Chapter 2

Author: Bamboo Yoyo
But the moment I saw the actual headlines, I mentally broke down on the spot. None of my mental preparations prepared me for what I saw.

The first headline read, "Breaking News! A certain A-lister was sent to the hospital because of… anal fissures!"

The second headline showed, "This just in! A certain A-lister is carted out of the powerful heir's private residence!"

What the heck was going on? I recognized every word I read, but when they were strung together, I found myself unable to comprehend the meaning at all!

As I stared at the viral headlines featuring me, I could only clench my fists tightly out of sorrow and rage.

"Dammit! Who was the one who started all these nonsensical rumors? I just got my hemorrhoids removed, that's all! What the hell is going on?"

Having hemorrhoids was just a normal health issue. Had the headlines reported that, I'd be able to twist things in my favor.

But now, the hemorrhoids were reported as an anal fissure instead. To make things worse, I supposedly got my ass torn right after spending some time with a man.

Great. My stardom was officially over.

I was thinking why Pierce wanted to invite me over to his place for a candlelit dinner in the first place. It turned out that he wanted to ruin my career forever.

That sly bastard must have been cooking up this scheme for a long time!

I closed my eyes and fainted once again from the shock.

Thanks to Pierce's scheme, I was painted as a gay celebrity. Not only that, but I was also depicted as a pretty boy who did everything he could to get into Pierce's pants.

The outside world thought that I had earned my awards simply from bedding Pierce. Because of that assumption, my reputation was in tatters, and I was utterly humiliated.

The amount of money made from the fabricated posts of me using underhanded tactics to rope Pierce into a scandalous relationship was enough for the owners of the clickbait accounts to buy actual properties in the city.

In any case, I was officially doomed.

At the moment, I, the so-called underhanded slut thanks to the rumors on the Internet, was cooped up at home. Since I was still taking up the negative spotlight in the industry, I couldn't receive any gigs at all. Right now, I could only live off my savings.

Thank goodness Alex was a reliable manager. She was able to score me a gig with a variety show instead of letting me rot away at home.

It was a variety show centered around music. The mentors of this show were 20-year-old fresh-faced pretty boys who had just started out in the entertainment industry, and yet they had the gall to act like they were worth a million dollars.

If this were to happen in the past, not only would I skip out on the gig, but I'd also insult them to the moon and back. Those youngsters didn't know jackshit about performing, yet they were granted the privilege to sit their asses on their chairs and prattle on and on about singing techniques.

But now, I had no choice. That was why I could only reluctantly attend the variety show as a guest.

Then again, this episode was different from the previous episodes. Apparently, a mysterious guest would be attending this episode's shoot as well.

The mysterious guest's chair was located in the mentors' row, but its back faced everyone else. No one knew the identity of the guest sitting in that particular chair.

Then again, I wasn't curious about the mysterious guest in the slightest. There was no way the director could invite Pierce to the show, right?

As long as Pierce wasn't there, no one else could affect me throughout the shoot.

The mysterious guest had nothing to do with me. I just wanted to attend the variety show, then leave with my appearance fee.

After I was done with my performance, thunderous applause greeted me instantly. The applause was a sign that the audience acknowledged my singing skills.

I did start out as a singer, after all. Now that I had proven my actual skill level, I felt that I'd be able to return to the A-list soon enough.

All I had to do was stay quiet and endure the round where a young mentor would bombard me with lectures and questions. I did my best to look sincere while gazing respectfully at the young man before me, who currently had one leg propped onto the other.

"Hello, Mr. Jenkins." I greeted my mentor, Thomas Jenkins.

I had already come up with various answers for all of the potential questions Thomas might hurl at me later. Seeing as I had been working in the entertainment industry for almost a decade, there shouldn't be any questions out there that were too difficult for me to answer.

Meanwhile, Thomas continued to prop one leg onto the other while supporting his chin with both hands flippantly. After studying me for quite some time, he finally tossed out his question.

"Hey, Daniel. What do you think about the Internet rumors claiming that you're Mr. Kirkland's lackey?"

The entire audience broke out into loud chatter the moment they heard Thomas' question. It was an extremely sharp, nonsensical, and idiotic question, to say the least.

In fact, the nature of this question was as dumb as Thomas the dumbass.

Thomas and the mentors around him all stared at me in a mixture of curiosity, amusement, and anticipation. They were waiting to see how I'd respond to this question.

All I could think of was one thing—I was screwed.

I couldn't believe it. A question proposed by a brat who was still wet behind his ears actually got me tongue-tied.

I was about to come up with a polite answer to gloss over this segment when I was cut off by the sounds of gas being ejected. It appeared that the mysterious guest's chair that had been facing everyone under the spotlight was spun around.

The person sitting on that very chair… happened to be my very same rival, Pierce.

Wow. When life gave me lemons, it didn't just hand them to me—it apparently decided to squirt lemon juice right into my eyes as well.

Pierce angled the microphone at his lips before speaking up in a husky voice.

"Nonsense! The truth is, I'm Daniel's lackey!"

I used to be an A-list celebrity. Now, I was an E-lister who was still extremely famous… or infamous, so to speak. My fanbase basically consisted of fans who loved me, haters who hated me, and anti-fans who used to love me but now hated me. The polarization in my fanbase was severe, to say the least.Someone claimed that Pierce and I were a match made in heaven. I liked seeing comments like this the most, so I dumped a shit ton of money into grooming my comment section to only show similar comments. There was a user who stated that Pierce had used the power of money in snagging all the best scripts for me. Ergo, I was a sugar baby with Pierce as my sugar daddy. They also left a disclaimer, saying that they were willing to delete their comment if I didn't like what they said. All they hoped was that Pierce wouldn't get revenge on them in the future.Well, I liked seeing comments like this as well. The feeling of being spoiled and pampered by my long-time rival was the best feelin

Heavens knew how loud I was in bed last night. I thought I was in a hotel room, which was why I kept moaning up a storm without a care in the world. Now, could I still sneak out of this place while I still had the chance?I glanced over at the side of the bed, which was left empty for quite some time. Then, I rubbed my ass, which was still a little sore. In the end, I chose to escape via the window. The moment I opened the window, I barely had time to stick one leg out when someone opened the bedroom door from the outside.Pierce stood at the doorway with a plate of toast and a glass of milk in his hands. He just stared at me, clearly dumbstruck. When I saw him, I breathed a sigh of relief. Then, I placed a finger near my lips, shushing him."Dude, I'm going to bail first. Let's do this again next time—uh, I mean, let's never do this anymore. It's too embarrassing."That was when I saw a trace of embarrassment flashing across Pierce's face. He then shuffled to the left slightly

Shit! How dare that asshole toy with me! If his mother—my older sister—were to find out about what he did, she'd definitely beat him up to the point he'd be bedridden for the rest of his life! But those were the consequences Thomas would face in the future. Most importantly, what should I do now? That old creep was about to reach out and touch me!I tried to turn on my heel and run, but I felt extremely light-headed and weak. I ended up crashing into the door and collapsing into the door's arms.Um… Wait, the door had arms?Oh. I wasn't lying against the door. I was lying against a row of abs…"Thomas Jenkins, you're dead meat." I heard Pierce's voice.Thomas' shriek rang out after that. "Piercy, what are you doing here? Wait, why are you holding that bastard?"I heard Pierce chuckling softly in return. "You really should find out who exactly the so-called bastard is."His voice was extremely glacial at that point. Suddenly, I found myself wondering if his lips were equally col

I had no idea why I'd think about Pierce for no reason. He was the one with ulterior motives toward me, and yet his face kept haunting me.Could it be that I was actually gay?In order to stop overthinking, I decided to go hunting for gigs. Thankfully, Alex was able to arrange for a meeting between me and a producer who wasn't intimidated by my reputation.Weirdly enough, that producer wanted me to have a meal with him as a prerequisite condition.Of course, I knew what it actually meant to have a meal with business associates in this messed-up industry that was practically swimming in a sea of sins, but I still chose to go. After all, I was left with far too much time on my hands, and I didn't want to spend it thinking about Pierce uncontrollably.Besides, I wasn't scared of the producer at all. This was just a meal to me. If he dared to lay a finger on me later, I could always turn down the gig.I didn't need money, after all. Even if I never took over my family business, I cou

Thomas was whisked away by an ambulance. But the truth was, he only suffered from mild lacerations on his face. Both Pierce and I knew when not to overdo it in terms of fighting. But youngsters like Thomas cared about their precious looks the most. Not to mention, Thomas had tons of money to spend. Naturally, he had to call an ambulance just to get his injury treated. Those who didn't know what happened might have assumed that Thomas suffered from a concussion thanks to his dramatics. As for me, I walked out of the studio, completely unscathed. Pierce flanked me protectively the whole time. His bodyguards were already posted outside the main exit. They stopped the paparazzi, who were crowding around the exit, from swarming us before forming a path for us to leave."Thanks a lot, Pierce," I said to him after getting into his car.It was my first time speaking with Pierce in a serious manner, despite having known him for many years. I didn't expect that I'd have to thank him as wel

  • My Archenemy: Also My Prince Charming?   Chapter 3

As soon as Pierce's words fell, everyone in the studio was stunned, to say the least. The atmosphere went eerily quiet for a long moment.Only the director's elated voice could be heard coming from the background. "Holy shit! The number of viewers has skyrocketed! Our show has gone viral!"Of course, a certain someone screeched like a banshee from the mentors' row."Oh my god! What are you talking about, Piercy? Are you actually declaring yourself as that filthy bastard's lackey?"Thomas shot up from his seat instantly. Clearly, he didn't give a damn about keeping up his image as a celebrity. From the way he had addressed Pierce, I finally recognized him as the same Thomas who hailed from the elite Jenkins family, who lived next door.Thomas was a rich scion this whole time. That explained his arrogance and boldness. Even the question he asked was extremely rude and tactless. He didn't even bother sparing my pride at all.I had a vague impression of Thomas, so to speak. He had
