Chapter Fifty-five

Madeleine

I stepped inside the circle as did Steve from the other side of the field. Everybody fell silent as they began observing our fight intently.

Steve was still smiling at me cockily and it made me go mad. I turned my head towards Hayden subtly and he only nodded a little, urging me to not be afraid of him.

Now that Steve stood in front of me, everything he had done to me came rushing to me as the memories of him torturing and bullying me flashed in front of my eyes.

I was shivering a little and gulped nervously as I could distinctly recall him hitting me, manhandling me, and hurting me both physically and mentally.

There had been nothing I could do at that time save looking at him with pitiful eyes and screaming my lungs out to let me go.

Hayden was alert and I could see that he had his fists clenched to the sides. I knew that he wanted me to brave my fears and stand up to my bully yet I felt a little nervous to fight Steve all on my
