Serena’s pov

I cried myself to sleep that night.

I sat alone in the huge bedroom while my messages kept failing one after another.

Every failed message felt like another slap to my face.

My husband blocked me like I was some stranger bothering him.

At some point, I stopped texting.

I just sat there holding my phone while tears rolled down my cheeks endlessly.

The empty side of the bed mocked me all night.

I barely slept.

And when I finally woke up the next morning, Damian still had not come home.

My chest tightened immediately.

Something felt wrong.

I pushed myself out of bed slowly and grabbed my phone again instinctively.

Still blocked.

I swallowed hard.

No.

I could not stay inside the house doing nothing.

Maybe there was an explanation.

Maybe Ethan was wrong.

I changed clothes quickly and headed downstairs.

The staff greeted me carefully during breakfast, but I barely touched the food in front of me.

Anxiety twisted inside my chest badly now.

Finally, I grabbed my bag and left for Cole’s company.

The company tower stood proudly in the middle of downtown like always. The massive glass building reflected sunlight across the city while luxury cars filled the private entrance below.

The moment I stepped inside, the employees straightened immediately.

“Good morning, Mrs. Cole.”

“Good morning, ma’am.”

I forced small smiles at them while heading toward the executive elevator.

When the elevator opened on the top floor, I walked directly toward Damian’s office.

But the moment I entered, I froze.

Damian was not there.

Only Ethan sat inside while looking through documents near the desk.

He looked surprised to see me.

“Serena?”

“Where’s Damian?” I asked immediately.

“I thought he went home.”

My heart sank.

“He didn’t.”

I looked around the massive room helplessly.

Damian’s suit jacket rested over the couch. His laptop sat open on the desk beside untouched coffee.

But he was nowhere.

I turned back toward Ethan quickly.

“Can I use your phone?”

He frowned but handed it over immediately.

I dialed Damian’s number fast.

The call rang once.

Twice.

Then voicemail.

I called again.

No answer.

Again.

Nothing.

I lowered the phone slowly while my stomach twisted harder.

Ethan looked uncomfortable now. “Maybe he’s in a meeting.”

“He blocked my number,” I whispered.

His eyes widened slightly.

“What?”

I looked away quickly before the tears in my eyes could fall again.

“I need to find him.”

Without waiting for another response, I handed the phone back and walked out of the office.

The driver followed me downstairs immediately.

“Ma’am, where to?”

I paused for a second.

Then suddenly, I knew exactly where Damian would be.

“The lake house,” I said quietly.

The driver nodded immediately.

The lake house.

Damian’s favorite place.

A private property hidden outside the city near the water.

Whenever work overwhelmed him, he went there to think.

He once told me it was the only place where his mind felt peaceful.

We often spent weekends there together and we planned to go there before the baby comes.

The drive felt endless.

My hands stayed tightly clasped over my stomach the entire time.

Please don’t let him be with her.

Please.

But deep inside, fear already prepared me for disappointment.

An hour later, the gates of the lake house finally appeared.

The black SUV slowed near the driveway. Damian’s car was already parked outside.

My breathing became uneven immediately.

No.

No.

I stepped out before the driver could even open the door for me properly.

The lake stretched peacefully behind the large modern house while sunlight reflected beautifully across the water.

My heart stuttered to a stop when I saw Damian and Liliana sitting together near the dock.

Liliana laughed softly at something he said.

Anger rushed through me so fast that I almost felt dizzy.

I walked toward them immediately.

Neither noticed me at first.

“Damian.”

My voice came out sharp enough to make both of them turn.

The smile disappeared from Damian’s face instantly.

“Serena?”

I stopped in front of them breathing hard.

“What are you doing here?” I demanded.

He stood immediately. “Calm down.”

“Calm down?” I laughed bitterly. “You blocked me.”

Liliana looked awkward now as she stood too.

I pointed toward the lake house angrily. “Why would you bring her here?”

He rubbed one hand over his face. “Serena, let’s talk properly.”

“No.” My voice shook harder now. “This is our place.”

“Serena—”

“You lied to me.” Tears burned my eyes again. “You said you were at work.”

Damian stepped closer carefully. “Lower your voice.”

I stared at him in disbelief.

“You disappeared for two nights,” I continued loudly. “You blocked your pregnant wife, and now you’re here with her?”

“Enough.”

“No, not enough!” I snapped.

My chest rose and fell heavily now.

I turned to Liliana.

“What exactly are you hoping to gain from chasing a married man?”

She blinked in shock.

“Serena,” Damian warned.

But I was too angry to stop now.

“You walk into my house pretending to be innocent while sneaking around with my husband?”

“That’s not what’s happening,” she said softly.

“Please.” I laughed bitterly. “You should feel ashamed.”

Damian’s expression darkened instantly.

“You are disgusting,” I spat at her.

The slap came so suddenly that my entire body froze. Pain exploded across my cheek as my head snapped sideways.

For one horrifying second, complete silence filled the air.

I slowly lifted my hand to my face. The side of my skin burned and my ears rang from where he had hit me.

Damian had slapped me.

Damian.

My husband.

The father of my child.

Shock crashed through my body so hard that I could barely breathe.

Even Liliana looked stunned now.

Damian pointed a finger at me angrily.

“Why are you attacking her like this?” he snapped.

I stared at him with wide eyes as tears slid slowly down my cheeks.

“You slapped me,” I whispered. My voice sounded broken.

His jaw tightened, but he said nothing.

I pressed one trembling hand against my stomach instinctively.

“I’m pregnant with your child.”

“Shut up,” he snapped immediately.

I flinched again.

His eyes looked cold now like I meant nothing.

“You’ve forgotten your place,” he continued harshly.

My chest tightened painfully.

“What?”

Damian looked directly into my eyes.

“You were always just a replacement for Liliana,” he said coldly. “She’s the real love of my life.”

Elena’s POVThe heavy mahogany doors closed behind me with a firm, echoing click, locking out the quiet hum of the federal marshals in the hallway.Margaret stood in the center of the vast, dusty drawing room, her hands shaking violently as she clutched a heavy velvet jewelry box to her chest. Her eyes were bloodshot, surrounded by dark, sunken shadows, and her expensive velvet robe was streaked with dirt and grey dust from dragging old trunks out of the attic."Get out of my house," Margaret spat, her voice trembling with an volatile mix of outrage and pure terror. "You have no legal authority to stand on these floors! This estate is protected under the Cole family trust! My attorneys will have you arrested for trespassing before the afternoon is over!""Your family trust was dissolved at eight o'clock this morning by executive order of the federal bankruptcy court, Margaret," I said smoothly, taking three deliberate steps forward. My heels clicked against the polished parquet floor

  • My Husband Chose His Ex When I Was pregnant   Chapter 67

Elena’s POVThe news cycle was relentless.By six o'clock on Friday morning, every major financial network, global print outlet, and social media feed was running the exact same front-page headline in bold, black lettering: THE FALL OF COLE ENTERPRISE.Images of Damien’s signed confession, leaked from the federal prosecutor’s office, flashed across the wall-mounted monitors in the private war room of Alistair Vance’s coastal estate. Analysts discussed the immediate collapse of the market, the emergency receivership seizing Cole Tower, and the shocking downfall of the thirty-two-year-old multi-billionaire who had once ruled the city with an iron fist.I sat at the long teak conference table, wearing a crisp tailored grey suit, holding a hot cup of black tea in my hands. I watched the television screens in total silence. My pulse didn't race, and my chest didn't tighten. The girl who had wept in the dark servant room, terrified of Damien's shadow, was dead and buried."You did it, Elena

  • My Husband Chose His Ex When I Was pregnant   Chapter 66

Elena’s POVI sat behind my teak desk, staring blindly at the glowing tablet screen in front of me. The morning financial reports were already rolling in: Cole Enterprises had entered emergency corporate receivership. News outlets worldwide were running front-page headlines detailing the total, shocking financial collapse of Damien Cole's empire following his erratic, fatal overbid at the Continental auction.A quiet chime sounded from the security console on my desk.I tapped the screen, bringing up the live security feed from the perimeter gates down at the coastal highway. Through the driving rain and thick fog, a single figure was walking up the long, winding driveway on foot.It was Damien. He didn't have an umbrella, an escort, or an armored car. His suit jacket was gone, his white shirt was soaked through and plastered to his skin, and he was walking barefoot across the freezing gravel driveway, having dragged himself five miles from the main road in the middle of the night."M

  • My Husband Chose His Ex When I Was pregnant   Chapter 65

Damien’s POVThe air inside the subterranean auction room at the Grand Continental was thick with cigar smoke, heavy cologne, and the silent, ruthless stench of desperate money. This was not a public charity gala. This was an exclusive, off-the-record bidding war for the primary shipping concessions of the Northern Atlantic maritime corridor—a vital, multi-billion-dollar trade artery. If Cole Enterprises lost this auction, our remaining European supply lines would completely collapse by the end of the month. Bankruptcies would follow within weeks.I sat alone in the front row of the velvet-draped theater, staring at the digital auction board above the stage. I wore a plain black suit, my tie loosened, my hollow eyes dark and sunken. I hadn't slept in three days. My hands rested in my lap, unmoving, cold, and heavy as lead."Mr. Cole," Arthur, my chief advisor, whispered frantically from the seat behind me, leaning in so close his voice rattled against my ear. "We have tapped our absol

Elena’s POVThe heavy rain pounded relentlessly against the concrete floor of the underground valet garage, casting long, dark shadows beneath the flickering overhead fluorescent lights. The sharp scent of damp earth, exhaust fumes, and cold cement hung thick in the stagnant air. I stepped out of the private executive elevator flanked by two Vance Global security guards, holding a dark leather portfolio tightly beneath my arm. We had just finalized the legal acquisition of another key urban real estate tract from Cole Enterprises, systematically severing yet another major revenue stream from Damien's rapidly shrinking domain. As we crossed the wide bay toward the waiting armored sedan, a sudden, ragged scream shattered the quiet hum of the garage."You dirty, scheming little rat!"A disheveled figure scrambled out from behind a massive concrete support pillar, lunging wildly toward me with frantic, uncoordinated strides. She was virtually unrecognizable at first glance—her filthy desi

  • My Husband Chose His Ex When I Was pregnant   Chapter 64

Elena’s POVThe early morning fog hung thick and heavy over the jagged coastal cliffs, wrapping the dark grey ocean far below in a blanket of absolute, unbroken silence. The damp coastal wind carried the sharp, salt-heavy scent of the sea, biting aggressively against my skin, but I welcomed the icy chill. The cold kept my mind clear, sharp, and focused on the work that lay ahead.I stood near the sheer edge of the cliff, fifty yards past the fortified perimeter security gates of Alistair’s private grounds. Tucked away in a quiet, shaded grove beneath three ancient pine trees sat a small, polished white marble stone. It bore no dates, no elaborate family crest, and no prominent last name. Engraved across the pristine, unblemished surface were just two simple, elegant words: Little One.Alistair had built this private memorial for me three months ago, giving me a secluded sanctuary to visit whenever the heavy weight of my new life grew too difficult to bear in silence.I stepped up to t
