TAYLOR MACKENZIE

"Oh no," I whispered. Emy dropped the tray of steaming food she held on the table and walked back to the kitchen, totally ignoring me. Tears filled my eyes, this was bad. I hurriedly knelt down, parking the glass particles when I got cut.

"Oh my God!" I heard the girl exclaim and stand to her feet, her eyes were wide with concern as she immediately reached out to me, her voice soft and kind. "Are you alright?" she asked gently, her hand grasping my trembling fingers.

"I..I.." I stammered and looked at Mr. Donovan who's stern expression remained unmoved as he regarded me with cold detachment.

"Careless," he muttered under his breath, his disapproval palpable. "As always."

"I'm sorry, I... I'm sorry," I begged, wondering what he'd do to me next.

The girl helped me up, a soft smile playing on her lips. "It was an accident, we all saw it. I'm Olivia by the way. That's my brother, Diego," she introduced but since I was aware the Diego of a guy had been staring at me since I got into this place, I didn't look at him.

After helping me up, Olivia turned to her father, concern etched on her face. "Father, who is she?" she inquired, her voice tinged with curiosity.

Donovan's gaze flickered to me briefly before he replied, "She's our new servant."

I lowered my head, more like his sex toy disguised as a servant girl.

"Why such a young girl?" Olivia pressed further, her brow furrowing with confusion.

"It's not your concern," Donovan replied curtly, his tone brooking no argument.

"Are you serious? Since when did we pick young people for the business?" She asked.

"What business?" I didn't know when the question came out. However, the look Donovan gave me made me shut my mouth.

"I said it before, It's not your concern, Olivia. Stay away," he said icily.

"Dad!" Olivia walked over to his side. I could sense the tension in the room thickening. However, by accident, I looked at Diego. He was still watching me intently, his eyes narrowing slightly as if assessing the situation.

"Why exactly is she here?" He asked, speaking for the first time. His voice was deep, manly and just perfect, it matched his features which the dim light seemed to prevent me from beholding.

"We're here to have dinner and spend time together as your mother's memorial service is in two weeks, let's not quarrels over irrelevant things."

"But this isn't irrelevant-" Olivia pressed on.

Suddenly, Donovan slammed his fist on the table, startling I and Olivia but Diego didn't flinch. "I said, drop it!"

Olivia's shoulders slumped in defeat, my death was coming soon because Donovan would surely kill me for causing trouble during his family dinner.

"Now sit, and you-" he pointed at me. "Get out!"

"Let her go!" Diego said with a firm voice that cut through the order of his father. "She doesn't look like the women you bring over," he said, his tone unwavering.

Donovan's expression darkened, his jaw clenching with frustration. "Diego, she's here to serve us," he retorted sharply, his voice laced with authority.

"Why does that sound different?" Diego's gaze hardened as he stood to his feet. "She's bruised," he pointed out firmly.

"Not your problem."

Diego gently placed both hands on the table, looking directly into his father's eyes. "I said, let her go," his voice was calm but there was something about him I couldn't put into place. Donovan seemed shaken by him, who exactly was Diego Salvatore.

Donovan features tightened with displeasure. "I decide what happens under my roof," he stated coldly, his resolve unyielding.

A grin appeared on Diego's face and I didn't understand why, however it was replaced almost immediately by a look of anger mixed with something I couldn't place. "If that's the case, I hope you enjoy your food."

He then pushed his chair back abruptly and strode out of the dining room, his footsteps echoing faintly in the silence that followed.

I was so lost in watching him leave that I didn't realize when Donovan grabbed me from behind and pressed a table knife against my neck, the cold metal sending a shiver down my spine.

Olivia gasped, her eyes wide with shock. "Dad! Stop this!"

Her voice cause Diego to stop and face me. His features darkened more, anger building up within him. He rested on the door, both hands buried into his pockets as he watched with a stoic expression.

"What are you going to do now?" He asked.

"You're staying for dinner Diego else I'll slit her throat, you know I will."

Normally, I would have bet he wouldn't, but when the knife cut a thin line along my neck followed by a sharp sting, I swore he would do it.

I winced as blood trickled down, Donovan would kill me. Tears filled my eyes as I watched Diego, his fist clenched by his sides.

"Alright," he said, his voice relaxed. "I'll stay, leave her."

Donovan hesitated before taking the knife off my neck. However, before I could steady myself, a sharp pain exploded in the back of my head and just immediately, my vision faded. I could see Olivia running towards me until I collasped onto the ground, darkness covering my vision.

TAYLOR MACKENZIESix months had passed since I had left my old life behind. I had settled into a new routine, working as a waitress at a small restaurant in a quiet town. It was a simple life, but it was one I enjoyed. As I finished my shift and walked home, I felt a sense of contentment wash over me. I had found a small apartment, cozy and comfortable, and I spent my free time reading, watching movies, and exploring the town. When I arrived home, I headed straight for the bathroom, where I ran a hot bath and soaked my tired muscles. I closed my eyes, letting the warmth seep into my bones. After my bath, I wrapped myself in a soft towel and padded into my bedroom. I climbed onto my bed, feeling the softness of the mattress envelop me. I thought of my kids and reached into my nightstand drawer and pulled out a phone, one that had only one number programmed into it.I smiled as I dialed the number, my heart skipping a beat as I waited for the call to connect. When Samantha's voice cam

TAYLOR MACKENZIE I was done arranging Taylor's and Asher's bag, but all through it, I didn't miss how Jayden kept stealing glances at me. "If there's something you wanna say, just say it." Jayden exhaled. "I'm sorry." "Is that it?" I faced him. "I mean, I left you all these months and just when I showed up, I bring trouble with me." "Tell me something, Jayden. Where is Mark?" I asked. "Mark.. he's in the hospital. Gerald was responsible for the attack that night. Mark might meet a coma, or worse and the crazy part is, Armando had guarded the hospital round, no one can go in, not even me. I tried sneaking when I was caught and forced to come here. I'm sorry I led him to you." I nodded, Mark might meet a coma. At this point, I was so done with relationships, it wasn't meant for me. "What are his chances of survival?" I asked. "I don't want to make promises so I don't know, I just know he's unresponsive." I fought the tears that almost left my eyes, I wouldn't cry anymore

  • My Lover's Choice. A fight for love and redemption.    All Alone 122

TAYLOR MACKENZIEThis was my reality. Four months had passed already and I spent it training, building myself up. On several occasions I tried the password for the house security and I always got it wrong, I wondered what Jayden put there. Taylor was now walking and followed me around the house, unfortunately she and her brother had to learn the hard way. I couldn't believe I had already spent four months here, only the heavens knew how much I was trying not to loose my sanity. Like a game, a year passed by and Taylor was celebrating her second birthday after Asher turned three. I would have swore that I was surprised we didn't run out of food until I noticed everything was restocked by heaven knows who. I had tried to catch who it was but I always missed, I just came out to a full house, whoever was doing the restock was definitely smarter than I was. I sat quietly on the couch, watching a cartoon show with Asher and Taylor when I heard a sound coming from the basement. I immediat

Mark really did everything to keep us safe. I got down and carried sleeping Asher while Jayden carried Taylor inside. "You need to rest," Jayden said from the door after we put the kids to sleep. "I will.""Take care, I'll leave now.""What?" I turned to him. "You can't leave us here."He smiled. "This house is very protected and-""Enough! I'm tired of listening to all these. Nowhere is safe, if they want to get me, they will.""I doubt, this is Mark's project, no one can penetrate it. However, if anything happens, all you have to do is alter the security system of the building, it'll definitely find whoever is trying to get in.""And what happens when they get found?" I asked."Tased to unconsciousness, it just happens. The only people permitted to be here are, Mark, I, you and the kids. That's how it is."I nodded.

The car slowed to a stop, and I saw a familiar figure climb out—Jayden. Relief flooded through me. “Jayden!” I shouted, scrambling to my feet.“Taylor!” he called back, rushing towards me. Immediately we got close to each other, I collapsed into his arms, and sobbed against him. “Mark needs help! He’s still out there!” Jayden pulled back slightly, concern etched on his face. “I know,” he said, his tone urgent but calming. “I sent my men over there. They’re searching for him now.” “Please, we have to hurry! He could be in danger!” I cried, my voice trembling with desperation. “Let’s get you and the kids safe first,” Jayden said gently, he helped me carry the kids to the car and guided me towards the it. “We’ll figure this out together.” He helped me into the back seat, and as he got in and started the engine, I took a shaky breath. “How did you find me?” I asked, confusion mixing with my relief.“Mark put a GPS tracker in your hair band," Jayden replied, glancing at me in the rear
