Chapter 20

Author: Peachy
Byron’s POV

I sat in the car, watching the time on my phone.

Two hours and forty-five minutes.

That's how long I had left of Ariana's three-hour deadline.

But I couldn't leave right away.

First, I had to put my house in order.

If I just went to Blackrock Abyss, I likely wouldn't be coming back.

And once I was dead, the Blackwood Pack would be left without a leader, and civil war would erupt immediately.

I would not let my pack bleed for my mistakes.

I opened a mind-link to my Beta.

"Alpha? What's your decision?"

"Gather all the elders. Immediately," my voice was calm and resolute. "Emergency meeting. Start now."

"Yes, Alpha!"

Twenty minutes later, the twelve elders were once again gathered in the council hall.

They looked at my pale face and trembling hands, their eyes full of concern.

"Alpha, your health—" the head elder began.

"My health doesn't matter," I cut him off. "What matters is the future of the Blackwood Pack."

I stood before them and spoke in the most commanding voice I cou

  • My Mate Chose Her Over Our Pup   Chapter 28

Sandra’s POVThree months later. In the grand temple of the Silver Moon pack, thousands of representatives from every pack were gathered.Today was my mating ceremony with Elias. This wasn't a union of politics or power. It was a union forged in fire, built on trust, and sealed with a love that had waited patiently in the wings. My mother is awake now, the last traces of the 'curse' purged by my bloodline's power. Liam's wounds are fully healed; not even a scar remains.I stood before the statue of the Moon Goddess in a pure white gown.Elias stood beside me in a formal black suit. There was no possessiveness in his eyes, no desire for conquest, only pure love and commitment."Sandra Moonridge," the shaman declared in the ancient ritual tongue, "do you take this man, Elias Blackridge, as your mate, your King, and your equal?""I do," my voice was clear and firm."Elias Blackridge, do you take this woman, Sandra Moonridge, as your mate, your Queen, and your partner, to stand by her sid

  • My Mate Chose Her Over Our Pup   Chapter 27

Sandra’s POVOne Year Later.I was processing reports from various packs. After defeating the northern rebels and revealing my Ancestor's Bloodline, my father had handed leadership of the pack to me.I had unified the packs and industries of the central territories, but things were more complicated than I'd imagined.Border disputes, resource allocation, new laws—every decision required my personal approval. But I felt a sense of purpose I had never known before."Your Majesty," a guard's voice came from outside the door. "Lord Elias is here to see you.""Let him in."The door opened and Elias walked in.A year hadn't changed him much. He still carried himself with that same steady strength, but there was a shadow of weariness in his eyes I couldn't quite place."Still working?" He came to my side, frowning at the mountain of documents on my desk. "It's late, Sandra.""The reconstruction report from the Southern Alliance just arrived," I pointed to a file. "They need more medical suppl

  • My Mate Chose Her Over Our Pup   Chapter 26

Sandra’s POVThe dark energy slowly dissipated, and the blood-red sky returned to normal. But everything on the battlefield had changed.Where the ancient altar once stood, there was now only a massive, deep crater. The bottom was empty. No stones, no runes, no trace of anything. The rebel leader was gone.Ariana was gone. And Byron. They had all turned to dust, completely obliterated by that destructive energy. As if they had never existed. The war was over. The remaining forces of the northern rebels quickly scattered after losing their leader. The combined armies of the Silver Moon and Ridge packs had won a decisive victory. But no one cheered. No one celebrated.Eight hundred elite warriors gathered silently around the crater, removing their helmets and bowing their heads. They were paying tribute not to the Alpha who had fallen, but to the wolf who had found his redemption in the end.Even though most of them disliked Byron.Even though they knew he had made unforgivable mistakes.

  • My Mate Chose Her Over Our Pup   Chapter 25

Sandra’s POVThe black crystal in Ariana's hand suddenly erupted with a blinding light. It wasn't ordinary light. It was an ancient, evil curse energy."It's the Tear of Oblivion!" the leader cackled. "Once it shatters, everything for ten miles in every direction will be unmade!"Black energy poured from the crystal like a tidal wave, instantly forming a massive vortex of destruction. The air smelled of death.Rocks began to melt in the face of this power.Even the sky turned a grotesque blood-red."Sandra! Run!" Elias's desperate shout came from the distance. But I knew it was too late. The destructive energy was spreading too fast. Even if we ran at full speed, we couldn't escape the kill zone before it exploded.I closed my eyes, summoning every ounce of my bloodline's power.A silver light erupted from my body, trying to form a protective barrier."Hold!" I snarled through gritted teeth, pouring all my strength into the shield. The power of the Ancestor's Bloodline crashed against

  • My Mate Chose Her Over Our Pup   Chapter 24

Sandra’s POVI walked toward the altar, each step crunching on the sharp rocks. The gunfire behind me had faded, and a strange silence fell over the canyon.Everyone was watching me.Watching me walk to my death."Hahaha!" The rebel leader saw me approaching alone and let out a triumphant laugh. "The little princess of Silver Moon didn't disappoint!"He dragged Byron down from the top of the altar, step by step."You know," his voice echoed through the canyon, "I thought it would take more effort to lure you out. I didn't expect you to take the bait so easily."I kept walking, not responding to his taunts. But my mind was fully extended, carefully sensing every detail of the altar. The power of my bloodline allowed me to "see" the flow of energy inside it.I saw seven critical energy nodes, pulsing like hearts deep within the stone. If I could destroy just three of them, the entire altar would fail."Come on, a little closer," the leader continued to tempt me. "Let me see just how powe

  • My Mate Chose Her Over Our Pup   Chapter 23

Sandra’s POV"Sandra." Elias suddenly appeared at my side, stepping in front of me. "I know what you're thinking. But don't be reckless. We can find another way—""What other way?" I cut him off. "Attack with long-range weapons? Byron would die. Send in a strike team? That altar is surrounded by traps. We'd suffer heavy losses.""That's still better than you going to your death!" Elias's voice was filled with desperation. "Sandra, once you get near that altar, they can drain your bloodline! You'll die, and Byron will die too!"I looked at his anxious eyes, a complex emotion stirring within me.This man, this true protector, was trying to shield me in his own way.But he didn't understand.I wasn't walking down there to save Byron.I was walking down there to end a war."Elias," I gently touched his cheek. "Trust me."Then I turned to my father, who was watching me with the same worried expression."Father, trust me."I looked at Byron on the distant altar. The man I hated with every fi
