32. ABETTING THEFT AND ASSAULT

Morning crawled upon me silently. 

All night, I was in the theater and only made my way out only at one am.

A young man was brought to the hospital in an ambulance. He was a victim of a drunk driver's reckless driving and he had to go into surgery immediately because he had his gut opened and his blood was staining the floors of the emergency room.

I was scared. Claire informed me that there was no doctor around that could attend to him right away.

"What do you mean? Surely there must be a surgeon on call." I yelled when I came into the room.

"There is none. We believe he has an internal organ ruptured and if we don't wheel him inside right now, we might lose him."

The man was groaning out loud in pain and James, one of the attending doctors was already cutting his clothes in half with a pair of scissors. Somehow, I wondered how his consciousness hadn't
