Chapter 4

Author: Inky Tea
Unfortunately, I pushed beyond my limits and lost the baby.

I was afraid of hurting Harry, so I never told him the truth. I just said it was a stomach problem and bore the grief of losing our child alone.

Looking back now, it was my mistake to trust him.

Claire proudly rubbed her belly and looked at me.

“You saw how Harry listens to me now. As long as you agree to get me some seafood, I’ll approve your resignations immediately.

“Following the normal process would take at least a month. You wouldn’t want to spend an entire month carrying out janitorial work, would you?”

I accepted her offer. “Fine. I’ll do it.”

The core members of my team immediately had tears in their eyes.

Wayne grabbed my arm. “Ms. Wesley, don’t do it! They’re clearly trying to humiliate you!”

“Exactly!” Zach slammed his fist on the table. “They can try to make things difficult for us, but how can Mr. Forger treat you this way? It’s completely unfair. Don’t back down. At worst, it’s just a month of janitorial work!”

I shook my head.

“It’s fine. Consider it the final favor I do for this company.”

Four hours later, I was drenched from the rain. I returned to the villa with the seafood I’d bought, and I looked awful.

Claire was sitting on Harry’s lap in the living room.

Seeing me, she deliberately said, “Harry, look! She really went to get the seafood!”

Harry’s tense expression softened when he saw me. He reached for the takeout box.

“That's smart of you. Since you've brought it back, stay and eat with us.”

I ignored him and headed straight upstairs.

Harry’s displeased voice came from behind. “Anna, I’m talking to you!”

I opened the bedroom door and found that the room had been completely transformed. None of my things remained.

Winnie, our housekeeper, stood awkwardly in the corner with a box.

“Madam, Ms. Yates said she wants to stay in the master bedroom today, so we moved all your things to the garage.”

She trembled as she opened the box and revealed a broken watch inside.

“Ms. Yates smashed many of your precious belongings and threw them in the trash. I knew how much this watch meant to you, so I secretly retrieved it.”

I looked at it, and my eyes filled with tears.

That watch was a gift from Harry when we made our first major profit from the company. He had crossed the city in a blizzard to buy it for me.

That day, he was soaked and had scraped his knees, yet he smiled and said, “Anna, every year, I’ll get you something better. I will always love you.”

Later, things had gotten too busy in the company, and he had never gotten me anything else.

However, I had always cherished the sentiment behind that first gift.

“Thank you, Winnie,” I said before taking the watch and heading downstairs.

Harry’s expression instantly darkened when he saw me. “What are you doing?”

“I’m here to say goodbye.” I placed the broken watch in front of him.

“You can have this watch back. I’m giving back everything you ever gave me.”

“Anna!” He saw the broken watch and grabbed my wrist furiously.

“How dare you leave? Do you even know how many times I fell just to get this for you?!

“Even if I wronged you, how could you destroy it?” He asked through clenched jaws.

I looked past him to Claire.

“This was destroyed by your lover.”

Claire immediately teared up and whimpered.

“Anna, I know you’re mad I stole Harry from you, but you’re divorced now. Can you please just let me off the hook? Don’t falsely accuse me of doing it.”

“Falsely accuse you?” My gaze turned cold. “Why don't we ask Winnie who did it?”

Harry looked up abruptly. There was surprise and fear in his eyes.“They died from heart attacks.”I traced the faint mark on my ring finger. “And now you say you’re sorry?”There were camera flashes all around.Everyone saw the new CEO of Hansen Group lean down and speak to the kneeling man. The once dominant figure in the business world curled up like a frightened child.“That's impossible,” Harry muttered while shaking his head profusely. “How could I do something like that?!”I ignored him and turned toward the cheering crowd. I could hear his desperate screams from behind me. "Anna! Please look at me!"I didn’t stop. The champagne tower at Hansen Group’s gala lit up Malroy City's skyline. Just then, an assistant rushed over. “Mr. Forger has cut his wrist in the parking lot!”The stem of the wine glass cracked in my hand, and blood dripped down my fingers. It felt eerily warm and reminded me of the moment my parents had fallen from the drop tower ride in my previous lifeti

Harry bent forward and picked up Claire’s phone. The screen still showed 'Call in Progress'.Claire suddenly grabbed a vase and hurled it at him. “Go to hell! If you weren’t rich, I’d never have wasted my time pretending to love you!”Harry tilted his head just in time to dodge. The vase shattered against the wall and broke into shards. He grabbed Claire by the throat and slammed her against the floor-to-ceiling window. The wind howled outside and rattled the glass.“Whose baby is it?” he asked softly in her ear.Claire’s pupils contracted. “O-Of course it's yours!”Harry suddenly laughed and slapped her hard across the face.He then let go as she collapsed to the floor.“Still lying?”Claire spat in his face. “You piece of trash! If you weren’t rich, I wouldn’t have bothered going anywhere near you."You’re a worthless, infertile loser. How could you ever have a kid?“Your ex-wife actually carried your baby, didn’t she? “Harry, you have no idea. Ms. Wesley’s team was nothing but useless trash!”Claire realized things were getting out of hand, but no matter how she tried to stop them, those college students kept badmouthing me and my entire team.Harry’s gaze grew colder by the second, and he tapped lightly on the desk. The sound sent chills down Claire's spine.“Are you done talking?” He suddenly asked. His voice was barely above a whisper, but it made the whole office fall dead silent, and the college students finally noticed the terrifying look in his eyes.“Security,” Harry said into the intercom. “Throw every one of them out. From this day on, none of them is allowed to set foot in Forger Tower.”“Harry!” Claire shrieked and tried to stop him. “They’re my friends! You can’t just fire them without paying their salaries!”He pushed her hand away. “Salaries? I should be asking them for damages.”He pointed at the graffiti-covered project proposals scattered across the floor. “Open your eyes,

"What?!"Harry suddenly recalled the calls from the HR Department over the past two days, and his face turned pale.“Harry!” Claire poked her head out of the consultation room. “The doctor said the baby misses you!”But Harry didn’t have time to respond as his phone rang again. The CFO’s panicked voice came through.“Mr. Forger! Ten of our core clients just terminated their contracts all at once! They said our projects are garbage, and that the people in charge are a bunch of college dropouts who don’t know what they’re doing and even doodled all over the project reports!“They said they can’t work with us anymore. The estimated penalty is 120 billion!”Harry’s phone slipped from his hand and hit the floor with a clack. He turned his head mechanically toward Claire, who was still smiling innocently.“What’s wrong, Harry?” she asked softly. “I’m starving.
