Chloe's POV

"Fuck me herder, Naomi!" He grunted, his voice filled with pure ecstacy. The kind I'd never seen in bed with him…wait? When was the last time we'd even slept together? 10 months ago? No, was it my last birthday?

Nathan, my own husband. The guy who told me he was flying to Tokyo for business.

I couldn't move. I couldn't even yell. Whatever was in that white pill had locked my muscles completely, "Yea,I'm damn sure it was the white pill!" I thought to myself. It was different this time. It always made me sleep, but it was as if I had triple dosage this time. I had to just lie there in the dark, staring at the dust under the nightstand, listening to my husband and my best friend fucking hard.

It didn't feel real but the tears leaking from my eyes now were sure as hell real.

The bed shook hard again, this time with Nathan letting out a loud groan, and Naomi made a sharp noise. "Fuck me! Arhgg, I'm gonna cum. I'm gonna cum!"

"Fuck!" With Nathan groaning louder.

Then it stopped. Naomi cried out, her breath shaking.

The room went quiet, except for their heavy breathing. Naomi shifted her weight.

"You are so much better than her," Nathan whispered.

"Of course, love. I'm a whore in bed. You know that." Naomi responded, laughing lightly. Then, her voice went right back to that sweet, gentle tone she always used with me. "I'm so sick of pretending to be her best friend, babe. It's starting to get exhausting."

"It's almost over," Nathan said almost immediately. His voice was totally cold. The exact way he talks when he reads financial reports. "Is she still out?"

"Yeah, she's on the floor," Naomi laughed. It was a small, mean sound. "It's two times the milligram of her normal doze, knocked her like two minutes later. She won't remember anything. She never does, anyway."

My heart stopped. The pills…The fertility vitamins she forced me to take every single week. They weren't just vitamins?

"Good," Nathan said. "Remind me again why she's taking those pills?"

Naomi scoffed, then sighed out loud. "Babe? As long as she takes them, she won't get pregnant. A kid makes a divorce too messy."

"Right," Nathan said. "If she has a baby, the board members will keep the company in her name. They loved her dead mother too much."

"Exactly. You already control most of the company anyway," Naomi said.

"Yea. I just need her to sign her personal shares over to me. Once she signs the papers, I'm divorcing her. Then you can finally be my wife."

"I've been waiting too long, baby" Naomi said. "We've been doing this since college, Nathan. I'm tired of hiding."

College? They were together before I even met him. Before my mom ever gave him a job.

My whole life was a lie. My best friend was a monster! And I was married to a robber. I lay there on the cold floor, completely still. This sadness turned into pure burning anger.

Naomi and Nathan were working together to ruin me like this??

"I bought a gift for Chloe today," Nathan's voice came from the bed. "A new Mercedes. It's parked downstairs. I have to give it to her so she doesn't get suspicious. Help me out with the surprise."

"Wait what? No way!" Naomi whined. "I want it, baby. Please!"

There was a brief silence from Nathan hesitating. "Chloe will notice if it's missing, Naomi." He said at last.

"Just tell her the dealership delayed the delivery or something," Naomi said. "Come on, baby. Take me downstairs to see it." She grunted, accepting defeat. "Fine. But at least let me sit in it first."

Nathan paused. "We have to be fast, okay? Before she wakes up."

I heard them get out of bed and put their clothes on. The bedroom door opened and shut, with the lock clicking.

The moment the door closed, the tears flooded out. I let out a loud, shaking sob. It was an effort as I rolled onto my stomach, my knees shaking violently. I used the edge of the nightstand to pull my body up. My legs felt like jelly, but the anger inside me was too hot to care. I grabbed my purse, stuffed my phone inside, stumbling toward the door.

I had to get out of there.

I didn't even know what building I was in. I found a back exit and pushed the heavy metal door open.

The cold night air hit my face. It was a dark, empty alley behind the club. I took three steps before a shadow moved from the corner.

"Look who it is," a rough voice said.

I froze. It was the crazy dude from the dance floor. He had two of his friends with him this time and they'd blocked the exit.

"Your little friend isn't here to save you now," the guy smiled. He looked drunk and mean.

"Get away from me," I choked out, backing up against the brick wall. My body was still weak from the pill. Shoot! I couldn't even run.

One of his friends grabbed my arm and slammed me hard against the wall. The main guy stepped close, his breath smelling like cheap liquor. He pinned my wrists above my head. His heavy hands started ripping at my dress.

"Stop! Please, stop!" I screamed, kicking my legs. I bit his shoulder hard.

He yelled and struck me across the face. My head snapped to the side, and I felt the stinging heat on my cheek. He pressed his weight against me, pinning me down. I closed my eyes, tears streaming down my neck. I couldn't fight them off. I felt completely trapped, and weak from the pills.

Suddenly, there was a heavy sound and the pressure was gone.

The weight vanished instantly. I opened my eyes and saw a tall man in a dark suit. He moved with a speed that didn't seem real, pulling the guy off me and shoving him hard against the wall. The guy hit the ground and didn't move.

The other two charged at him. The man in the suit didn't even flinch at all, acting and looking all tough like some action movie star. He intercepted them with precise movements, knocking the second one back with enough force to send him sprawling. The third one took one look at his friends and bolted into the darkness of the alley.

The man straightened his jacket and adjusted his cuffs. He looked completely calm, like he was just finishing a conversation instead of a fight. He turned around and looked down at me, his shadow falling over where I hid.

  • My Ex Husband's Regret    You’re Finally Here

Chloe’s POVThe dark shape leaning over me transformed into Nathan’s face the second my eyes adjusted. His breath smelled like the whiskey he always drank when he couldn’t sleep. One of his hands was already on my shoulder, the other sliding lower.“Chloe, baby, wake up,” he whispered, voice thick. “I’m so fucking horny. It’s been too long. Come on, just let me—”I shoved at his chest hard. “Get off me!”He didn’t move despite all my efforts to push him away. His fingers tugged at the hem of my shirt instead, trying to pull it up. “Don’t be like that. You’re my wife. I need you tonight!”Hate burned so hot in my throat I almost choked on it. Cheater! Liar!. This was the man who had been inside Naomi while I remained frozen on the cold floor. The same son of a butch who had fed me dangerous pills for years so I could never have a child. Every part of me wanted to scream those truths in his face, but the fight for my late mother's company stopped me. He still had control of it on paper

  • My Ex Husband's Regret    Nothing Was Enough

Chloe's POVNaomi sat across from me in that quiet and poised manner, she would not tell me who the father of the baby was. That was the part that made my skin crawl. Besides the big pregnancy reveal of course. But the way she just sat there, folding her hands in her lap, one ankle tucked behind the other like we were two friends having tea instead of what this actually was. The lamp light fell soft on her face and made her look gentle. Almost angelic."Before you ask, I'm not telling you who the father is," she said. "Not yet. You'll know when the time is right."When the time is right? Like she was doing me a favor. I managed to keep my face still even though it cost me everything."The right time," I repeated, and heard my own voice come out light. "Naomi, can you even hear yourself right now? You show up pregnant, you won't say who the man is, and you act like this is all normal and I should pay you in the back?"She laughed. A small, warm laugh, the one she used to give me when I

  • My Ex Husband's Regret    Her Soft Smile Cuts Deep

Chloe’s POVBianca was fine, that was the only thing that mattered. She had tripped on the garden steps earlier and fallen hard enough that Jane panicked, calling Nathan when my own phone hadn't gone through. By the time I arrived the doctor was already there, checking her pupils and asking the same questions twice to be sure there were no signs of concussion. Bianca kept insisting she was okay, even laughing a little when Jane fussed over the small scrape on her elbow.I hugged my sister longer than usual before I left. Jane squeezed my hand at the door and wished me to get home safely. I was nodding, mumbling a “thank you” to her, but my mind was already somewhere else. The way he had looked at the restaurant earlier kept replaying in my head. That brief flash of something almost sad beneath the cold expression when he stubbornly refused the deal. Derek wasn't…usually like that. He was playful, teasing when he wanted to. Especially the moment he started to call me his darling in tha

  • My Ex Husband's Regret    He’s Very Stubborn

Chloe’s POVElla turned to him, surprised. “Derek—”“I said the deal is off,” he repeated, still watching me. “She’s not handling it. No one from that company is. Ella, you didn't tell me that's why you've brought me here.”My mouth opened, then closed. Heat rushed up my neck, part shock, part anger. He turned to me, snapping. “You heard me, Cara Mia. It's not happening.”He said Cara Mia in public! But that didn't even give me much concern compared to the fact that he said the deal was off!The table went quiet. Ryan stayed still beside me. Ella looked between her brother and me like she had missed an entire conversation.I forced myself to hold Derek’s gaze even though my heartbeat was rising too fast. I was still trying to process the words. The deal is off? Just like that, before it has even begun?“Um…” I brought myself to speak. “If this is about um, the last time, we take full responsibility!”Ryan flashed me a warning glare, looking disappointed in me. What had I said wrong? H

  • My Ex Husband's Regret    The Cold Guy Is Friendly

Chloe’s POV“Morning,” Ryan said. His voice was calm, almost quiet. “You look like you didn’t sleep much.”I raised an eyebrow, blinking twice. He was being nice two times a row?. “Is it that obvious?”He nodded, “a little.” Then took it to himself to quickly head out before I could even utter another word. When he came back, he was holding two paper cups. “I got coffee. Thought you might need one too.”He set one down in front of me. The smell hit first — strong and bitter with no milk? Clearly I was sure there was no sugar there too. For me? Clearly he didn't know about my secret obsession for sugary things. I forced a smile. “Thanks. That's…very nice of you.”He gave a tiny shrug and sat back down, already opening his laptop like it was no big deal.I waited until he looked away, then quietly poured half the coffee into the plant behind my desk when no one was watching. The rest went into the trash under a crumpled napkin. I wasn’t going to reject the only person in this office wh

  • My Ex Husband's Regret    Incoming Phone Call

Chloe’s POVI stood still, staring at him with possibly fire residing in my eyes. For a second I didn't care anymore if it would show on my face. “What nonsense are you saying?” I forced my jaw to losen. “Why won't I use my medicine?”Three years of hoping for a baby they made sure I would never have.I forced my breathing to slow, and for my shoulders to drop. The rage was slowly melting from my eyes. It was working…Then he mentioned her name, causing my insides to form a hard knot all over again. “Naomi told you that?” He raised an eyebrow like the question was strange. “Chloe, your best friend has been worried about you. It's so obvious you're stressing yourself lately, especially with you taking up this job right now. Just resign, let me handle the company, hmm?”My best friend. How fucked up was that! When I heard Ryan lived in the richest estate in town, I wanted to rush and call Naomi, sharing the news with her. When I fucked the richest man in town!...She was my best frien
