Through the Phone

When she fell asleep on the call, exhausted, I knew it, and I chuckled.

I check the time on the wall and chuckle, she really did stay up a long time. But something else bothers me.

She’s alone in that big place.

All the other staffs, as I learnt when I was over, stayed in another building within the large compound but still, a yell might not be enough to call them over in an emergency, and though there is security working in shifts by the gate and entrances to the compound, they are still quite far away, so simply enough, she’s the only one at home, and sleeping.

For that reason, I decide to not hang up, it’s morning over here and the day has begun so I just leave my earbuds in while I get some morning work done while muting myself so none of my conversations here will wake her up.

When the first suspicious sound reached me two hours later, my ears snap up, turning up the volume to hear better, maybe I am just being paranoid.
