(Mr. Thomas White's Mansion – 12:00 AM)

Roseline had thought Thompson White's mansion was the biggest there was in the whole of Mayfair City.

She had been in total awe of its magnificence the first time she visited him; it was a miracle her eyeballs didn't pop out of their sockets from admiration of the palace-like structure that day.

Arriving at the Thomases’ mansion gave her a total mindset shift, even before she got to go in.

She could have sworn the air within the premises felt entirely different—like the type of crisp, fresh breeze the majestic goodness of affluence brought.

The mansion, that could pass for a golden house, stood firm at the center of the compound. The cream-colored paint of the walls of the exterior, lined with expensive glass doors and windows, screamed undefined luxury.

There were flowers on either side of the sparkling-clean, spacious compound, but they didn't look like the bunch of normal, on-the-verge-of-withering flowers you'd see at every other house planted to beautify.

They looked different—plump, alive, rich, like treasures.

Roseline shivered from the heavy aura the atmosphere in the Thomases’ mansion carried.

"This is heaven!" she whispered under her breath, looking around.

"Let's go," Thompson beckoned with a shaky voice after parking the car properly in the garage, which had about seven other different cars of impeccable value and prestige.

"Are you okay?" Roseline asked, concerned.

Exhaling heavily, failing to hide just how nervous he was to see his father for one of the most important meetings that would determine his fate as a son of the Whites, Thompson replied in a tone too low for how he'd normally sound.

"Of course I am. Let's go."

Unsure of why Thompson was acting strange, but occupied with the thought of just how much better being inside of the Thomases’ mansion would be, Roseline clicked her tongue against her teeth before walking forward to meet Thompson.

But instead of walking towards the entrance of the mansion, Thompson turned and started to walk around it.

"Uuhm! Isn't that the main entrance of your father's house?" Roseline asked, pointing towards the door she thought they would be passing through.

"We're going to go in from behind," Thompson replied, grabbing her hand gently and continuing to walk towards the backside of the house.

"Why?" Roseline asked, surprised, but more curious about what his reason could be.

Clearing his throat silently, Thompson replied,

"I need to grab something quickly from my room before heading to meet my father."

"Oh, okay," Roseline nodded, disappointed at how her simple dream from minutes ago—which was walking through the front door, under a self-conjured spotlight, into the mansion—had been shattered.

Without any further question, she followed Thompson's lead until they got to a door just by the side of the building. Pulling it open silently, Thompson motioned for her to get in and followed suit immediately before gently closing it behind him.

Something was off about him going through a door different from the main entrance and how he acted discreet about it, keeping his steps gentle and his voice down the whole time, but Roseline did not bother to ask anyway.

They walked through an empty, dim-lighted passage that smelt heavily of fresh lavender before turning towards an open door that revealed a space livelier and more well-lit than where they had come from.

Just before they crossed the door, Thompson let go of Roseline's hand to adjust his tie. Then, taking a deep breath, he turned to her, his face melting into a wide smile.

"Let's go, shall we?" he whispered to her, the smile still plastered firmly on his face.

Not sure of the cause for his sudden smile, Roseline rubbed her neck uncomfortably, fighting the urge to sit him down and have a proper conversation as to why he had been acting weird since they got there.

"Let's go," she whispered back instead, forcing herself to smile too in order to reduce how awkward it had turned between them.

Slipping her hand back in his, her face turned away from his ridiculous, smile-infested face, they walked through the door.

It was like a whole different world.

The beauty of the interior was way beyond Roseline's imagination.

Whosoever did the interior decoration of the space could as well become a magician, Roseline had thought.

She was still lost in the beauty of the area surrounding her when Thompson's voice rang out loudly through the silence, cracking against her solemn focus on admiration.

"Dad, I'm right here!" he spoke out excitedly, raising the hand with which he was holding Roseline's up in the air and swinging it dramatically.

Following Thompson's eyes to see who he was talking to, Roseline failed to notice the row of stairs before her, causing her to miss a step and slip over to the next.

She gasped out of shock as she grabbed onto the rail to save herself from falling.

Thompson had rushed over to her, but instead of saving her, he had pulled a hand over her mouth to muffle any sound she could have made.

When she regained her balance, she shot him a surprised look that was more of a silent question.

"What are you doing right now?"

But Thompson continued to descend the stairs.

"C'mon, darling. C'mon," he beckoned to her like he did not just see her miss her balance.

Shaking her head, Roseline made to keep moving down, but her ankle went stiff. The pain was unbearable, and she couldn't help but crouch down to massage the area.

Her eyes saw glittering stars as soon as she pressed down on it in an effort to ease the pain she felt. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead. She had hurt her ankle on her first visit to her would-be father-in-law's house.

She looked up to see that Thompson was already down the stairs, almost out of her view. Standing up, she made to walk but only succeeded in limping with so much effort down the next stair.

"Where's Dad?" she heard Thompson ask, and barely a second after, another voice, firm and masculine, spoke from behind her.

"Young lady!"

  • My Ex's Father is My One-night Stand   LITTLE DID SHE KNOW

(Silver Fly Hotel - 6:20PM)Some other activities came right after the contract award presentation. The crowd was rowdy now, with people talking in groups majorly about shares, contracts and business deals. Now left alone at the table, because Thompson had still not returned since that time, Roseline sipped the wine in the tall glass in front of her slowly, her eyes perusing the crowd for any sight of Thompson. It was during her desperate search through the crowd that she caught sight of Mr. Thomas. He was surrounded by quite a number of business men and women. Each of them had wine in glasses, but they barely took any sip as they continued to take turns responding to whatever it was Mr. Thomas was talking to them about. The attention the old man commanded added immensely to his charms. He could easily pass as the most good-looking in the room, his age notwithstanding. After minutes of stealing glances at Mr. Thomas, wondering how the people around him managed with rash attitude, a

  • My Ex's Father is My One-night Stand   ANOTHER ENCOUNTER WITH HIS FATHER

(Silver Fly Hotel - 5:15PM)If Roseline had a choice, she would have excused herself from tonight's event. She was not feeling too well to be outside, but Thompson had casually apologized for the short notice, and insisted it was best they went together. He had even bought her a complete outfit, dinner dress, shoes and jewelries, for the occasion.Just like that, she had grumpily proceeded to get ready for it all, sighing as she slipped into the sleek black satin gown Thompson had handed over to her.Not because she didn't like how her skin welcomed the soft feel of the fabric against it, but because after dressing up wrongly twice in succession while meeting with Mr. Thomas White, and getting embarrassed terribly each time for it, she had lived her life hating to have to do that again. She wasn't in for this event at all, a sick feeling rumbled in her stomach. On a good day, she wouldn't even want to see Mr. Thomas. The fact that she had to handle meeting him on a day like this wit

  • My Ex's Father is My One-night Stand   HEARTS APART

(Thompson White's Mansion - 11:02PM)Body frozen, mind blank, Roseline's eyes ran through the strings of words that formed the message on the tiny card in her right hand again, and again, and again, her head working hard for a clue on who this anonymous sender might be.She could not think of anyone. Before meeting Thompson, she had been a hot mess on the cold streets of London, jumping from one odd job to another one in a bid to feed, as well as settle her mother's treatment bills. During those times, the most she got from people was pity. Admiration? Concern? She could only afford to wish someone thought of her in that light. After she met Thompson, her life took a better turn. It is true that she no longer needed to lift a finger at all to see food on her table or make sure her mother received the best medical treatments, she now wore clothes from the best designers in the country, and could afford to sleep all her time away everyday and everything would just keep getting bett

  • My Ex's Father is My One-night Stand   FIRST ANONYMOUS FLOWER DELIVERY

(Thompson White's Mansion - 9AM)Roseline was alone in the house now. Earlier, as soon as he was done dressing up and eating breakfast, Thompson had left with his father who had already prepared to return back to his own mansion that day.Thompson had received an earful from his father the previous night about how he should cut down on his promiscuity and focus instead on growing the company to become bigger than it already was, a clear disapproval of his actions which might become a taint on his record for the silent campaign he was having with his younger brother, Nelson, for the head chairman position after his father. He had listened attentively to his father as he talked and even promised to do better. Whereas, anger brewed in his heart. He believes he had to listen to all of that because Roseline suddenly acted up then.Thompson believes his father had a soft spot for good girls, and that was why it was easy for him to like Roseline. That was his target after all.He wouldn't ha

  • My Ex's Father is My One-night Stand   CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE

(Thompson White's Mansion - 6:00PM)Thomas had just gotten out of his room after hours of checking through the documents his secretary had sent to his mail with "URGENT" tagged to everyone of them.Wondering why he had been having so much to do lately at the office, even during weekends, and so much more why Thompson didn't have, at least, live-in cooks, he strolled casually along the empty walkway, towards the sitting room.Just as he was about to take the first step down the staircase, he heard the doorbell ring.Shutting his eyes briefly, he opened them again, frustrated about having to go back to his room as he didn't want to bump into whoever it was at the door, he sighed. For some reason, Thomas was hungry as he didn't eat much during breakfast. But he had to wait now, until he could go down to the kitchen. He thought about asking Roseline to get him something to eat, but he knew she must hate him now, given how not so nice he had been to her from their second meeting.Roseline

  • My Ex's Father is My One-night Stand   THE UNINVITED GUEST

(Thompson White's Mansion – 4:00 PM)Sitting alone in the living room, engrossed in going through the last set of documents for the week, Thompson heard the doorbell ding to his surprise. His father was in his room upstairs. He hadn't seen Roseline leave the house earlier too. Even though they were out, they knew the door's passcode wasn't activated, so there was no reason to use the doorbell."Was it a visitor?" he thought, but he wasn't expecting anyone.Besides, his gatekeepers were specially trained force men and wouldn't allow anybody they weren't familiar with into the house without consulting him first.Unsure, he listened as the doorbell dinged again, before standing up to check out who it was."Surprise!" Berry yelled as soon as he opened the door, smiling widely and swinging her arms excitedly in the air."What are you doing here, Berry?" Thompson asked, alarmed at her sudden appearance, his eyes giving away how much he feared the trouble her mere presence would stir if thing
