My Husband's April Fool's Joke Came True

It wasn't just me who heard what Hubert Lock said.

His parents heard them too.

Laidman Lock immediately raised a hand and smacked Hubert lightly on the arm, irritation creeping into his voice.

"What kind of nonsense are you talking about? Who jokes with their wife like that?"

Michelle Lock quickly patted the back of my hand and comforted me softly.

"Crystal, don't take it to heart. It's April Fools' Day, isn't it? Hubert was just being thoughtless and making a joke."

I smiled and nodded at her.

"I know, Mom. Hubert isn't that kind of person."

But the truth was, all four of us knew it wasn't a joke.

And it wasn't the first time Hubert cheated.

The first time I discovered his affair, I completely lost control.

I cried, screamed, smashed everything in the house, and demanded an explanation.

But he went from guilty and ashamed in the beginning to cold and dismissive.

"Crystal, ours was an arranged marriage. The Shaw family isn't what it used to be, and your mother's still in the hospital. Without me, who do you think would be paying her medical bills?

"If you keep making a scene, the consequences won't be something you can afford."

Because of those words, no matter how many scandals he caused with other women, no matter how widely the rumors spread, I was always the one who quietly stepped in to clean up the mess.

Then I devoted myself entirely to the family and gave birth to his first son.

Over time, I became known as the perfect wife and daughter-in-law.

So, when Hubert used an April Fools' joke to openly bring his latest affair into the light, I wasn't surprised at all.

I simply lowered my gaze and counted silently in my head.

This marked the thirtieth.

In the eight years we had been married, I dealt with twenty-nine affairs for him.

This was the thirtieth.

Just then, the system's voice echoed in my mind.

Seven years ago, on the day I first discovered Hubert's affair, that voice suddenly appeared in my mind.

It told me that it was called the Lies Come True System.

As long as I completed its tasks, I would earn the right to make lies come true.

Over the years, it wasn't as if Hubert had never told me lies he genuinely believed.

But back then, I just gave birth and hadn't yet secured my place within the Lock family.

Losing Hubert would have brought no benefit to either me or my child.

Things were different now.

My son had grown older, and my in-laws had long since come to see me as their own daughter, trusting me completely.
