Chapter 17

The Blood King's Claim

The temple fell into complete silence.

Only the echo of the stranger's footsteps broke the stillness as he walked toward Ariana.

His crimson eyes never left her face.

Ariana instinctively stepped back, clutching Kael's arm.

Kael moved in front of her, his sword raised.

"You'll take another step over my dead body."

The stranger chuckled, his voice calm and dangerous.

"You must be the new Alpha."

His gaze swept over Kael with open amusement.

"So young... and already willing to die."

"I don't fear you," Kael growled.

"No?"

The Blood King smiled.

"Then perhaps you should."

Before anyone could react, he vanished.

A violent gust of wind exploded through the chamber.

Kael barely had time to raise his sword before another blade crashed into it.

CLANG!

The impact sent Kael flying across the temple floor.

He slammed into a stone pillar, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.

The warriors rushed forward.

"Protect the Luna!"

They attacked together.

But the Blood King moved like a shadow.

One warrior was disarmed.

Another was thrown against the wall.

Within seconds, every fighter lay defeated.

Not one of them had managed to land a single blow.

He hadn't even drawn his full strength.

Ariana's heart pounded.

Who... was this monster?

The Blood King finally stopped a few feet away from her.

His cold expression softened.

"You've grown beautiful."

Ariana stared at him in disbelief.

"I don't know you."

A flicker of sadness crossed his face.

"Of course you don't."

"When you died... your memories died with you."

Kael forced himself to his feet despite the pain.

"Stay away from her!"

The Blood King's eyes darkened.

"You have no right to command me."

"I've searched for her for five hundred years."

"I crossed kingdoms."

"I destroyed empires."

"I slaughtered every enemy that stood in my way."

"And now..."

He looked at Ariana.

"...I've found my queen again."

The words struck Ariana like lightning.

"My... what?"

Kael roared and charged.

This time his wolf aura burst from his body.

Silver energy surrounded him as he swung his sword with all his strength.

The Blood King blocked it with one hand.

The blade stopped as though it had struck a mountain.

"What incredible potential," he said quietly.

"If you had another hundred years... you might have entertained me."

With a flick of his wrist, Kael was thrown across the chamber once more.

His sword shattered into dozens of pieces.

"Kael!" Ariana cried.

Without thinking, she ran to him.

As she knelt beside him, tears filled her eyes.

"Please... don't die."

Kael weakly smiled.

"As long as I breathe... no one will take you."

Those words awakened something deep inside Ariana.

Her wolf mark blazed with brilliant silver light.

The Moon Crown floating above the crystal throne descended on its own.

It settled gently upon Ariana's head.

A blinding wave of moonlight erupted from her body.

The entire temple shook violently.

Every stone wolf howled at once.

The Blood King's smile slowly disappeared.

"No..."

His voice held something it hadn't before.

Fear.

Ariana opened her eyes.

They now glowed with pure silver light.

A calm, ancient voice escaped her lips.

"I remember..."

Images flooded back into her mind.

The Blood King...

The Moon Kingdom...

The betrayal...

And the terrible truth.

She looked directly into the Blood King's eyes.

"You lied to me."

His expression froze.

For the first time in centuries...

The immortal king had no words.

Outside the temple, the blood-red moon suddenly split with a deafening crack, as if the heavens themselves had witnessed Ariana's awakening.

And somewhere in the darkness, an unseen enemy smiled.

"The game has finally begun."
