***Dylanne

Fuck no.

“Kimberley Anne Reed, I am not going to let you give some random guy, that we just met at Target, who probably looks like he has AIDS, a fucking blowjob.”

“But I'm just having fun. Why don't you try to have some fun, Dylly?” Her words slurred.

Yup, she was definitely drunk.

“My job is to take you home safely before your arrogant big brother,” I said with air quotes, “finds us. You know how he often tracks your phone.”

She smiled, tucking her blonde hair behind her ears, sizing the guy up. I swear, she was really drunk, and she would always do this thing where she shook her waist as a form of seduction.

Kimberley slid out of my hold, catwalking straight to the rando. I rushed behind her, breaking my heels midway. Fuck. Who even said wearing heels at 12 a.m. was sexy?

Kim had a lot to drink, and the distance from here to our apartment was far. Uber would take a while to arrive, and to top it off? No fucking signal.

Before she could reach him, I pulled her back, dragging her to the corner of the road. I pulled out my water and splashed it on her face. It wouldn't do much because that girl had drunk a big glass of beer and seven shots of whiskey.

“We need to get you home,” I murmured, holding my phone in the air, looking for a signal. It felt like a dead end. I'd been trying this for over an hour, and still… nothing.

No taxis, and I definitely didn't trust the AIDS guy.

“Dylly, I think he kinda likes me. Oh my god, he's calling me right now.”

“No, he isn't.”

“Dylly… why does your name start with D? Why not L like Lily or Y like Yilly?”

See what I mean?

I continued trying on the phone, unaware of the three men walking toward us.

“Hey, beautiful. You need some help?” one said to me, the other two licking their lips as they ogled me.

“No, thank you. We already have a ride coming.”

He moved closer, cheap cologne hitting me instantly. I pulled back, taking Kim with me in a protective hug.

“I said back off!” I yelled at him, ready to hit him with my beer bottle.

He just smiled with the other two hippies. “Ouuuuh, you feisty. You know I love some feisty bitches. And bitches like you get what you deserve.”

The other one pulled at Kim's hair, and for a minute, I could see she was scared. That did it. I dropped the beer bottle and our bags, pushing Kim to the side as I stood in front of her.

They laughed, each rubbing their arms together as they flexed their muscles. These guys were big; I'm not gonna lie. But this was a good time to flex my three years of taekwondo lessons.

One came at me out of nowhere and kicked me hard in the stomach — I doubled back for a second. Then he grabbed my boobs out of nowhere, and I screamed. I tried to push him off while the other held my hair, pulling from behind, his other hand over Kim's mouth. I thrashed my arms and legs, but it all seemed futile.

I tried to call for help, but their leader put a hand over my mouth. Everyone looked but didn't even try to help, and for the first time in a long time, my confidence dropped. I was scared.

I should protect Kim because she's in a vulnerable state right now, but I stood there, scared shitless, while one of them pulled her away.

“I thought you were feisty?” he said, his breath smelling like cheap beer. With his other hand, he held my arms, making them immobile.

“You're so beautiful to have a dirty little mouth,” he dragged a finger over my face.

“Easy girls don't do that, y'know.”

I closed my eyes, tears already slipping down my face. Exhaustion washed over me, but this wasn't just normal exhaustion. This was mixed with fear. He held my chin, making it difficult to shout, and I tried, but it seemed impossible.

I still moved, shaking him off. Before he could say a word, I spat at him. He smiled, his gold tooth glinting under the New York night lights. His hand swiped over it, and he stuck it into his mouth and licked it.

“Hmm, tasty. I bet every part of you is.” His hand slipped under my short skirt, ripping my buttoned shirt apart.

I tried to scream again until large hands pulled him back suddenly, followed by a blow. It was swift; I could barely see anything but black Derby shoes. I pulled back, this time able to take Kim into my arms and straighten myself.

My best friend's brother, Kai, beat them to a pulp. One by one, they scurried out of there, each holding their broken neck or jaw.

“Kai! You're back!” Kim ran into her brother's arms while he looked at me as if I were his worst enemy.

“You had one job: keep Kim safe. And here you are in the middle of nowhere, dressed like a slut.”

“Are you fucking kidding me? You just saw that I was being harassed!”

“And if I wasn't here to save you, they would've taken advantage of both of you.”

“I was trying to protect Kim!”

He didn't wait. He dragged Kim away, his other hand tugging at his necktie. I followed them but before I could walk to the car, Kai stopped me.

“You're not getting in.”

I scoffed, pushing my way through.

“You can't be serious. We are in the middle of nowhere. You can't possibly let me walk home like this,” I said, surprised. I blinked a few times, trying to see if this was happening right now or not some voodoo type shit.

“Yes I can, and yes you will.”

“What the fuck?!”

His eyes looked darker than how gray they were with a certain kind of anger I had never seen.

“You took her out tonight and you know she's a light drinker. Yet you let her drink this much and now here we are! I decided to leave for five fucking years and then I come back to meet this!” He screamed. “What the fuck, Dyl?!”

“If you could let me explain?”

He didn't. He put an already drowsy Kimberley into the car and drove off.

***Dylanne“I think you should hook up with some guys tonight, Dyl. Besides, you haven't had real fun in years,” Kim chattered beside me. She had spotted some “really hot” men who she thought would be down for a quick fuck. That's the thing with Kim. She says it as it is. Never sugarcoats. Never pretends.Yet here I am, lying to her about me and her brother. It's not like we did something together, but the date still counts, doesn't it? My eyes scanned the “boys” she had pointed at. I rolled my eyes and looked away because they just weren't my type. My eyes, however, landed right on the very person I was avoiding.Kai. But this time, he had his hands on a woman's back, helping her rub whatever it was.I swear I should look away and focus on Kim, the boys, and the pool. But I couldn't. My eyes stayed on them for a while, and when his hands reached lower to her waist, I stood up in a hurry. Who the fuck was she, and why was his hand on her?She looked back at him, guiding him as he rubb

***Kai My plan was failing—badly. How do you get a woman you're in love with to fall for you? Am I supposed to do something else?Is there something I'm doing wrong? My phone rang the moment I got out of the elevator, heading down to the poolside. It didn't take a genius to know it was my best friend, Rhys.“What?” I said into the phone.“Is my princess being an arrogant snob now? Chill. I just wanted to know if you're having some fun. Eating some chicks out.”“I'm busy.”“That is the whole point of this vacation. You were going to rest, and I was going to call to annoy you.”“I have work to do, but I'll go relax soon anyway. I need it.” I spotted Kim with Dylanne. They were both holding hands while Kim made a silent prayer close to the pool. Dylanne giggled, her smile soft enough to make my heart skip.“Okay… now there's silence. What's wrong?”“Nothing.”“That's a lie. I know when something's wrong. You know, every day you're annoying, but when you have something on your mind, you

****DylanneWe stepped into the halls of the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, a lavish five-star icon perched right on Lake Como's edge in Tremezzina, Italy. The Belle Époque glamour…pale yellow front, beautiful rooms, gold chandeliers hanging in shiny frames, sparkling under the Italian sun, gave the hotel's interior a smooth elegance. My plan had been to say no to this trip, especially when Kim told me Kai was coming along. That meant we would see each other often, and I wanted so very much to avoid that. But she somehow convinced me, and some part of my brain thought it wouldn't be bad to have him here. I bet it was the part that still thinks Kai and I have something left. I wheeled my bag, Kim yapping beside me, phone in hand and gum in her mouth.“I don't think Kai would come, anyway,” she commented when we stopped, letting security take our bags to our room while we finished check-in. My heart calmed, my breaths steady this time. But something still felt off, especially with the churning i

***KaiI had planned everything to be perfect. We would have a date in my private suite and then focus on business. Maybe I was being selfish, yes. Maybe it was me lying to myself that this was just a meeting and it meant nothing more to me.However, I did not expect Kim. I didn't even foresee it, and the shitty thing to top it off? I had totally forgotten she has a spare key to this room.Dylanne rushed into the bathroom the moment Kim opened the door.“There you are! Jeez, I've been calling you for ages.” She walked right in, her eyes catching the already set table, narrowing on it.“Uh… were you expecting someone?” She threw her Chanel bag onto the bed as she sat down in Dylanne's chair.“This is warm.” She looked behind me, eyes moving around the room. I know my little sister; she's two things: annoying and nosy. The annoying part, I can handle. The nosy part… not so much.“Someone else was here with you, right?”I cleared my throat, stuck a hand into my pocket, and sat in my chai

  • My Best Friend's Bad boy Brother    Chapter 5

****Dylanne I followed the bouncer into the elevator as it took us straight to the eleventh floor. Kai had sent a message, asking me to follow him instead. When the elevator made its pinging sound and opened, I stared at an empty corridor, gold-colored doors facing each other.“Room four,” the bouncer said, pushing the card key into my hands. I walked out of the elevator and looked around. Before I could turn and ask him anything else, he had already shut the elevator doors in my face.Jeez.I slowly walked by, scanning the doors for their numbers, and eventually got to room number four. I placed both hands on the cold door, a smell wafting from the room. This place already looked like it was made for celebrities and was eerily calm.“Kai,” I whispered, placing an ear on the door, listening to see if I heard any movement of some sort.“Kai,” I whispered again. This time, I crouched down, trying to see if I could spot any peephole.Look, I had the key, alright? But I've been jumped by

  • My Best Friend's Bad boy Brother    Chapter 4

***Dylanne No. There was no way he was the client I was working with. “You both know each other?” Rhys asked, his eyes darting between us. He helped pick up my pad and slipped it back into my hands. I moved back, looking for some kind of balance as I hit the door. “Sir…” My voice trailed off. “Are you sure this is the client I'm working with? Can't it be someone else?” “You know I can't do that, Dyl. Kai here needs our help for his company, and he's quite good at what he does. I referred you to him, so you'll both be working closely together.” No freaking way. “I can't work with him,” I said immediately. Kai's face twisted in confusion. “Why?” he asked right after. “I don't want to.” I looked back at Rhys, who was obviously confused out of his mind. “I can work with anyone else but him.” “Why? What's wrong with working with me?” Now I could hear the tease in his voice. He had planned this. He had made us work together in the office because there was no way my boss would make
