Chapter 2

Author: Cocojam
"What did you say?" Declan's eyes widened, his face draining of color.

He couldn't believe I would rip off his mask so bluntly in front of everyone.

"Sloane, don't blame Declan. He just couldn't bear to watch me die."

Chloe stumbled forward, weakly grabbing onto my jacket. "It's all my fault, I dragged him down. You can't break the engagement. If you don't want him anymore, I might as well just die..."

She was fresh out of surgery, pale as a ghost. She swayed on her feet, playing the fragile victim perfectly.

Declan immediately rushed over and pulled Chloe into his arms.

He looked up at me with disappointment and the pain of a betrayed lover.

"When did you become so cold-blooded, Sloane?" he gritted out. He tried to use his Alpha command to force me into submission, but it was weak. Pathetic. "Chloe just had surgery. Do you really have to provoke her right now?"

I watched him protect another woman with total calmness.

My wolf didn't whimper in pain like she did in my past life.

"Since you care about her so much, perfect," I took another step back. "Engagement's off. You can take care of her full-time now."

Declan froze.

He was absolutely convinced I was just throwing a jealous tantrum over the marrow donation.

He stood up straighter, looking at me like he was doing me a favor. "Stop making a scene, Sloane. Even if my body is weak right now, I'm still the heir. I know you love me, you're just mad. Apologize right now, and I'll still give you the Luna title. We mate tonight."

Apologize right now?

He sounded like I should be grateful he was blessing me with his broken love.

I brushed his hand away.

"I'm not making a scene, Declan. And I'm not joking."

"Not only am I refusing to mate with you, I'm officially breaking our engagement."

"Why would I pass up a pack of healthy Alphas for a broken wolf?"

Declan flushed red. A flash of humiliated rage crossed his eyes.

He never expected me to say something so ruthless in front of the whole pack.

"Sloane! Don't be ungrateful. Everyone knows about our arrangement, you're already mine. You're just talking out of anger, don't come crying to me later! I'll give you one day to cool off. If you keep pushing this, I really will break the engagement!"

With that, he grabbed the weak Chloe and stormed off without looking back.

It was always like this.

Whenever we fought, he would leave me alone, using the silent treatment to force me to cave.

I drove my Jeep alone toward our shared manor in the neutral zone.

We bought it together two years ago when the arrangement was made.

Halfway there, a storm broke out.

By the time I pushed open the manor doors, I was soaked to the bone.

Cold rain dripped from my hair, but I had never felt so free.

But the moment I walked into the living room, I stopped.

The strong smell of bitter herbs hit my nose.

In the kitchen, Declan had his expensive sleeves rolled up, carefully watching the stove.

This was the same man who made the maids pour his water for two years.

Now, he was brewing a herbal remedy for Chloe.

In my past life, I came home with a high fever from fighting at the borders.

He just asked if I was okay, told the maids to watch me, and left.

Now, he was playing personal chef for his little sweetheart.

Hearing me, he looked back.

A brief flash of instinctual concern crossed his eyes, but it was quickly covered by blame. He frowned.

"Why are you such a mess?"

I ignored him and walked straight toward the master bedroom on the first floor.

I needed to change out of my wet clothes, pack my bags, and leave this disgusting place.

But right as my hand touched the doorknob, Declan rushed over and grabbed my wrist.

"Chloe is sleeping in there. Don't go in."

I looked at him, finding it absolutely ridiculous.

"This is my bedroom. How am I supposed to change if I don't go in?"

He glanced at my soaked jacket and casually pointed at the living room fireplace.

"Just go dry off by the fire. You just caught some rain, your wolf is strong, you won't even get a cold. Chloe just had surgery!"

  • My Broken Alpha’s Worthless Proposal   Chapter 11

"Our years together?" I looked calmly at Declan kneeling on the ground. There wasn't a single ripple in my voice. The high-ranking generals around me exchanged glances. They obviously didn't expect this kind of drama here.I ignored their stares and looked straight at Declan’s twisted, desperate face."Declan, stop hyping yourself up with that 'I couldn't watch Chloe die' bullshit."I crouched down to his eye level."Did you not check her family's wealth records on Pack-Net? Her mother alone owns three high-grade crystal mines. With their money, they could have easily waited for a matched marrow donor."Declan froze. A flash of blank confusion crossed his eyes."You just wanted to feed your savior complex. You craved her worship. And she? She played your fragile Alpha ego perfectly. She drained your Alpha marrow without lifting a single finger."I stood up, looking down at him from above."From start to finish, you only cared about yourself. You never once thought about your responsibi

Declan stared blankly at Chloe’s mother. When he first said he would donate his Alpha marrow to Chloe, her mother had practically fallen to her knees to worship him.She called him Chloe’s savior, the savior of their whole family. And now, his mom just wanted Chloe to become his mate. And Chloe’s mother was saying no?!She blatantly mocked him for missing his Alpha marrow and being weaker than a normal Alpha. How was this any different from what Sloane did?Declan looked at Chloe, who was cowering behind her mom."Chloe, is this what you think too?"Chloe avoided his eyes. She kept her head down, but a cold, calculating gleam flashed in her eyes."Declan, I've always just seen you as a brother. I never said I liked you. You wanted to play hero and give me your marrow. You took care of me willingly. I never forced you.""Let's just forget everything that happened in the past!""My mom is right. Your Alpha marrow is almost completely drained. You can't fight, you can't do heavy work. If

Netizens quickly dug up more dirt.Someone posted photos of Declan gifting Chloe rare crystals from my territory's mines for her birthday.Others exposed transaction logs showing him secretly draining our joint funds to buy her expensive supplements.[This scumbag doesn't just want a sugar mama, he's embezzling his fiancee's money for the side chick!][Disgusting! Thank the Moon Goddess Commander Sloane woke up in time!]Seeing these comments, Declan was blind with rage.Ignoring the hospital staff trying to stop him, he ran out in his hospital gown.He sprinted all the way to the mining headquarters and started screaming at the front gate."Sloane! Get out here!""You toxic bitch! You're spreading rumors online to ruin us! Are you trying to drive us to our deaths?"His voice was harsh and raspy, drawing stares from passing warriors.I had just finished work and walked out the gate. Seeing this deranged man, I let out a tired sigh."Declan, what are you talking about?""Stop acting!" H

Early the next morning, Declan was dragged into the pack hospital by the emergency team for severe alcohol poisoning. The doctor looked at his pale face and weak pulse, scolding him harshly. "Your body is already completely wrecked from the loss of your Alpha marrow, and now you're binge drinking? Do you have a death wish?"Declan was put on forced detox with a dedicated nurse.Meanwhile, Chloe was left alone in the freezing manor.Without top-tier supplements or Frost Herb, her blood disease flared up again.Severe bone pain kept her awake all night. She was so used to exploiting Declan’s pity to get whatever she wanted. Now that Declan was down, she absolutely couldn't afford to lose her free blood-bag, nor could she stand to see me living a good life. With trembling hands, she picked up her phone and dialed my number."Sloane, I'm begging you. For the sake of all our years together, can't you help me?"Chloe’s voice was so weak she sounded like she was dying."I'm in so much pain. I

"He's sterile and wants a sugar mama?""This kind of Alpha has the nerve to propose?""Sloane of the Silver Moon is a pureblood warrior. Why would she want trash like him?"The whispers from the crowd pierced Declan’s ears like needles. His face burned red, as if he had been stripped naked in public."Enough!" Declan roared at me, his eyes bloodshot. "Sloane, how can you be so cold-blooded? I became like this to save Chloe, and now you despise me for being sick?"His voice was full of anger and grievance, acting like I was the wicked, ungrateful one."You weren't like this before! You used to be so kind, so in love with me! Why are you so materialistic now?"I raised an eyebrow and smiled lightly."Materialistic?"I nodded, owning it completely."You're right. I am materialistic. I won't pay the bills for a useless Alpha."Declan’s eyes went wide. He couldn't believe I admitted it so bluntly."You... you really changed! The old Sloane would never say that!""The old me was stupid." I s

The heat in the hotel suite was perfect. I was staring at my laptop, checking the mine maps of the Far North.I hadn't replied to any of Declan’s messages for three days. It was the most peaceful time of my life.Until my phone rang wildly. It was an unknown number."Sloane! Why did you block me?"Declan’s impatient voice came through the speaker. He sounded panicked."The power is out at the manor! When did you cut off the pack funds? Come back and fix this right now!"I replied coldly, "I already told you. The engagement is over.""Stop messing around!" His tone held a hint of begging, but it was mostly an order. "I know you're mad, but drop this childish game. Chloe needs a warm room. She can't take the cold."I hung up on him. That afternoon, I left the mining headquarters on time.As soon as I walked out, I saw a familiar figure leaning against the stone pillar by the gate.Declan was holding a bouquet of rare snow lotuses.
