STRANGER IN MY ROOM

Irene looked at the notification that popped up on her phone with joy. She didn't expect that it would be so fast, and she was extremely lucky to audition for the best agency. She hoped to put in her best and be selected as an actress in Xan's Agency. Yes, she was confident and expectant to the day.

“ What did you say to Alice to get her worked up, knowing fully well that she is pregnant and does not need to be angered? "Uhhh” Robert asked, jolting Irene from her joyful moment.

“ What do you possibly think I can say to a mistress? Uhh, Is she really worth my time?” She replied, rolling her eyes at the couple. She was tired of bumping into these people. It would be best if she left the house for them. After all, she was starting afresh and their presence would only slow her down.

“Apologize to her Now ”

“I should do what?”.

“Apologize, and I will turn a blind eye to what you have done for the past few days.”

Irene scoffed in surprise. Whose statement was that? Wasn't she supposed to be the one demanding forgiveness and choosing when to turn a blind eye? Isn't she the one that was betrayed and hurt by both her fiancé and best friend? These ungrateful couples , as the saying goes, birds of the same feather, flock together. She wouldn't really blame them. She was only blinded not to see them for who they were early enough.

“ My word stands: I will not apologize for what I did not do wrong and, most importantly, to this mistress of yours”. With that, she walked out of the kitchen straight to her room.

“ Would you at least drop your pride and apologize for what you've done”. He said, but it seemed like his words had fallen on deaf ears. Her attitude in refusing to obey him made Robert upset. Irene never disobeyed him. She was always listening and was like a little lamb waiting for instructions to be passed. "Something doesn't sit right, or maybe she is still pissed at the news, he said, but she will get over it”, he reassured himself.

“Darling, how about we take a walk? The tensed atmosphere is not good for our baby”. Alice said with a soft voice, like she wasn't concerned, but her heart was boiling. She only needed Irene to apologize and bend to her rules for once at least, but she seemed unfazed.

“ Yeah, you are right, taking a walk is good for the baby's health, okay”.

“Am I also important to you? "You keep saying “the baby”. I'm equally important, right?”

“The baby is important, so you are” Robert said but one could not ignore the look in his eyes.

Alice gritted her teeth and walked alongside Robert to take a walk. Then she smiled mischievously. She knew this was the first step, and it would take some time for him to adjust, but he would eventually get used to it and accept her anyway.

Irene opened the door to her room and sat on her bed, looking at the room. Now she could not feel any warmth. She remembered vividly how she transferred this property to Robert, knowing fully well that was the reason he had not sent her packing , but she decided to leave the house anyway. She couldn't put up with their behavior, and it hurts to see under the same roof. She walked up to her wardrobe and began packing her belongings. It would be better if she moved out of the house when they are not around to avoid drama.

She left the house, removing all her belongings and heading straight to the hotel that was far from where Robert was. She hailed a taxi and arrived there on time. It was getting pretty late, and she needed to settle down. She walked up to the receptionist to book a room.

“Hello ma'am, How can I help you?”

“ I need to book a room”

“Pick from this menu ma'am ”

“ I will go with this one”

While waiting for the processing of her room, she saw a back profile of a tall man like the one she bumped into that night. She wished not to see him here. It would be disastrous because she ran away the other day and meeting him here might lead to torment. She couldn't forget the dangerous aura he emitted that day.

“Your room is ready ma'am, Room no 196, meet her. "She will show you to your room”, the receptionist said with a smile, bringing back Irene from her thoughts.

“Please come with me”

With that, she arrived at her room.

“If you need anything, please do let us know by communicating with us through the cellphone over there.” the room attendant said to Irene and left.

“Alright, I will”

She was still able to spend time by herself even without working for some years. She was not a reckless spender and Robert might think he left her penniless, but I guess people still have secrets of their own. With that, she arranged her luggage and prepared to take a shower.

In the shower, she let the water cascade down her smooth milky skin, allowing it to wash away the troubles of the day. This week had been a hectic one for her, and she finally got to relax properly. She closed her eyes, letting the stress of the day wash away. Just then her door creaked open. Her eyes snapped open with a frozen expression, her heart racing. She wrapped her towel around herself cautiously.

“Who's there?” she called out. Coming out of the bathroom she saw a tall figure , well-built and muscular, in her room.

Irene:“....”You?
