Book 3 - Ch. 183: Ella's Favorite Things

JACE POV

“Hey, talk to me, beautiful.” I say as we sit down on a nearby bench.

I’m taking Ella out for the day while Jude works on stuff for the club. We all have been working hard, and with the holidays coming up, we are scrambling to get everything done before heading back home. Ella’s been quiet all morning, so I thought some time in a different setting will cheer her up.

“What do you want me to talk about?” Ella playing dumb with me never works out because she is far from it, and we all know it.

I give her my look that says, ‘Don’t test me and start talking’ and she sighs, “What are we going to tell our parents?” she glances over at me, “Or should I say my dad. He’s the one I worry about the most.”

Ah, I get it, she’s been struggling with this for weeks; how to tell Ethan about our new dynamic with Jude. I chuckle to myself because knowing Ethan, he may just accept it because Jude scares him, but I keep that thought to myself.
