Daniela's POV

“Good heavens! Mrs Jackson are you alright?”

Nina’s voice all but startled me out of my sleep. If not for the fact that I was still very sleepy and groggy, I would’ve had a heart attack. For sure. I turned my body in the direction of the voice. “Mm?”

“Oh thank goodness, Mrs Jackson,” I heard her breath out in relief. Why did she keep calling me Mrs Jackson? “What happened, Mrs Jackson. How did yo

  • My Dear Nightmare    Chapter Thirty-Five

Daniela’s POVThat made me stop to look at him fully. He was at least ten years older than me, if I wasn’t exaggerating, blonde and quite attractive, but I was never one to make friends out of these kinds of interactions, much less anything more than that. This wasn’t even because I was married. “Excuse me?”“You’re very beautiful you know. I love your hair.”“Uh- thank you…” I kept on the fake smile and increased my pace, but this dude stayed right by my side. I kept my eyes in front of me. Ten seconds, just ten, then I wouldn’t have to ever see him in my life again.Wrong.This guy quickened his steps and literally blocked me with his cart. “So… do I get the name with the number too?”“I’m sorry, but I’m in a bit of a hurry here.”He chuckled, and that sent an unsettling feeling down my back. “Yeah, I kn

  • My Dear Nightmare    Chapter Thirty-Four

Daniela’s POVI was sure I was going to wake up before Kathy did, because one: I didn’t sleep long in new environments. And two: a nightmare would definitely wake me up hours before I would like to be up. But that didn’t happen. When I opened my eyes, the room was very bright. Either Kathy’s bedroom curtains were very light or I had slept hours deep into the day. The latter didn’t feel real. Another thing, Kathy wasn’t on the bed.I had thought it would be weird, the sleeping arrangements, since Kathy’s place was a one-bedroom apartment. But evidently, I was more comfortable than I had thought, if I had managed to sleep this long, with no nightmare in memory. The sound of the door opening made me turn my head. Kathy walked in with a huge smile on her face. She looked like she had been up for a while. She was even in different clothes. “Well looks like someone finally decided to come back to earth.”

  • My Dear Nightmare    Chapter Thirty-Three

Daniela’s POVI stared at the mouthwatering doughnuts that Kathy had bought. She had ordered milkshakes to go along with them too, only because I was in a bad mood. Her words, not mine. Like she had also argued, I knew I had had enough dairy products for a day, but who cared, I was indeed not in the best of places emotionally.I wasn’t bothered though, about Alexander seeing me in my weak moment, again. Neither was I angry at him for the things he said. It hurt to hear them being thrown at me like that, but they weren’t lies.He didn’t owe me anything. The fact that he was keeping me by his side against my will, didn’t mean he had to solve my problems for me. And I had been downright stupid to think asking him to renovate my aunt’s restaurant was a good idea. Apart from the fact that it was blatantly shameless of me, it could give him more leverage over me that would surely cause bigger problems in the future.

  • My Dear Nightmare    Chapter Thirty-Two

Alexander’s POVA panic attack. This wasn’t the first time I had witnessed her have one. It didn’t make it any less frightening. So much so that I called my doctor for advice. I wouldn’t have been as triggered if this was just a replica of what happened the day I had her move from her house. I had just gotten to the steps when she started screaming manically. I could swear she could’ve destroyed the foundations of this entire mansion with her sound waves alone. And then she just collapsed. Any other sane person would’ve called the doctor too, if not an ambulance.“Is she going to be alright?” Nina’s eyes were wide in concern as she asked me the same question for the third time. I looked at Jenny who was standing at the door, also waiting for confirmation from me.I sighed. I couldn’t blame them. It was quite scary, what happened with Daniela. And Nina once worked for a family whose son d

  • My Dear Nightmare    Chapter Thirty-One

Daniela’s POVCole kept his word and got me two big boxes filled with kid’s vanilla milk. They sat next to me in the backseat of the car, beside the takeaway of the two other milkshakes I couldn’t finish due to my loss of appetite after Charlene’s visit. I just had to figure out how to sneak it into the house without Nina noticing and thus getting Mike into trouble.“I can keep them in the back, and bring it up to your room, when Nina and Jenny start making lunch. Then there’ll be no chance of them finding out.”I smiled, impressed. Again, he read my mind. “I think we could actually become friends.”He chuckled. “But you’d have to figure out the milkshakes yourself. Those need to be refrigerated.”“Don’t worry. Leave that to me.”I never thought I could sigh in relief at seeing the mansion come into view, but after the day I had had, I could ex

  • My Dear Nightmare    Chapter Thirty

Daniela's POVThe woman that stood in front of me this time was different. She didn’t look remorseful anymore, much less, like someone who yearned for my forgiveness. Charlene was angry- for some reason- and her next words showed why. “I think I deserve an explanation.”I looked around at the other waiters that had begun moving around, doing their work in the bar. I sighed and dropped my stuff. There was no need to make a scene, and I should’ve seen this coming. I got out of the bar and headed to a booth in the corner. Hopefully, she’d be wise enough to follow me.She sat opposite me, putting her clasped hands on the table, as if to assert some dominance. Truthfully, I felt uncomfortable. Everything was still fresh in my mind, and I still hadn’t fully dealt with the emotions her betrayal had left me with.“I don’t think I owe you anything, Charlene,” I said matter-of-factly. “But tell me

  • My Dear Nightmare    Chapter Twenty-Four

Daniela's POVI did call him. Sue me. But he didn’t answer. After that I left my phone in my room and sequestered myself in the family room, lest I did something as stupid as double calling my cheating ex. Correction: cheating and lying ex. Because he had to be lyin

  • My Dear Nightmare    Chapter Seven

Daniela's POVBy the time I was back in the car and enroute to Jackson tower, Alexander’s building, I felt like an entirely different person. No, not in a good way. I didn’t feel like my own person anymore, and it wasn’t entirely an exaggeration. Alexander had to
