Chapter 3: Obervers are worried

"Why Olivia and not Camila?" he asked and Mr Carter looked at him not sure if now is the time to tell him or if he needed to wait a while.

He looked at the two ladies chatting in the garden and moved Mr Garcia further away to a place he considered safe. He got closer and spoke in a very low tone, so only Mr Garcia would hear what he had to say

"Ths is the reason why I want Olivia and not Camila," he began and Mr Garcia listened attentively

Back in the garden, the two ladies were getting along so well since they have so much in common.

"I didn't know you liked those," Mrs Carter commented

"It is relaxing you should try it sometime," Mrs Garcia said

"I am glad we met, I enjoy your company very much. Now I can boast of two best friends," she said

"Oh, that is great. Perfect number, we can have a lady's day out," came Patricia's voice from behind them.

"Hello Patricia," Mrs Carter welcomed and Mrs Garcia looked on

"I am parched, I need a glass of drink," Patricia said and sat down next to Mrs Carter.

Mrs Carter called for another bottle of drink and glass which was brought in by a servant in uniform.

"Patricia, meet Mrs Garcia, my husband's best friend's wife," Mrs Carter introduced

"Nice to meet you," Patricia greeted with a handshake and filled her glass with a drink

"I hope I am not interrupting anything?" Patricia said making Mrs Carter laugh

The three ladies quickly bonded on the based that, they have so much in common. The men joined them later.

"I can see you made a new friend," Mr Carter commented making Mrs Carter smile.

They spend the rest of the day doing other things. Mr and Mrs Garcia left for their home when it was 5 pm.

"I saw you discussing something with Mr Carter, what was it about?" Mrs Garcia asked undressing the bed

"It was business," Mr Garcia replied wondering how to break the news about Mr Carter's choice of a bride for his son to his wife.

How can he tell his wife, Mr Carter chose Olivia as a bride for his son? He picked the pillow from the bed and helped her undress the bed

"Why are you lying?" she questioned pausing what she was doing and starring at him

"What makes you think, I am lying?" he asked averting her gaze.

"You do forget, I am your wife and we have been married for twenty-five years," she pointed out

"Okay," he replied and sat on the bed making Mrs Garcia also sit on the bed

"Okay, Mr Carter has chosen a bride for his son from our family," he said and Mrs Garcia smiled

"O mine, that is amazing," she said excitedly without waiting for him to complete his statement by already concluding it was Camila.

And that was also because she didn't know Mr Carter knew Olivia.

"So when is the engagement party," she asked excitedly

"He would let me know by close of day tomorrow," he replied not sure if he should let her know it is Olivia they are talking about and not her daughter Camila.

"This is going to be the best year of our life. Gosh, I have a wedding to plan," she said excitedly and lay on the bed and Mr Garcia also lay down in silence allowing her to have her moment for now.

It was 7 am, Monday morning, Mr Garcia got ready for work and Jonathan came downstairs already dressed.

"Are you ready son?" he asked

"Yes, Dad," he replied wearing a black suit

"Where is your sister, it is 7 am, breakfast time," he asked

"She was on her phone by the time I went to sleep at midnight. I am very sure she didn't sleep early," Jonathan replied

"FBI, I didn't know you had my room bugged. Did you install CCT too?" Camila said descending the stairs

"Good morning," Olivia greeted

Jonathan and Mr Garcia responded to her greetings but Camila did not. Mrs Garcia joined them in the living room in high spirits. Mr Garcia proceeded to the dining area and the rest followed after greeting Mrs Garcia.

"Mum, you seem very happy this morning, what is the good news?" Camila asked noticing the exciting aura surrounding Mrs Garcia

"I am very excited. Let's all sit down I and I will tell you," she said and they all sat down behind the table.

Olivia remained in the kitchen cleaning up the place as her food gets cold.

"Okay, Camila, you are always on social media, I believe you know Mr Carter?" she began

"Sweetheart, it is too early," Mr Garcia cautioned

"Whether I say it now or tomorrow, it doesn't change the news," she said and turned to her daughter

Jonathan dishes some vegetables and scrambled eggs into his plate and grabbed a toasted bread. Mr Garcia poured himself some tea.

"You know his son right?" she asked making Camila interested in what she was about to say

"Yes, Ethan Carter," she replied

"I have seen a picture or two of him. He looks like someone who doesn't like the media attention that much. There is less of him on social media. Anyway, what about him?" she added with a smile

"Well," Mrs Garcia acknowledged excitedly

"My love, now would not be a good idea," Mr Garcia pointed out

"Now is fine," she said and turned her gaze to Camila

"You are the Carter's chosen bride," she said in one breath and Camila's eyes widened

"Me? They chose me?" Camila asked with excitement

"Oh, so the rumours are true. I can't believe he chose me," Camila said excitedly and Mr Garcia lowered his head.

"Wow, congratulations, sis. You make a fine bride," Jonathan said happy for his sister

Mr Garcia felt sad knowing how events will turn out when they finally realize Camila is not the chosen bride but none of them noticed as they were excited about the news they have just heard.

Mr Garcia and Jonathan left for work after breakfast and Mrs Garcia took Camila to the spa.

"My dear, you need to look your best. Your father will be confirming the date and place of the engagement," she said and Camila excitedly acknowledged.

They went for a body massage, did waxing and also used the sauna. While Mrs Garcia and her daughter were having a good time, there was a heated argument in the house of Mr Carter.

"Why would you choose a servant girl as a bride for your son?" Mrs Carter asked

"What makes you think she is a servant girl?" Mr Carter asked getting ready to go visit one of his company's branches

"Because that is what she is," she replied crossing her hand over her chest

"Okay, fine. She is a servant girl, does that matter?" he said looking at her sternly and Mrs Carter went silent

"Shall I remind you where I pick you up from?" he asked looking at her

"Good. The engagement party is at the Garcia's at 6 pm today. Make sure it is perfect," he said and exited the bedroom

"Why would he choose a servant girl for my handsome son? Going to the slum to choose a family was already bad. Why would he prefer their filth to their treasure?" she asked herself looking in the direction he had exited the bedroom.

She picked up her phone and called Patricia

"Hello Patricia, you are not going to believe what my husband did?' she began

"What did he do this time?" Patricia asked

"Can you believe he chose a servant girl of the Garcias as a bride for my son?" she said

"No way. Why?" she asked

"I don't know. When I raised my concern, he wants to talk about where he had picked me," she said

"Why would he bring that up? This is your son, we are talking about," Patricia replied

"Exactly my point. Now he is asking me to organize the engagement party," she added infuriated

"So are you going to do it?" asked Patricia

"Do what?" she asked

"Organized the engagement party?" asked Patricia

"I don't know but it doesn't look like I have a choice. You are my friend, help me out," She requested

"Are you home?" Patricia asked

"Yes, I am," she replied

"Good, your son is coming to New York today right?" she asked

"Yes," she replied wondering where she was going with that

"Good, I have an idea," Patricia added

"Great, come over let's put something together for tonight," Mrs Garcia said

At the real Easte, Mr Garcia's company, he received a call from Mr Garcia confirming the time and location for the engagement and informed him, his wife would be helping with the planning.

Mr Garcia acknowledged being unable to tell Mr Carter about the confusion at home. He left the company early asking Jonathan to take care of things as there was something he needed to take care of us.

Meanwhile, Mrs Garcia was heading back home with Camila when Mrs Carter called

"Hello," she replied excitedly

"I just want to ask you something, woman to woman," Mrs Carter said after acknowledging Mrs Garcia's greetings

"Are you aware your servant girl is the chosen bride for my son?" she asked

"What!" Mrs Garcia exclaimed making Camila jump out of her seat due to her mother's sudden reaction on the call.

"Mum, what happened?" she asked looking at the shock registered on her mother's face

"What are you saying?" Mrs Garcia asked trying to understand if she did hear that or if she imagined it just now

"I am saying, your servant girl is the chosen bride for my son," she repeated

"No! No! That can't be," she said still holding the phone to her ears.
