Chapter 4

I still had one last wish to fulfill for Noah.

I needed to save Harper’s life, but I had no idea how to make that happen.

I waited ages for Noah to pick me up like he had said. After a few hours, I decided to drive to Blackmore Mountain alone. The night was cold and I sat on the villa’s steps.

Finally, headlights of a car appeared. It was Noah.

“Noah, You’re here.”

Noah seemed to be unhappy.

“What did you tell my parents today? They called Harper after you left , and yelled at her on the phone. Harper was so upset, she ran into the street. She got hit by a car. Are you happy now?”

Last time, Harper died the same way.

She bled out after a car crash. Her death haunted Noah and made him grieve for years. If Noah thought me as a friend before, this turned his feelings for me to pure hatred.

In my memory, this accident happened a month after I became his Luna. What brought this accident forward in time?

I realized that I changed the timeline.

I had been wondering how to fulfill Noah’s third wish. Now it was staring me in the face.

“You are here to yell at me, or to save her?”

“What’s that supposed to mean? Don’t forget you are just an Omega, not a healer!”

“She needs blood, doesn’t she? I’ll give her mine. I’m her twin sister.”

Noah stared at me for a moment. I could tell that he was wondering if I was crazy.

“Yes. You owe her that. Let’s go to the healing center.”

He basically shoved me into his car, and sped to the healing center.

Nurses immediately drew 400cc of blood from me.

Omegas were said to make good blood donors, but 400cc was the limit in one sitting.

The healer said to Noah, “This will buy Miss Harper time, but it’s not enough. All we can do is to pray Harper holds on.”

I looked at Noah, standing outside the treatment room. His tears slipped as he watched Harper.

I sighed and turned to the healer. “Take another 400cc from me.”

The healer said, “No. You’ll collapse.”

“I’ll rest later,” I said. “Harper’s life matters more now.”

A nurse rushed in. “Healer! Miss Harper’s losing her heartbeat.”

The healer looked at me. “Are you sure? This could harm you.”

All this time, Noah had just stood beside me without a word. He finally looked at me, and there was a hint of hesitation in his eyes, as if he was weighing my life against Harper’s.

“It’s fine. I want to do this for Harper.”

Noah had risked his life for me. Saving the one he loved felt like nothing less.

But I underestimated the side effect of losing too much blood. I felt the room was spinning, then everything went black.

When I woke, I was in a healing bed. No sign of Noah.

Did I save Harper?

I checked the clock on the wall. I only had one hour left.

The news program was playing footages of the meteor shower. It was truly stunning, but I had missed it.

I guessed that certain things might never change. Noah and I were never meant to watch the meteor shower together. Something would always get in the way.

The door opened. It was Noah.

“Harper is fine now.”

Good. That was his third wish. I owed Noah nothing this time.

“Charlotte… I promised to watch the meteor shower with you. You mentioned traveling to the Starfall Valley before. Let me go with you. Think of it as a honeymoon.”

It was too late.

“No, stay with Harper. She’s still recovering.”

Noah came closer, “Aren’t you the one who has always wanted to go there? I said I would go with you. You’re my Luna now and I should do this for you.” He added, “I will have my assistant book the tickets. Once you’re okay, we will leave for our honeymoon.”

I grabbed his hands. “Noah, don’t.”

Noah glanced down at our joined hands, and I could see a hint of surprise in his eyes.

I said, “You don’t have to feel guilty. I saved Harper because I wanted to do it for you. And now, I don’t owe you anything anymore.”

Noah was confused. “What are you talking about?”

I stared at his hand in mine. Even now, his right hand still trembled slightly on rainy days, and there was scar, the one from saving me.

Memories and a sharp heartache washed over me.

“Back then, when you saved me… your hand ended up like this. Do you ever regret it?” I asked.

“Of course not. But I would have done the same for anyone else.”

“Even during the earthquake?”

“Yes. Whoever I was trapped with, I would have saved them.”

Of course. Noah was a good Alpha. When he saved me, I had just been another member of his pack for him, someone he was duty-bound to protect.

I tried to force a smile, but tears spilled anyway.

“Noah. You are such a good werewolf. It was me, making you choose me as your Luna.”

Seeing my tears, Noah looked panicked. He reached up to wipe my tears away.

“What are you saying? That’s not…”

Noah didn’t finish his words. He looked at me and something in his eyes shifted.

We drew closer and closer. I could hear his heartbeat and his breath.

He raised his hands and touched my face. Just as we were about to kiss, his assistant rushed in urgently.

“Alpha, Miss Harper is awake. She is asking for you."
