"The internet said that hornet wine has some pretty miraculous benefits. I'm doing this for your future happiness in bed!"

Erica Loft's exaggerated expression suggested that she wanted credit for the thoughtful gift.

"Look, I've even brought you the hornet's nest.

"You can make more for yourself if there isn't enough wine. Hahaha!"

Erica's laugh was so shrill. It made my stinging pain feel like a bad joke.

"That's enough, you crazy woman!"

Joe Fulham cursed at the situation silently. He dragged Erica into a room without giving me a second glance, and they argued inside once again.

I was tired of listening to them argue, but they seemed to be enjoying it.

Ten minutes later, Joe dragged Erica out to apologize to me. Her eyes were red.

"This is my fault, Simone. I shouldn't have told this crazy woman our new address. Please don't be mad. I've given her a good talking to.

"Apologize right now! Look at what you've done!"

Joe glared at Erica, and his grip on her arm tightened. Erica's eyes turned even redder, on the verge of tears.

"That's not necessary."

My reply stunned both of them.

Joe felt relieved, but I spoke up again, coldly. I was holding back the intense pain in my arm.

"But you need to clear out every hornet in this house.

"Don't you dare leave until all of them are gone!"

I looked at Erica, and her face turned pale. There was hate in her eyes.

She was forced to put on gloves and clear out the hornets one by one, thanks to my demands.

Fortunately, the hornets had been steeped in alcohol before and were not as aggressive. It took her less than an hour to clear them all out.

While carrying the huge hornet's nest, Erica was unlucky enough to be stung. She screamed in pain.

Joe quickly rushed to her, and the worried look in his eyes looked real.

"Simone, Erica went to great lengths to do what you asked. Don't be mad anymore. Let me take her to the hospital."

Joe did not even care about how I felt as he held Erica and quickly left.

Once the door closed, I could no longer bear the pain in my arm. My hands trembled as I called my best friend, Charlotte Shore, who was a doctor.

"What the hell? How did you bear that pain for so long? You were stung so many times!

"Joe is such a jerk! How could he leave you behind like that?"

Charlotte gave me an emergency bandage as she complained about them.

"You can't ignore the wounds. They're starting to get inflamed. We need to get you to the hospital."

My heart sank when we arrived at the hospital entrance. I saw Joe's car parked nearby.

After I was given a drip, I bumped into Joe while my swollen arm was raised.

He was taken aback when he saw the wounds on my arm. He started to get worried.

"Why didn't you say anything when you got stung so many times, Simone? Is it serious?"

Joe wanted to check my arm when his phone rang in his pocket.

The man who had been so concerned about my well-being suddenly flew into a rage.

"Just stay in the hospital! Why must you insist that I stay by your side? Stop acting so pitiful!"

Erica's sobbing could be heard over the phone. I knew Joe would give in again.

Just as I expected, Joe hung up and turned to me.

"Wait for me at home, Simone. I'll be back tonight."

"Let's break up, Joe. I'm tired of this."

Back at the hospital, the doctor was examining my mother's condition. I had to ask him about it."Doctor, is there really nothing you can do?"Please try anything to help my mom wake up!"The doctor scribbled on his board and sighed helplessly."When you found the patient, she had been lacking oxygen for too long, which caused her brain to be partially damaged. It all depends on her luck if she's able to wake up…"After the doctor left, my knees went weak, and I fell heavily onto a nearby chair. I deeply regretted not putting a stop to everything earlier.Another month passed. Just when I was losing all hope that my mother would wake up, I suddenly noticed her finger move.I was elated and quickly called the doctor over. Fortunately, that signaled the start of her improvement. The Fulhams visited my mother several times during this period. From my conversations with them, I found out Joe was involved in a serious accident that left his calf permanently wounded. He would never

A few days later, my expression turned dark when unwelcomed guests came knocking on my door.Joe's parents had forcefully dragged Joe to my house. They made him kneel in front of me. His face was flushed. His father was an old friend of my father, which was why he did not want things to get ugly."Simone, I know that Joe was the one at fault for what happened at the wedding, and nothing we say can make up for it. He has to pay for what he did to you."Joe was forced to kneel. There were dark rings under his eyes, and he looked sad and pathetic."Admit your mistakes. You owe that to Simone!"Joe's father whipped him with a belt. The heavy sound of the whip rang in everyone's ears.Blood started to drench Joe's shirt. His mother got anxious, sobbing as she begged me to forgive him."Simone, you're a good girl, and we hope that both of you can talk it out. Joe only loves you. He just made a mistake because he wasn't thinking straight."Please give him another chance, Simone."I

Joe looked upset as he stared right at me.I thought he was about to defend Erica when he suddenly sighed and lowered his voice."It is what it is, and I respect your decision. But my parents would like to see you to talk things through."If it's possible, I hope we can go through with our wedding…""That's not necessary. I'll see you at the jewelry showcase launch event."Joe was stunned as he looked at me in disbelief. He did not understand me.It took two willing individuals for the affair to occur. Both of them deserved retribution.I admired the broken look on Joe's face before I left, satisfied. The event arrived very soon. I could not help but be impressed by the grandeur of the venue.Since the day I met Joe, I knew how obsessive he was with jewelry work. Erica was charged with the intention to harm others by the police because of the strong evidence and injury assessment report I provided. She cried as she called Joe to plead with him to save her."I didn't expect that old woman to be so useless. It took only a few photos to break her. I just couldn't bear the thought of you leaving me, so I just wanted somewhere to vent…"Joe, I'm only twenty-six. I don't want to go to prison. I'm still young. Please save me!"I promise I won't do anything stupid ever again!"Joe had a bunch of unsolved problems, and he had to deal with the jewelry showcase in a few days. He was buried in work, and he could not help taking out his anger on Erica."I told you it was the last time I would indulge you! There's no longer anything between us now."You just had to do something like this, didn't you? Simone's mom raised her as a single mom. Her mother is the most important person in the world to her. Look at the predicament you've put me in!"She wan

"Is Erica Loft here?"The police began investigating the case immediately after I filed a police report. They eventually determined that the suspect was at the wedding venue."We received a police report involving Ms. Loft in a case of intentional harm. We need her to assist with the investigation."Joe was shocked by this and quickly asked about the situation."Intentional harm? Who did she harm?"The police did not explain anything. They searched the wedding venue right away and caught Erica, who was about to sneak off.Everyone turned to look at Erica. No one expected her to be silently hiding among the guests."Let go of me! I did nothing. Why are you arresting me?"Erica struggled to escape. She had been shocked by the recording and was still reeling from it.She did not expect me to do something so drastic at such a crucial moment when I had been tolerating her for years.Erica tried her best to grab Joe's hand as he was her last hope. She cried as she begged for his he

There was no time for me to change. I jumped into my car and sped crazily, running through at least three red lights.I did not care. If my mother did not get help during her asthma attack, she would die.Despite hurrying toward her, I was still too late.My mother was foaming at the mouth, lying on the ground motionless with her eyes rolled upward.I quickly called an ambulance to take her to the hospital. As I was trembling, I called Erica. Her voice sounded sickly sweet, like she had just had a great time in bed. She admitted to everything."That's right. I was the one who sent the photos and recording to your mother. That should teach you a lesson for trying to steal my man!""Erica, I won't let you get away with it if anything happens to my mother!"She laughed, not taking my threat seriously. She replied to me sarcastically, "Here's to wishing you a blessed wedding in advance, Simone."Why was she trying to make me so angry?Fine. I would not give in any longer.I tri
