"That was it, Fab. Blake never listened to me. He wouldn’t pick up my calls or reply to my messages. I was devastated. I honestly thought I was going to die because I loved him so much.

A few days later, I was in the lecture hall when my phone suddenly buzzed. I checked it message from Blake. I was so happy. I opened it, and to my surprise...!

‘Hey Carmen, I can’t even look at you anymore not after the other day. I’m sorry, but I can’t continue whatever it is we had.’

‘I’m done. Don’t bother replying or calling again, because I won’t listen to anything you have to say. Let’s just act like we never met. Bye, Carmen.’

Tears rolled down my cheeks before I even realized I was crying. I wiped my face in one swift motion and rushed to the restroom. And to my surprise, I saw Nora.

‘Hey friend,’ Nora greeted, smiling wickedly.

‘You shameless bitch!’ I spat, unable to control myself anymore.

‘Don’t you dare call me your friend because I’m not,’ I snapped.

‘Nora, you’re unbelievable. How could you drug me just so someone could take advantage of me on my birthday? How could you?!’

‘I curse the day I ever called you my friend.’

‘Oh spare me,’ she scoffed. ‘All I ever wanted was Blake but he never looked at me the way he looks at you. How do you expect me to feel, Carmen?’

I was already crying.

‘Oh, poor Carmen,’ she mocked, cupping my chin. ‘Sorry if I hurt your feelings or that your prince charming dumped you.’ She smirked and walked out, leaving me standing there in the restroom.

I rinsed my face and went straight home. I tried calling Jason Blake’s best friend but the call wouldn’t go through. I eventually stopped trying. It took me a while to heal from all that pain. And now, just when I’m finally okay, he shows up again.

‘I’m so sorry all those horrible things happened to you, Carmen,’ Fab said, leaning forward and pulling me into a hug. ‘But everything is going to be okay. And the fact that he’s back now shouldn’t bother you. It’s all in the past, right?’

‘Let’s get going. We’ve been here for an hour,’ I said, getting up.

‘Yeah,’ Fab nodded.

We both left the restaurant and headed to the parking lot where Fab’s car was parked.

Boom!

Blake was standing right in front of us, sending shivers down my spine.

‘Hey, Peach,’ Blake greeted with a big smile. ‘It’s been a while.’

‘Umm… umm…’ I stammered, unsure how to react.

‘Hey, Blake.’ That’s all I managed to say.

He turned to Fab. ‘Hey there,’ he said, extending his well-manicured hand for a shake.

‘Hey, I’m Fab,’ she replied with a smile.

‘Fab as in Fabiola?’ he asked.

‘Yeah,’ she nodded.

‘Wow, nice name you’ve got,’ he said.

‘I’m Blake,’ he added, sweetly.

Then he turned back to me. ‘You look really beautiful. I mean, you’ve always been beautiful,’ he said, running a hand through his hair.

‘Oh please,’ I said, waving my hand to signal him to stop.

‘So, what are you doing here?’ I asked.

‘Ah… I was meeting a client here,’ he replied.

‘You?’ he asked.

‘Fab and I just came to grab breakfast,’ I said.

‘Do you live around here?’

‘Umm… actually, no. I live at 5th Estate… at the back.’ Wait....what? I just gave him my address. I facepalmed internally.

‘Nice,’ he said. ‘I’d love to see you again sometime.’

‘I doubt that,’ I replied honestly.

‘Why?’ he asked. ‘I know we didn’t end things well. I’m really sorry, Carmen. I should’ve trusted you.’

‘But you didn’t,’ I said, glaring at him. ‘So I see no reason to meet you again.’

I started walking toward Fab’s car, but Blake stepped in front of me.

‘Please, Carmen,’ he said, eyes pleading. ‘Can I have your number, please?’

‘No, you can’t,’ I replied, already tired of the conversation.

‘Please, Carmen.’

Fab was already giving me death glares.

‘Alright, fine.’ I gave him my card.

‘Thanks, Carmen. I’d love to see you soon.’

‘No, you won’t,’ I muttered. He can’t just stroll back into my life like nothing happened.

‘You’re still stubborn, you know,’ he said, smiling.

‘Whatever.’ I waved. ‘Bye, Blake.’

‘Bye…’ he waved back.

‘What was with the death glare earlier?’ I asked Fab as we got in the car.

‘Well, I was telling you to just give him the damn number,’ she laughed.

‘Seriously, Fab? After everything I told you?’

‘Maybe he just wants to apologize after all that. You never know.’

‘Oh, spare me that BS.’

‘You never can tell, you know,’ she teased.

‘Never say never,’ she smirked.

‘Whatever, babe,’ I said, giving her a look.

‘Remind me again why you’re my best friend?’

We both laughed and hopped into the car. Fab dropped me off at my apartment and left.

I dashed into the living room and went straight to my room. I changed into a blue floral gown and lay on my bed, still thinking about everything that had happened. I couldn’t believe Blake was there.

Suddenly, my phone buzzed. I unlocked it. Unknown number.

‘Hey, Peach,’ the message read.

Just hearing “Peach,” I knew it was Blake.

‘Uhmm… who is this?’ I asked, pretending not to know.

‘C’mon, Carmen,’ he chuckled. ‘Did you get home safe?’

‘Yeah,’ I replied.

‘Carmen, do you mind having lunch with me tomorrow?’ he asked.

‘I’m sorry, I can’t,’ I lied.

‘I saw that coming,’ he said. ‘But Carmen, please. I really want to apologize. I regret everything.’

‘Alright, fine,’ I said, just to end the conversation.

‘Thanks, Peach,’ he said sweetly.

‘Oh, please. Don’t call me that.’

‘That’s your name and I’m calling you that.’

‘You pick the location,’ he said.

‘Umm… anywhere’s fine by me.’

‘Highlands Bar & Grill?’ he offered.

‘Sure. See you tomorrow,’ I said, and hung up.

I texted Fab about the lunch. She replied almost instantly, like she’d been waiting for it.

‘Oh, that sounds great!’ she said.

‘Uhmm… I don’t know. I don’t think I’ll be comfortable around him,’ I texted.

‘Come on, babe. It’s just lunch you’re not spending the whole day with him,’ she teased.

‘I’ve got work to do. Bye, girlfriend. For now.’

‘Alright then.’

I woke up to Blake smiling at me. The memories of last night rushed back like a wave, and I quickly pulled the blanket over my face, utterly embarrassed.“Morning, Peach,” he said softly, placing a light kiss on my forehead.“Morning,” I mumbled, peeking out. “How was your night?” I honestly didn’t know how that slipped out of my mouth. He chuckled. “Best night ever.”I glanced at him and noticed he was already dressed. “You’re dressed already? Going somewhere?”“I have a meeting to attend, but I’ll be back soon,” he said, adjusting his cuffs.“Umm... your breakfast will be here soon. Just get dressed and wait for me,” he added with a smile before grabbing his watch.I nodded and got out of bed, heading to close the curtains.I wanted to wear something nice. His other hand moved up to rest on my waist, and I could feel the ache within me intensify. I didn’t know how much longer I could hold back the hunger burning through me.“I want you so bad, Carmen,” he whispered, his voice low and sensual like silk wrapped in heat. His words ignited something deep inside me. My insides flipped, and my heart pounded violently against my ribcage. I tried to speak, but nothing came out. I just stared at him, my breath quickening. The heat between us was unbearable I needed to quench it. His hands pulled me even closer, and his lips found mine again in a light, lingering kiss. Then he trailed kisses across my chin, then my cheeks. My breath hitched as he moved to my jawline, then down to my neck. His head tilted into mine as his lips traced the curve of my collarbones. I found my arms instinctively wrapping around his neck. He must have taken it as permission, because the next second, he lifted me up with his hands cupping my butt, kissing me deeply.I c

"Hey," he said gently, pulling my hands away from my face. "It's okay to......""I'm still in love with you, Blake," I blurted out, my heart somersaulting in my chest. I felt it slam against my ribcage as I watched his face freeze. His eyes searched mine, and his parted lips trembled slightly."I... let's....." he started, but stopped himself. Instead, he kissed me deeply, and I just stood there, stunned. When he pulled back, he asked softly, "Are you willing to give us a chance again?"I nodded frantically, my nerves buzzing."To be my perfect girlfriend again?" He asked."Yes, Blake," I replied, my eyes locking with his. He leaned in and planted a tender kiss on my forehead, lingering a little before pulling me into a warm hug."Thank you," he whispered into my hair, but I heard it clearly."Let’s go back inside. The cold is intense," he said, taking my hand.I nodded and followed him.Back in the closet, I stood in front of the mirror, still blushing. My face was warm, my mind a me

“Carmen,” he said, taking my hands. “I spent my nights in ways a man never should after the breakup too. I know it was my decision, but I swear to you it’ll never happen again. I never truly doubted you, not for a second. I knew, deep down, that you could never cheat on me. But the jealousy... it overwhelmed me. I let it cloud my judgment. I’m sorry, Carmen. I need you. I’ve never stopped loving you. Not once. I’ve spent every second since praying for the chance to say this to you. And when I saw you at the restaurant, I started making plans. plans to have you back in my life.”“I’m not trying to rush you into anything, Carmen. Take your time. I don’t care how long it takes... I’ll wait. I promise.”“Blak.....”“Shh,” he placed a finger gently over my lips. With his other hand, he guided me back toward the house.Once inside the room, I excused myself to shower. Yes, Fab, we kissed,” I said into the phone for the fourth time.“Like, for real?!” Fab screamed on the other end. “Your ex-boyfriend kissed you in his own fancy estate house?!”“Yes, Fab…” I replied, trying not to roll my eyes.“And then what happened? See? Now you probably wish you’d let me get you some sexy nightwear!”“He wants us to get back together,” I confessed, staring down at the pool water where my feet were dipped. The coolness helped calm me down.“Really?! I knew this was coming! I’m so happy for you, girlfriend. What did you say?”“Nothing. I just ran out like an idiot.”“That’s because you are an idiot, Carmen,” Fab shot back, throwing my own words at me.“Geez, Fab, thanks for the support,” I muttered, glancing back toward the house, hoping Blake wasn’t out on the balcony watching me.“Why’d you run?” she asked, her tone softening.“Fab, it’s been three freaking years since we broke up. What about that saying ‘Never take back your ex’?”“That’s just some crap a bitte

“What is this place?” I asked, still looking around in awe, completely lost in the moment.“This is mine, Carmen,” Blake said, taking my hand. “Come on... I’ll show you inside.”He gently pulled me along, and an elevator carried us up to the upper floor. The moment I stepped into the room, I gasped. I had never seen anything so beautiful. There was only one word to describe it white. From the transparent glass walls to the chairs, the floor, the ceiling, and the drapes everything was white, clean, and glowing. A large king-size bed sat in the center of the room, and two tall white doors adorned the adjacent wall.“Blake, this place is beautiful,” I said absentmindedly.“This is the surprise I had for you, Carmen,” he said softly. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier.”He took my hands, and I looked up at him, torn by a whirlwind of emotions.“I brought you to Korea so we could spend time together. I want us to be together again. I want to show you how sorry I am… for everything for br
