SIDE STORY * * Torren bursts out of the tent, his enraged roar splitting through the air. Just a few distances away, the lifeless body of the Alpha lies sprawled in the dirt, his lips blackened, his eyes frozen wide in a silent scream. Poison. Panic ripples through the village as Warriors rush between huts, shouting and grabbing weapons, as they search for one person, but Torren already knows it. The male's face is pale as Torren shoves him hard. “How did he escape?” His voice cracks like a whip. “They fooled us! You were supposed to watch him!” The warrior stumbles backwards, his hands raised in surrender “H-he cut himself deep. I thought he was going to die, so he begged me to get bandages…” Torren’s snarl is low and cruel. His hand flashes out. “You couldn’t see through such a pathetic trick?” His fingers lock around the warrior’s throat.
