Reid shuts down his system much earlier than usual, the earlier news he had gotten from Aaron Lawson and the audio he’d listened to has put him in a mood and he just can’t bring himself to do any work anymore, he’s been sitting there, staring into space for the past hour, wondering where and how things went so wrong under his nose.

Normally, he’d head straight for Raees’s place and pick her up and together slip into the rhythm of their evening together, but tonight, there’s a pressure on his chest that won’t let him go home just yet, he has something else he’d love to do.

The clock gives him enough space, and his mind, restless and raw after Lawson’s revelation, pushes him toward the one place that has always taken him as he is, no masks, no careful edges and there he does not have to pretend and he can say everything he absolutely wants to.

On his way out, he stops by a small corner florist, the kind that smells faintly of damp soil and fading blooms. He doesn’t think long before cho

  • Seducing My Husband's Arch-enemy!   The Mastermind.

The drive is suffocating.Reid’s knuckles whiten on the steering wheel as he glances into the rearview mirror every few seconds. Rowland’s car is right behind him, headlights steadily following his, shadowing his every turn like a ghost he can’t shake, except he is the one who told this particular ghost to come after him.Reid has half a mind to lose him in traffic, to slam the accelerator and speed off somewhere into the night, and end this charade before it began, but curiosity claws at him much harder than anger does. The man had been at his parents’ grave. He’d been crying, begging profusely for forgiveness. Reid doesn’t know what to do with that image in his head, doesn’t want to. He only knows that something about Rowland’s voice when he asked for “a chance to explain” still buzzes in his skull, and as much as he’s not willing to let go of his hatred for the man, he’s stuck between listening to his head and heart. He shoots a quick text to Raees before he pockets the phone. No d

  • Seducing My Husband's Arch-enemy!   Furniture in the Safe House

The safe house was way too quiet now that most people aren’t there anymore. Rina has gone back to work while Cecelia recovers fully away from the eyes of the world, but as she stays here all alone, she’s terribly bored, and her only company is not much of a ‘company’.She sat curled on the edge of the sofa, knees drawn up, her chin propped on one hand as she stared at the muted TV screen that displayed nothing but the idle home menu. She had tried flipping through the channels earlier, but every sitcom laughing track grated on her nerves, every news report felt too close to reality, and the silence between channels was worse than both, so she opted for one that showed appetizing food at least, to distract herself.Abel hadn’t moved in almost, if not over, an hour. He’d come and go, but now, he just planted himself by the door like a sentinel, one broad shoulder leaning against the wall, arms folded across his chest, eyes set on the space in front of him.Not a phone in sight on him,

  • Seducing My Husband's Arch-enemy!   Mum and Dad

Melissa doesn’t say much at first. She just comes to sit beside Raees on the couch, her hands folded neatly in her lap. The closeness is enough to bring back the old ache in Raees’s chest, the ache of knowing she had been too sharp the last time she was here, that her anger hadn’t just cut at her father but had left marks on her mother too, even if she had not meant that one to happen. So yes, Melissa also deserves her apology.Raees reaches across, taking her mother’s thin hand in her own. “I’m sorry, Mum,” she whispers, and her voice trembles more than she wants it to. “I didn’t mean to… to come off like I don’t care about you. I do, Mom, more than anything. I shouldn’t have gone off on you and Dad the way I did, I’m sorry. I love you.”Melissa’s lips curve faintly, though her eyes look gentler. “I know you do. I’ve never doubted that, Raees, not even when your words sting.” Her thumb brushes lightly over her daughter’s knuckles, a small gesture that has always calmed Raees since sh

Raees stares at her phone for longer than she should, while trying to decipher if there are other words behind the message, but she sees nothing, except something. She reads Reid’s message twice, then a third time.“I had an unexpected meeting. I might be a little bit late, love you.”The words are too vague for comfort, and Reid isn’t vague unless the truth itself is something too thick to type. A knot coils in her chest, tightening with each second of silence that follows, she wonders if she should call him or something but eventually decides against it. If she’s in a meeting, she would not like getting disturbed either. She sets the phone down, pushing away from her desk with a tired sigh. Her secretary looks up from the outer office as she steps out.“Heading home, ma’am? Is Mr. Caddel around?” Evelyn asks, rising up from the chair, “That’s odd, he’d usually come up.”“I am headed home, and no, he’s not picking me up today,” Raees answers with a knowing smile, then pauses. The tho

The gravel shifts beneath his steps as Reid moves closer, giving up on the earlier plan of simply leaving, his jaw tightening with each step he takes towards the head stones. He doesn’t want to invade the grief of a stranger, doesn’t want to make this cemetery about more than the dead already buried here, but he can’t let it go.These are his parents, his only place of communion with them, and no intruder has a right to weep on their names, especially one who seems to have offended them so bad.The figure finally lifts his head at the sound of Reid’s approach, and in the sliver of dying light, Reid sees the tear streaked face as the man turns to look up at him, their eyes meeting and the flicker of recognition crossing their faces at the same time.Rowland Flanagan. The world lurches sideways for Reid.He stops dead, the bouquet tumbling to the ground, the pearl white petals scattering across the dirt as the biggest chunk of them lands on the tomb stones. His hand tightens around the
