WHY? WHO?

last update Last Updated: 2025-09-14 23:49:38

The groan comes again, and it comes out sounding very weak and muffled, like it’s fighting through the layers of rust, as it possibly could.

Reid freezes in place just as the others pause in their tracks as well, his head whipping toward the sound. Raees grips his sleeve unconsciously, her own breath caught in her throat at the obvious sound. Abel signals them down low with a hand gesture, his voice a low whisper.

“Keep quiet. That could very well be her… or it could be bait to lure us in.”

The beam of his flashlight sweeps across the hollow space, sliding over broken pipes and stacks of old crates. The groaning grows clearer the closer they move into the wide space, until there’s no mistaking it.

Someone is in there with them and that person is struggling, and needs help.

Raees’s pulse thrums painfully in her ears, wanting to just dash forward and help the woman in obvious discomfort. She presses the heel of her hand against her chest as if that will steady her racing heart. “That’s

  • Seducing My Husband's Arch-enemy!   Smokes, Mirrors and Whiskey.

The private dining room is dim this late afternoon, the air heavy in a subtle way, with cigar smoke that clings to the velvety curtains and the comfortable, plush leather seats arranged around the table. Crystal glasses clink again and again as waiters pour a vintage whiskey that none of the men here actually care about. They’ve all gathered together, anyway, for something much stronger than liquor, and they don’t even need to be drunk, the purpose is enough to make them feel quite high.Nathaniel Brooks leans back in his chair, his jaw tight as he looked around the guests around him, one hand tapping impatiently against the polished mahogany table. He’s the first to speak, his voice low and bitter, but sharp enough to cut through the alcoholic and ‘greeting one another’ haze.“Reid Flanagan or Caddel, whatever he chooses to call himself,” he spits the name out of his mouth like it tastes wrong, “has to go from the company. The boy thinks he can walk into a room full of elders like me

  • Seducing My Husband's Arch-enemy!   Redhead Graham.

Rowland swirls the last of the whiskey in his glass but doesn’t drink it, choosing to use the movement to take a moment to think. His hands stay right on his glass while staring at Alec like he’s waiting for the man to blink, to flinch, to give him anything, but Alec remains maddeningly calm. Finally, Alec breaks the silence himself, rolling his eyes in half disdain.“While you waste energy pointing fingers,” Alec says smoothly, sitting up, “my men are working where it matters. Sky, your nephew’s empire, cracks open faster than I expected. We’ve found allies who want him toppled, people with personal grudges as deep as ours, the kind of grudges that can fuel entire wars, we might not even have to do much.”Rowland narrows his eyes. “Grudges don’t win wars. Action does. You can gather as many allies as you want, but without Daniel, wait,” he sets down the glass while his eyes are still sharp and suspiciously watching Alec like a bat. “You’re talking about allies like they’re falling

  • Seducing My Husband's Arch-enemy!   Did You... or Did you Not?

The bar is dimly lit, the same as the last time they met, the same old jazzy tune as two weeks ago rasping out of those overhead speakers. Rowland sits at a corner booth, shoulders hunched and a tumbler of whiskey clutched in one hand. His eyes dart toward the door every time it opens, and the sunshine from outside momentarily illuminates the doorway, until finally Alec Steele walks in, calm as ever, his collar turned up, his confidence unbothered by the less than up to par place.“You called me out today,” Alec says smoothly as he slides into the booth across from him. He doesn’t order a drink, at least not immediately as he doesn’t need to, he won't be staying long. His presence alone in there is enough to cut through the smoke and alcohol filled air.Rowland doesn’t waste time although, setting down the whiskey glass in his hand. “Where is he? You said you'll find him, it's been three weeks since I heard anything from you.”Alec tilts his head, feigning ignorance as to who. “You’l

  • Seducing My Husband's Arch-enemy!   The Enemy

The hush hits the room like a physical thing, and for a beat the monitor’s beep seems too loud in the ward. That one, has come as an actual shock to them, if there is anything they anticipated, it is knowing who their enemy is, but now that same enemy has the person who’s been missing for almost a month now, and sadly enough, they had forgotten about him, only for him to suddenly resurface now.“Daniel?” Reid asks slowly, like he’s checking that he heard right. “He—what did he say about Daniel?”“Damn, we completely forgot about him.” Raees mutters, looking at Reid.Cecelia blinks, focusing on the two faces above her like she’s holding a fragile map between them. Her voice is soft, as she responds. “He said… he said, ‘Don’t you want to meet your friend, Daniel Flanagan, before you know who I am?’” The words tumble out. “He said it as he walked away. He even laughed right after he said it. He wanted me to know Daniel is in his hands.”Raees feels something in her chest shift. “He said

  • Seducing My Husband's Arch-enemy!   At the Hospital

The steady beep of a monitor fills the hospital room, a sound so persistent it becomes the rhythm of the air, and it's the first pointer that she's finally come back into consciousness after her incessant fainting and eventual hospital admission. Cecelia stirs softly, her eyelids twitching as she wrestles her way back to full consciousness. The light above her is a very harsh white, and too annoying in the way it blinds her and for a second, she doesn’t know if she’s dreaming or actually, really awake.Raees is the first to notice that she's moving. She straightens in her chair, her heart leaping to her throat as Cecelia’s lashes flutter open, her eyes dilating as she adjusts to the lights. “Cecelia?” Her voice is tentative, careful, like if she speaks too loudly, the moment might shatter.Cecelia blinks slowly, her gaze hazy and unfocused, then lands weakly on Raees. Her lips part, but nothing comes out but a harsh rasp.“Easy,” Raees says quickly, fumbling for the cup of water on

  • Seducing My Husband's Arch-enemy!   Bait.

Daniel sits slouched against the damp floor, his feet pulled up to his chin in the light, seeable darkness, staring at the same water stain on the ceiling he has memorized a hundred times over. The door creaks open, but he doesn’t flinch anymore, as he now finds them terribly boring. The footsteps are all too familiar now, the rhythm too casual and nothing in them excited him anymore, and now he's tired of being a lockup, maybe he'd prefer being on the run, at least his life would have a bit more fun.His captor steps inside without his usual theatrics, no mask, no effort to disguise himself, just the plain, smug face Daniel has come to dread having to see.“You look bored,” the man remarks, closing the door behind him with a click, plunging then back into the darkness.Daniel looks at the fading sliver of light till it disappears fully, feeling a random pang of boredom and missing his freedom.Daniel doesn’t answer the man right away either, just lets his gaze drop from the ceiling
