30. Everything Went Wrong

"Chase, I really don't need a new outfit," I protested as he picked out a pink and white dress from the shelf and handed it to me. It was a pretty dress, but it wasn't my style and was completely overpriced.

"Come on, Meg. Don't fight me on this. It will look great on you," Chase insisted.

"But I don't even like pink." I was laughing it off, but I felt uncomfortable. Chase had been trying to get me to buy one thing after another as soon as we got to the mall. I told him that I didn't want him to shop for me, I was not materialistic, and it didn't matter if I had enough clothes or not, but he kept on insisting on buying more things.

Chase gave me the sad puppy eyes. "I know it's not your favorite color, but I think it would look great on you. You have such delicate, feminine features, so this dress will suit you. You know I love it when you dress up!"

"But Chase, you didn't like anything I picked out for myself earlier. So are you trying to tell me I have bad taste in clothes?"
