Pedro Hernandez

I gave Adrielle a week, as she asked. I haven't gotten close to her and we haven't even seen each other in the last few days. Abby hasn't been to my house either and I imagine it's because she's afraid of seeing me. My own daughter is afraid of me, that's unbelievable. My body goes rigid thinking that she's projecting her fears onto me. I can't imagine how someone could have traumatized her so much that she'd be so scared just by being alone with me. Leonard's name is still in my head, circling like a vulture. I don't want to be right, I don't even want to think that he could be the cause.

I try to organize my thoughts as I go down the stairs. I think this is a good thing, or I'll get angry before I go to Victor's house. According to my friend, we're having dinner with friends. If I remember correctly, that was an excuse to drink. Even with his responsibilities, he's still a braggart.

What a surprise.

My mother appears in the entrance hall just as I'm about to leave. T

Pedro HernandezJackson's tone is full of disdain, as if I were someone so despicable that he can barely bear to mention my name. How ironic. The person who is truly despicable seems to have all the kindness of others, while I carry the anger and resentment that is left."Why are you acting like this?" Adrielle asks her brother, as if she is bothered by his rudeness."Why are you acting like he is a poor guy? How can you still believe his lies after all these years?" His tone is serious and full of anger. Jackson's eyes focus on his sister, with resentment and growing anger. "Last week you said you couldn't deal with his return and now it seems you have forgiven him."Adrielle doesn't answer him, she just shakes her head in denial. I can hear her mutter something so low that it is almost inaudible, but I can still understand it."You are unbelievable."Perfect, the tense atmosphere is back! The fog hangs over us again, but this time it's not my fault. Neither of us dares to say anythi

Pedro HernandezI sigh and look back at the blinds. Bruno is outside, the tow truck is leaving, as are the police cars. One of them remains parked on the other side of the street and I imagine it is keeping watch. A red car enters the garden and parks very close to the other cars. A man comes out and walks towards Bruno, to give him something and then leaves."I heard them say something to you. What was it?" Victor asks.I freeze. My body freezes and my breath catches. How can I tell them that I just received a threat? I turn around cautiously, their eyes are focused on me again. Adrielle is now sitting on the couch. Lyla is standing with her arms crossed and Victor is staring at me. Jackson doesn't have a good expression, while his husband seems only focused on the conversation.I take a deep breath and take a few steps forward, to get closer to them. I put my hands in my pants pockets and I can see how Adrielle seems focused on my every move. I know that worried expression.“They to

Pedro HernandezI sit on the sidewalk after giving my statement to the police. Victor insisted that we should notify them and didn't even wait for me to make a decision about it. I discovered that the car that was pulling up was Jackson's car, Adrielle's brother. I'm glad they're okay, but I know that the only target is me.Victor is talking to a man with curly black hair. I can't imagine who he is, but he was accompanying Jackson in his car. I can see that they both have a gold ring on their ring finger and I wonder about that. I don't remember Adrielle mentioning her brother's sexuality or anything like that. Maybe he wasn't as open as he seems today. Jackson doesn't seem like the same teenager he was seven years ago. He's well-dressed, in casual clothes.I look back at my car, which is being towed. Lyla said that we should notify my mother about this, but I refused. I called Bruno, because I knew he could help me and wouldn't cause any harm to my mother's health. I don't want you t

Pedro HernandezI get into the Urus and press the ignition button. I put it in gear and drive out the gates. The streets of Los Angeles are a bit busy. There are ride-hailing cars everywhere, as well as other cars. This time, I ask Victor for the location of his house. I don't want to get lost again. He said he still lives in the same place, but my memory for directions has been bad these days. The car radio is playing a song that starts to irritate me when I pay attention to the lyrics. It almost describes what's happening right now."Maybe this is wishful thinkingProbably just meaningless dreamingBut if we loved again, I swear I'd love you rightI'd go back in time and change it, but I can'tSo if the chain is on your door, I understandBut this is me swallowing my prideStanding in front of you saying I'm sorry for that nightAnd I go back to December all the timeTurns out freedom is nothing more than missing youWishing I'd realized what I had when you were mineI'd go back to

Adrielle HaleI sigh as I give in. I lower my head and close my eyes, knowing that it might not be a good idea, but I'll go have dinner with old friends."Okay," I say in a low tone.I lift my head and look at her. Lyla gives me a winning smile again, as if she were winning battles in ancient Rome."I'll talk to Abby. Maybe she'll want to stay at Sofia's house since Pedro won't be there." My tone is calm, but I'm afraid Abby will have the same reaction as last week. "I think Victor will want to drink everything he hasn't had in the last seven years."Lyla laughs, amused by my last comment."If he's planning to do that, only the two of them will get drunk. I have to work tomorrow," she says in a good-natured tone, as she picks up her coffee from my desk. "I'll leave you alone, I have to work too."I nod in agreement as Lyla stands up and walks towards the door to my office. I turn my attention to the charts of some patients I need to check. Some have surgery scheduled for tomorrow, but
