“My help? With what?” Claire questions, taking a seat on the couch.

“Remember how I said your father was in town?” I say tentatively, not sure if I should speak or not.

“Yeah, and…?”

“I don't know if you are aware of this but he came to New York to change my mind on a case,” I admit, observing her face.

“A case? What case?”

“It's something a couple of people put together and if I choose to loan my voice, it could turn into something serious,” I tell her as much as I can without dropping a lot of details.

“Okay, is there a reason why you're being deliberately vague? You can tell me what it is, I won't tell anyone.” Claire leans in, catching on to what I left out.

“I can't really tell you, it's not my place.”

She rolled her eyes. “Fine, so what does your involvement in this case have to do with my father and you needing my help?”
