Mag-log inAiden had always done this. Back when they were married, when she was still his Luna and before everything between them had fallen apart, he had somehow managed to use her shampoo almost every time he took a bath. At first, Amelia had simply complained about it, patiently explaining that shampoo was meant for hair and body wash was meant for the body. She had assumed he would eventually remember. He never did. After catching him doing it repeatedly, Amelia had eventually lost her patience. She remembered one particular morning when she had stood in the bathroom with her arms crossed, glaring at him while he casually washed himself with her expensive shampoo. She had finally grabbed a huge piece of paper, written HAIR SHAMPOO across it in the biggest letters she could possibly manage, and taped it directly onto the bottle. She had stood back afterward, hands on her hips, looking incredibly pleased with herself. There was absolutely no way he could misunderstand it this time
“I… used the soap I saw there,” Aiden muttered, staring at Amelia with genuine confusion. He honestly couldn’t understand why she was making such a big deal out of it. His brows furrowed slightly as he glanced toward the bathroom, as though the bottle itself were responsible for his mistake. “How was I supposed to know? The bottle was in the bathroom.” “It says SHAMPOO!” Amelia exclaimed, staring at him in disbelief. “I wasn’t exactly studying the bottle,” Aiden replied casually. Amelia’s mouth fell open. She stared at him for several seconds, completely speechless, before finally finding her voice. “You weren’t studying it?” Aiden shrugged, looking entirely unbothered by her disbelief. “I just picked it up and used it.” Amelia dragged a hand down her face and released a long, frustrated sigh. There was something about Aiden’s expression that made it almost impossible for her to remain angry with him. He genuinely looked confused, as if he couldn’t understand what crime
Aiden’s jaw tightened. He couldn’t tell her yet. Not until he knew who was responsible. Not until he knew where Damien was. And, most importantly, not until he was certain that telling Amelia wouldn’t trigger the unstable power inside her. He exhaled heavily and sat down on the couch. His eyes landed on the books arranged on the table. Curious, he picked one up and flipped through it. It was a storybook. Aiden leaned back against the couch and began reading. After a while, he found himself humming quietly under his breath. The couch was surprisingly comfortable, and the room carried a faint scent that reminded him of Amelia. For the first time in a long while, he felt strangely at peace. He eventually closed the book and placed it back on the table. “This is ridiculous,” he muttered. He stood and began pacing around the room, glancing at his clothes every few minutes as though staring at them would somehow make them dry faster. He eventually dropped back on
Aiden felt his heart squeeze with guilt at the thought of keeping the truth from Amelia. She had no idea that Damien had been kidnapped, and here she was, casually asking him to wear Damien’s clothes as though nothing had happened. The thought made the guilt settle even deeper in his chest, but he forced himself to push it aside for now. He gave Amelia a small smile and nodded. “All right.” He watched her disappear into the kitchen before standing near the dining area for a moment, his mind still occupied with everything that had happened. Eventually, he decided to go upstairs and find the guest room. Once he reached the upper hallway, Aiden slowed down. He looked at each door, trying to figure out which one belonged to the guest room. He didn’t want to open the wrong door and accidentally walk into someone else’s bedroom, especially knowing that Seraphina, Gloria and the others lived in the house. He continued down the hallway until his eyes landed on a familiar door. Ame
The moment her eyes opened, she immediately felt something strange. Her body was unusually warm, and there was a familiar pull in her chest that made her heart beat faster. She remained still for a few seconds, staring at the ceiling while trying to understand the sensation. Her mate. She could feel him. Amelia swallowed hard. “Why am I feeling him so strongly?” she wondered. Perhaps she was simply thinking about Aiden too much. After everything that had happened between them the previous day, maybe her mind was playing tricks on her. She pushed the thought away and got out of bed. After brushing her teeth and taking a shower, Amelia returned to her room and changed into a simple pair of trousers and a comfortable top. She pulled her hair into a ponytail, glanced at herself briefly in the mirror and then headed downstairs. She wanted to prepare breakfast before everyone woke up. Yet the strange feeling refused to disappear. With every step she took downstairs,
Meanwhile, Aiden’s car came to a slow stop in front of Amelia’s house. He switched off the engine and remained behind the steering wheel for a moment, staring at the dark mansion ahead of him. The entire house appeared to be asleep, with only the faint glow of moonlight falling across the windows. He finally stepped out of the car, closed the door quietly behind him and walked toward the front entrance. He knocked softly. Nothing. Aiden waited for several seconds before knocking again, this time a little louder. Still, there was no response. He glanced at his watch and frowned when he realized it was almost midnight. “They must be asleep,” he murmured to himself. He stepped away from the door and lifted his head toward the upper floor. His eyes settled on Amelia’s window. The room was completely dark, which confirmed that she was probably already asleep. Aiden stood there for a moment, his shoulders gradually relaxing as he closed his eyes and focused on his surroun
Velaris PackThe entrance door creaked open and Seraphina stepped in, her clothes wrinkled, her hair messy, her face pale with worry.“Seraphina,” Damien called immediately, striding toward her. He caught her by the arm before she could stumble and guided her to a chair.“What’s wrong?” his voice w
By morning, the news of Cassia’s apartment burning had spread through the pack like wildfire.Inside her hospital ward, Aiden stood silently, his shoulders tense, his eyes fixed on her unconscious form. Her chest rose and fell in shallow rhythm, lashes resting like shadows against her pale cheeks.
Meanwhile, Aiden and James walked back into the mansion, arms loaded with shopping bags. The house was eerily silent…too silent.Even the maids were nowhere in sight.Aiden frowned. Strange. This house has never been this quiet. But before he could dwell on it, a shrill scream tore through the stil
