Chapter 6

Penulis: Cutie Kitty
Three days ago—wasn’t that when Chloe and Marcus were on their romantic getaway?

It was one thing for her to throw me under the bus, but she had the nerve to drag my late mother into her web of lies!

Just as my rage was about to boil over, the police arrived, putting an end to the chaos.

“Who sent the distress text message? What exactly is going on here?”

Julian shot me a venomous glare. I opened my mouth to speak, but he beat me to it, playing the victim and launching a shameless false accusation.

“Officers, you came just in time! This woman is my wife’s best friend. She tricked my wife into coming here, and she’s been missing ever since. I was worried sick and couldn’t get a hold of her, so I came over to search the place.

“While looking for my wife, I found out this woman’s running an escort business out of her home! Officers, you can’t let her walk free!”

I let out an incredulous laugh then fired back:

“You forced your way into my home under the pretense of looking for your wife, maliciously destroyed my private property and stole my jewelry.

“On top of that, you assaulted me physically, even ran a livestream to spread slanderous lies about me. All of that will send you behind bars for a very long time!”

Julian’s face turned pale, though he barked back: “You’re making things up! Do you have any proof? I have witnesses!”

The moment the words left his mouth, the thugs stepped forward one after another to back him up, claiming I was lying through my teeth.

When one officer turned to me and asked if I had any evidence to back up my claims, I remained silent.

Seeing me fall quiet, Julian beamed with smug triumph and urged the policemen:

“Please, take her away! You can’t let a criminal like her roam the street!”

Under the thugs’ mocking stares, my lips curled into a smile as I pulled up the feed from my home security system.

“You want proof? My cameras caught every single thing you did on tape!”

Handing the footage over to the police, I continued:

“They broke into my apartment out of nowhere and ransacked the place.”

I then laid out the entire sequence of events in detail. After reviewing the footage, the senior officer turned toward the thugs, his eyes cold and lethal.

“Outrageous! This is a blatant violation of the law!”

Julian had never expected me to have a card up my sleeve. His face turned sour at once, but still he refused to yield.

“I mean, you can’t blame it all on me! If she hadn’t kidnapped my wife, I wouldn’t have smashed any of her stuff!

“I can’t reach my wife at all! She must have done something to her!

“Where are you hiding her? What did you do to my Chloe?”

Where else could she possibly be? Out on a date with her secret lover, that was where.

Telling myself that, still I maintained a look of innocent concern.

“I genuinely have no idea where Chloe is. She only told me it was an emergency and begged me to cover for her, but she never specified where she was going.

“I haven’t been able to reach her either. Could something have happened to her?”

With that, I pleaded with the officers to help locate Chloe’s whereabouts.

I was done covering her dirty little secret. Now was the time to unveil her true colors to the world.

To speed up the search, I suggested leveraging the power of social media, posting online an urgent missing person alert.

The police acted immediately.

Before long, a response popped up in the inbox, with an attached photo.

When the file was opened, everyone in the room froze on the spot.

In the photo, Chloe was arm in arm with a strange man, the two exchanging an intimate smile—right in front of the entrance of a hotel.

“If you want to pursue true love, that’s your business, but that doesn’t give you the right to make me a sacrifice!“Besides, everything that happened to you is entirely your own doing. You’re reaping what you sowed, so don’t go blaming anyone else!”My sharp retort sent their rage over the edge. Her eyes bloodshot with fury, Chloe had Marcus pin me down in a tight grip. She then whipped out a heavy wood axe from behind her back, raising it high, ready to split my head open.“You worthless bitch, go to hell!”Just as the blade was about to cleave through my skull, the police burst onto the scene, apprehending them on the spot. They were no match for the officers and were restrained within seconds. After the police untied my ropes, I offered them a grateful smile and a sincere thank you.The captain waved his hand dismissively.“It’s our job. It’s a good thing you dialed emergency in advance and shared your location, or we never would have tracked you down this fast.”Chloe’s jaw droppe

That was not all. Julian had slashed Chloe’s face to ribboned rags, leaving deep flesh wounds and exposed bone underneath—a degree of disfigurement the surgeons could do little to help. While the paramedics rushed them to the hospital, an eager coworker posted a video of the whole bloody mess online. It didn’t take long for Chloe and Marcus to go viral, blowing up as internet sensation celebrities—the universally despised kind.Netizens flooded the comment sections with pure venom, labeling Chloe a “toxic hypocrite”, a “cheating slut” and declaring that “she belongs in burning hell”, saying the wretched pair deserved each other. When Chloe woke up and discovered her newfound infamy, the sheer shock of scrolling through thousands of hate messages sent her into a fresh coma.Knowing Chloe’s vengeful nature, I knew she wouldn’t take a loss like this lying down.I exercised extreme caution in every step I took after that day, yet I still managed to underestimate the depths of her vileness.

Chloe scrambled for an explanation, but failing to come up with a plausible excuse, she could only avert her eyes in agony, looking as if wishing the ground would swallow her whole.Realizing in that exact instant that he had been set up, Marcus began winking furiously at Chloe.“Chloe, you don’t look like you took a fall or lost any blood at all. What was that photo about?”“What photo? What on earth are you talking about?”As the two whispered frantically among themselves, I held up my phone and said in a razor-sharp tone:“I sent that photo. Chloe, I was the one who lured your lover here.“You’re the only one who knows how to forge evidence, you know. I’m not too bad myself.“If you can use my profile pic to fake a text thread, I can just as easily photoshopped an image of you bleeding out to drag your lover here.”I had known I needed Marcus at the scene to be my smoking gun.I had added him on Instagram, then sent him a fake photo of Chloe on the ground in a pool of blood.I fed h

With those words, I whipped out the intimate photos of Chloe and Marcus on their secret dates. This time round, I had taken extra precautions to keep Chloe from ruining me again.I had hired a PI early on to track them, keeping the photos ready on my phone for this moment.I met Julian’s eyes, my voice icy as I spoke again:“I don’t even smoke. The ashes you found around your house was from a man.“And that time Chloe claimed she was coming over for my birthday? She was out on a date with Marcus. The baby is his too, of course.”Julian’s eyes bulged. I pressed on without giving him a second to breathe.“I never sabotaged your marriage. She’s been using me as her scapegoat from day one.“Chloe isn’t half as innocent as she pretends to be. She was constantly badmouthing you behind your back.“She told me you were old, ugly, and reeked like a corpse. She said you had a terrible temper and beat her senseless every chance you got.“This is who she is—a compulsive liar who makes everyone loo

I had Susan lead me to the commotion. At the entrance to the building, I saw Chloe and Julian swarmed by a big crowd of onlookers.Julian was holding a massive banner in one hand and a megaphone in the other, roaring at the top of his lungs:“Vivian Brooks of this company is a monster! I have never seen a woman with a soul so completely wretched!“She was green with envy over my wife’s happy marriage, so she drugged her and hired a thug to violate her!“Because of her, my wife was knocked up with another man’s child! She did it all just to destroy our marriage. She is rotten to the core!”Just then, Chloe caught sight of me. She dropped straight to her knees in front of me, sobbing hysterically as tears and snot ran down her face.“Vivian, I treated you like my own sister! Why would you ruin me like this?“Was it really because you were jealous of my happy family? That I have a husband who adores and cherishes me?“No wonder you were always badmouthing my husband in front of me—you sim

“You really think your pile of cheap knockoffs is worth four million?”I flicked a frigid glance toward Chloe. She truly never missed an opportunity to drag me through the mud.I must have been utterly brainless in my past life to pour my heart out for this snake of a woman, only to end up getting slaughtered. My eyes froze over as I retrieved the authentic certificates of appraisal from my desk drawer and threw them at Julian’s face.“Who told you those were knockoffs? Every single piece you broke is certified authentic!”Clutching the certificates, Julian gaped in disbelief, shaking his head frantically.“No... no way! This is fake—it’s got to be fake!“How could you have the cash to afford these authentic collectibles?”I snapped back without a shred of mercy.“That is my business. You’d better worry about yours, not going bankrupt paying for them.“You assholes smashed everything to bits. Pay up, or I’ll throw every last one of you behind bars!”Realizing I was playing for keeps, C
