MARCOS
Bianca had been on duty last night, but that didn’t stop me from going straight to her workplace to ask what Emily was doing back in town.
I was full of hope that she’d returned for good, to stay. Part of me imagined she might be hurting from a recent breakup, but at the same time, I was glad because it meant she was free to be won over again.
I’d always hated seeing any guy touch her, even before we started hooking up. Something inside me screamed that she needed to be protected, cherished. Emily was pure, innocent, and sweet—she should stay that way, but I couldn’t resist her.
After the day I felt her lips, I knew I couldn’t go back and let others kiss my girl. Like anyone else, she had desires, even if she was just starting to discover them, and she’d find them with any guy or man she wanted.
But I’d never let another touch her. She was mine and no one else’s.
“Can I know why you’re here at this hour?” Bianca had just become a nurse and was already completely dedicated to her job.
“I waited for you at home until Joshua reminded me you were on duty.” Her impatient look made me get to the point. “Emily’s here. She’s back, Bianca.”
“Emily? Your Emy?” I nodded. “No way. We talked the other day, and she didn’t mention anything about coming.”
“Well, I saw her at the supermarket earlier today.” She opened her mouth to speak, but I cut her off. “And before you say I’m hallucinating, Bruno and Pedro were with me. When they said her name, she turned around right away, and I knew it was her.”
“She didn’t tell me anything. Why would she come here and not tell me?” That was a question I wanted answered too.
“You’re the only one she’ll talk to, and I need to know if she’s here to stay.”
Bianca narrowed her eyes at me. I knew she didn’t want to get involved in my story with her friend. She’d said from the start she didn’t want to lose her friend or hate her brother.
Emily hadn’t told her about the day she left, hadn’t told my sister the awful things I said to her. So I wouldn’t be the one to spill it either. They had an agreement, and I respected that.
“I’ll only be able to talk to her tomorrow morning when I’m off duty. But don’t worry, we’ll talk, and I’m sure she’ll tell me what’s going on.”
YEARS AGO
Sleeping with that soft body on top of mine was my new favorite thing. I wasn’t the type to cuddle after a hookup, and yet here I was. I hadn’t even slept with Emy, but she was wrapped in my arms, her face resting on my chest.
We’d kissed for hours last night, and I could still see the result on her delicate lips, now slightly swollen.
We stayed on that couch for a good while, and damn, we ended up falling asleep. My dick was aching for relief, but I wasn’t going to do that with her.
I was only there to stop her from hooking up with someone else. That was my lame excuse.
We slept tangled together, and it was the best feeling—that warm, soft, delicate little body on mine.
She stirred, and I got a better look at her face in the morning light. She was even more beautiful in the morning, with her messy brown hair, her matching brown eyes a bit puffy, and that cheeky smile on her face.
“Good morning, Emy,” I said, brushing the bangs from her face until I could see her eyes clearly.
I shouldn’t have kissed her last night. It was the most wrong thing I’d ever done. Emy was still in high school, and I was twenty-one. We were complete opposites.
But all it took was remembering John trying to lift her dress while she fought against him for me to be set on being her first.
“Good morning,” she replied softly, nestling her head better on my chest, pressing small kisses where my heart was beating.
My heart was racing, pounding way too fast for someone who’d just woken up, and she definitely had no idea why I was so worked up.
Emy trailed kisses down my chest, my abs, following every muscle, and I was floored. It didn’t take long for my little friend to spring to life, hardening and pressing against her stomach.
She swallowed hard as she looked up at me, her eyes sparkling with joy, but I could see the shyness and embarrassment there too.
Emy had been like that last night too when she felt my erection against her belly. Her face turned red, blushing from her cheeks to her hair.
It was funny to see that the same girl who’d challenged me to stay at the party, who told me she wasn’t a good girl, was blushing because she’d made my dick come alive.
“Let’s take it slow, okay?” I murmured, trying to calm her when I saw she was frozen, unsure of what to do.
“Sorry.” I held her face with both hands, keeping her focused on me.
“No need for that. You don’t have to apologize. Come here,” I said, grabbing her waist and flipping our positions. “I want to kiss you a little more.”
I bit my lower lip, pulling at the soft flesh, and heard her low moan escape.
Damn, I didn’t want just a little more. I wanted everything. I wanted to kiss
that mouth for the rest of my life.
Emily - YEARS AGOI was stupidly happy. In a few weeks, I’d be moving to the neighboring town to start college. Even though it meant spending less time with Bete, Bianca, and Marcos, I was thrilled about the idea of being more independent and starting the next chapter of my life.Marcos would make weekend trips to see me until he could move there permanently. It was Bianca’s last year, so he still needed to stay close and keep an eye on her, since their drunk father was useless. The following year, she’d likely get a scholarship to any college she wanted—she was a true genius—and then he’d be free to move in with me.The more time we spent planning our future, the more real it felt.“We should go to that concert in the next town,” Bete burst into my room, her phone in hand, typing frantically. “Done. I’ve convinced Carlos. Now you just need to convince Marcos.”She and Carlos hadn’t been apart since graduation. In fact, they’d been hooking up for a while, always sneaking off to hidden
Emily“They won’t give up until things seem sorted between us,” Marcos began, trying to start a conversation. I ignored his voice, or at least tried to, squeezing my eyes shut as if that would make him disappear. “I know you don’t want to talk, and I get it, I really do, but if you could at least listen.”I clenched my fists until my nails dug into my skin, then took a deep breath and finally looked at him. His clear, expressive eyes made me want to cry and demand why he’d deceived me, but all I did was hold his gaze.“I remember the last time I saw you before our fight. That night, I dropped you off at home after we left the cabin. When I got to my place, my nightmare began.” He interlaced his fingers and stared at them, his usual reaction when he felt uneasy, but this Marcos in front of me was a different person. “I caught my dad grabbing Bianca. He was too drunk to know what he was doing, calling her by my mom’s name while she was on the floor, and he tried to tear her clothes off.
Emily - YEARS AGOThe year had finally ended. I was finishing high school, and next year I’d be heading to college in the neighboring town. I wouldn’t be able to see Marcos every day, but in a few months, he’d move there, and we’d live together.Of course, my mom nearly lost it. I was too young for this, she said. I needed to rethink everything, live my life before deciding to build one with him. But what could I do when the love of my life came along faster than hers did?Today, I didn’t want to think about that. I just wanted to have fun and give myself to Marcos. I couldn’t take it anymore after months of heated make-outs, kisses, and getting off through our clothes. I needed more.“Are you sure about this, sweetheart?” my mom asked when she saw me packing an extra change of clothes in my bag.The plan was to go to Bete’s house after graduation, but of course, she must’ve figured it out.“I’m sure. I know it’s time, Mom!” I said, with the certainty I felt in every part of my body.
EmilyWe arrived quickly at the town’s newest club, thanks to São Fernando’s nearly nonexistent traffic. I parked in the employee spot Bete used and noticed a shiny new pickup parked nearby. He was already here, I deduced. I hurried out before Bete, needing to give him a heads-up before she spilled everything.Bete followed slowly behind, and soon we heard the heavy thud of cowboy boots against the concrete, running toward us.“Hey, you,” I muttered when I saw him, but his eyes were already locked on the beauty behind me. “Down here, it’s me you haven’t seen in five years!” I said louder to get his attention.“God, you look awful,” he said, finally looking at me, but he wasn’t surprised by my injuries. Someone — Marcos or Bianca — had already spilled the beans.“Watch what you do if you don’t want the same to happen to you,” I muttered, focusing on Bete.“You’re making me nervous. Hi,” he said as Bete finally caught up. “What’s going on?” He stumbled over his words, showing how nervou
EmilyMy head was throbbing, almost like a hangover, but the pain only worsened when I tried to get up. My whole body ached, but I could hear voices coming from the kitchen.“Bi?” I called out, forcing myself to cross the short hallway to the kitchen. The whispers I’d heard when I got up stopped the moment I spoke.“Good morning, Emy. Feeling better?” Bi appeared at the doorway, catching me off guard. She sounded upbeat, but her face couldn’t hide her concern. What was going on here… It wasn’t hard to figure out. I only had to look past her to see Marcos at the stove, staring at me. What the hell was this? “Sorry, I didn’t think you’d wake up so early, and he…”“Enough of that.” He cut off Bianca’s explanations, marching toward me. “God, look at you…” Marcos murmured, standing close, then touching my face. I was frozen. I should’ve punched him or cursed him out, but I just stood there, confused, as he held my face gently. “I’m talking to him today, and you’re not going back there. You
Emily - YEARS AGOIt had been a few days since things had calmed down a bit for Marcos. The end of the year was approaching, and with it, my vacation. I wanted to spend as much time as possible with him before I had to move to the neighboring town for college. Of course, my parents weren’t thrilled with this decision—they always thought I’d follow Fernando’s path and go to São Paulo—but they understood that Marcos was too important to me to just leave behind. I took a deep breath in the car before jumping out and grabbing the snacks I’d made with my mom.“He’s going to love the surprise,” she said, encouraging me.I walked hesitantly toward the entrance of Mr. Silva’s auto shop, where Marcos worked. I’d already spotted him from a distance, his pants hanging low on his hips, his tank top and arms smeared with grease, his head buried under the hood of a car.“Good afternoon, young lady!” Silva greeted me as soon as Mom drove off, drawing everyone’s attention.“Good morning, Mr. Silva.
