Chapter fifteen

Kayla’s POV

The trip back home was weird. I had my things packed into my fathers car and had to stay in the backseat talking to willow.

We chattered on and on, catching up on what we didn’t know about each other.

I had expected her to be a teenager but she was in her early twenties. This made a ton of difference in the way I saw her.

My father drove us to a mountain to rest as he excused himself to meet someone.

Willow and I stayed on the hood of the car, staring at the flower fields which spread out before us.

“Those flowers only grow on mountains,” she said to me as I smiled.

“I know. I love staying on mountains because of them. They help with my thoughts.”

She laughed. “It’s so cool having a sister. I can’t believe it. I know we’re not from the same father but at least we shared the same mother.”

“Yeah.”

I looked down to my feet to see a few worms popping their heads out of the earth.
