Chapter 3

Author: Hedgebud
I snorted in disbelief. “That’s truly bizarre. I didn’t believe you were dead back then, but the hospital showed me your death certificate and the medical university’s body donation receipt. I caused quite a scene at the hospital and even called the police.

“The police confirmed those documents were genuine.

“Lillian, they told me that you were sent to the medical university to become a cadaver for dissection teaching, yet here you are, completely intact. It’s such a miracle!

“There are only two ways to take this. Either the documents are forged, and even both the police and the hospital are in on it!

“The other possibility is that the documents are genuine, and this Lillian Reyes is an imposter!”

She froze. “You... What did you say? Called the police?”

I produced the evidence. “I had a major falling out with the hospital back then. I kept every single piece of evidence!”

I snapped my fingers, and the large screen instantly displayed those old documents.

Lillian was speechless. She was stunned that I had kept them for nearly twenty years.

Having lived this experience twice over, how could I let her lead me by the nose?

With irrefutable proof, everyone was dumbfounded.

“How could such a thing happen?”

“Was it a resurrection? That’s a medical miracle!”

“No, what medical miracle? This is outright fraud! If she’s real, then they actually forged death certificates! Who knows how many people were forced to die? This is an unscrupulous hospital!”

“If the documents are fake, that means she faked her own death. She had someone else raise the child while she lived it up, only to come back later to reap the rewards. How shameless!”

Lillian immediately began protesting. “That’s not what happened!”

“I-I was unconscious back then. I truly had no vital signs!”

I called her out again. “You died giving birth at a top-tier hospital? I only saw a midwife. I never saw a single doctor.

“The midwife had her hands full with me. She didn’t even try to verify your death. She even issued a death certificate. After all of that, you came back to life at the medical university?

“Setting aside doubts about your identity, even if you are Lillian, don’t you find this absurd?

“Didn’t the medical university say anything? Shouldn’t the hospital have contacted me? Didn’t they notify the police?

“Didn’t you ever think to ask about your son at the time?

“Stop spinning lies! Today, no matter whether you or the hospital is lying, I won’t give you my son!”

Lillian’s face flushed crimson and turned pale as I went on and on. She was dumbfounded and rushed forward.

“Is the money not enough for you? My son is exceptional! It’s because his father and I have good genes. You only need to feed him!

“Besides, proof aside, do you really not recognize me?

“If you don’t trust me, can’t you trust Linden?”

Linden chimed in from the side. “Shea, I know you’re reluctant to give him up, but for the child’s future, you can’t deny Neil’s right to acknowledge her!

“Lillian is the Reyes family’s heiress. The Reyes family from the provincial capital. Her father is Creston Reyes, and he’s worth billions! If Neil returns, he’ll be Creston’s grandson. The sky is the limit where his future is concerned!”

Lillian nodded repeatedly. “Yes, I know you’re angry, but after so many years apart, I’ve always missed him!

“Today, I finally gathered the courage to come. Rest assured, I won’t erase what you have done.”

I spread my hands helplessly. “Lillian, I’ve told you. Setting all that aside, he truly isn’t your son!”

“How could that be! You only have this one child. If he’s not my son, then whose could he be?!”

“He’s my son. He’s my own flesh and blood. He’s born to me, Shea Wilde!”

“I’ve never heard of the Reyes family having a daughter like her! At the Reyes Corporation’s annual meeting, there was a photo of the eldest daughter. She looked nothing like her!”“She might even be an illegitimate child herself. Let’s see what the police say when they arrive!”“That hospital is definitely shady!”Netizens were already in an uproar. Lillian finally realized just how dire her situation was. She pulled out her phone to glance at it. Her face instantly turned pale. She showed no concern for Ben standing before her, leaving him helpless and at a loss.He glanced back at me. I patted his shoulder. “It’s okay. You’re an adult now. Whether she acknowledges you or not, you must live your life well!”William extended his slender fingers and took the paternity test report. “Whether she acknowledges it or not, your blood relationship cannot be denied.“This paternity test is the definitive proof.”Lillian was overcome with panic and shook her head. “Impossible! I shrugged helplessly. “Because your identity isn’t confirmed either! Who knows if you’re really Lilian Reyes?”I had my assistant bring all my evidence along. It had been kept perfectly intact all these years.Officer Myers was the police officer who had turned up at the hospital back then. He was the one who had suggested I send the child to the orphanage.“Lillian died back then. I took her death certificate to the police station and had her ID card revoked. Who can prove you’re the Lillian Reyes from back then?”Hearing this, she pointed at me, trembling all over. “You... How dare you!”“Why wouldn’t I dare? You’re an orphan! Your mother died young, and back then, my family and the neighbors were the ones who supported you. After you died, it naturally fell to me to handle your affairs!“How could you have been unaware of this? If you really were the Lillian from back then, then all these years since you came back to life, whose identity have you been using?”My question hit

“Yes, I sent him to the orphanage back then. All these years, I’ve kept watching over him. He should be graduating from vocational school this year. Of course, he can’t compare to our Neil. His aptitude just isn’t up to par.”My words cut deep. It shattered her composure instantly.“Shea, you wretch! You left my son in an orphanage!”“What choice did I have? I was just a student back then. How was I supposed to get married with a baby in my arms?”In my past life, I had listened to her and took the child home. But my neighbors gossiped relentlessly, and my parents disowned me.They insisted I had the child through loose morals and was abandoned by the father. No matter how I explained myself, no one believed me. Neil could not hold back any longer and pulled out his ID to show it to her.“Take a good look, madam. I’m sixteen years old.“Most people go to college following the usual path, but my mom says I’m smart. I skipped two grades in elementary school and was the youngest in my class.“There’s no way I could be your son, unless you somehow came back from the dead two years after dying to get pregnant and give birth!”The crowd burst into laughter. Neil’s elementary school teacher stepped forward.“That’s right! Back then, Neil was the youngest in the class!“His classmates always looked out for him. I’ve watched him grow up all these years. There’s no way I could be mistaken!“Neil is definitely Ms. Wilde’s child. He used to run around the organization all the time and even attended our lectures!”Lillian stared blankly at the ID card. Meeting my smile, her defenses crumbled instantly. “Impossible! Shea, you lied to me!“Did you swap babies? Tell me!”Linden chimed in from the si

Lillian froze. Her expression darkened before she forced a smile. “Shea, don’t joke with me. You said it yourself, you don’t believe in getting married.“Besides, you have a son. Who would dare marry you? Stop messing around and give me back the child right now!”She turned to Neil. “Neil, you are the valedictorian. Mommy will take you back to the capital. When you meet your grandfather, he’ll surely hold you in high regard. Then, the two of us, mother and son, will have endless wealth and prestige from the Reyes family!”Neil took a step back and shot her a withering look. “Madam, if you’ve got a screw loose, go get it fixed.“My father is a renowned entrepreneur, and my mother heads a prestigious educational institution. While we may not match the capital’s Reyes family, we’re certainly well-off.“As a valedictorian, my future is already bright. What use do I have for your wealth and prestige? Besides, I’m not even your son!”Lillian’s anger flared. “Shea, what kind of love pot
