heard from kelvin." Dad asks then he sets down the newspaper he was reading.

"Nope." I reply again popping the p. Hope the bitch gets grounded.

"Umm pari." Dad calls when I got to the door.

"Yes.... "I groan, turning 180° to face him.

What's with all the questions?

"You aren't wearing shoes" He deadpans.

"Really?" I huff, my eyes now on my bare foot "That's why its feels so cold."

*************

I enter the building. The sweet scent of coffee rushing into my nostrils.

Huh......  perfect place to have breakfast .

I look around and found the place completely deserted until I spot a familiar figure sitting at a table in a secluded corner at the other side of the room.

'Seems he booked it for the morning ' I muse walking towards the table.

Rich people.

"you are late" He states taking a glance at his expensive looking watch.

"Sorry." I apologise then take a sit opposite him.

He must be a time freak.

Am just 7 minutes late.

"May I take your orders." A waiter who literally appeared out of thin air asks.

"Yes, I want a hamb..... "

"No." Xavier replies, cutting me shut "we will order after the meeting "

"What? but am hungry."

"You can order after the meeting." He repeats, this time sternly.

"Then let's start." He states, then brings out some files from a bag I didn't notice until now.

"I have your class schedule, when you not in class you should be at work." He pause as he looks at me "so don't even try to fool me"

"You are to assist me in the office and to business occasions "

Hell, no. I hate those rich parties, I remember when I was six and my ex-step-mom would make me go with her. Geez its so boring, well I can just quit on my first day of work, I thought as a ghost smile took over my lips.

"You can't quit until six months over." He says as if reading my thoughts, making the smile on my lips disappear as fast as it appeared.

Is he reading my mind?

"I am not reading your mind." He says again.

"How did you know what I was thinking?" I asks suddenly afraid, what if he is an alien?

"Cause that's what people like you would think." He scowls.

"Excuse me."

"What?" He asks sharply.

"Well that's what idiots like you would say." I mutter to myself.

"What did you just say?" he snarls.

"Nothing." I smile innocently.
