Almost Three Months Later

The door to my little café opened with a soft chime, announcing someone’s arrival. Instantly, a familiar and intoxicating scent hit my nose.

It can’t be!

My knees almost gave out, and I nearly dropped the tray with drinks and snacks. Gathering what little courage I had left, I lifted my gaze—and saw him.

He stood there, tense, his fists clenched at his sides, staring at me from under his brow. In his eyes burned raw anger—and a silent promise.

I froze, rooted to the spot, unable to move, just staring back at him wide-eyed. Could it be that he found me? But… why?

Inside me, my wolf went wild—literally clawing at my insides at the sight of her mate. She wanted to leap into his arms and never let go.

Oh no, sweetheart. Not this time. We’ve been through that already—and it didn’t end well. He’s human; he can’t possibly feel the bond as deeply as we do. So what if I was just one more fling? Like she said—“not the first, and definitely not the last.”

"You didn’t take your documents from the office. I came to return them. Personally." Oh, what an honor! Imagine that. I’d been in such a hurry to disappear that I didn’t even think about my personal papers. Honestly, they were the last thing on my mind. That’s why I’m working here now, in this small café—its owner doesn’t care about official paperwork, and getting replacements takes time. He pulls my folder from the back pocket of his jeans and sets it on the table between us. "Ah. I see. Well… thank you. You really shouldn’t have gone to the trouble," I murmur, trying to sound indifferent, though inside everything is trembling. I take my things and just stand there in silence, forcing back the tears burning behind my eyes. Lowering my gaze, I look at my passport. My hands need something to do—anything—so I fidget with the document, not daring to meet Konstantin’s gaze, knowing it’s full of unreadable emotion that will only break me further. Absentmindedly, I flip it open… and f

Only you can give me that unforgettable pleasure.”I stood frozen — my wolf, too, stunned into silence. But the girl didn’t stop there. Playfully sliding off the desk, she knelt before him and reached for his zipper, slowly unfastening it while gazing up at him — but she knew I was watching.“I know what you love, and what you can never refuse,” she purred. “That’s why I’ll be your wife. You didn’t change your mind about marrying me because of that little mouse, did you? She’s not the first, and definitely not the last. I’ll always be here for you. Our wedding is still on, right?”My body went numb as the meaning of her words hit me.How does she know what he likes? How does she know what he can’t resist — unless he never has resisted her?Dana, snap out of it!She’s standing there, completely naked in his presence, wearing his shirt! Maybe… maybe there’s some kind of misunderstanding? He can’t possibly be doing this to me — after everything that happened between us!I was ready to ac

I woke up early in the morning in an unusually good mood. The thought of waiting at home all day, locked within four walls until evening, felt like pure torture. My nerves about the upcoming date were already starting to show. So I decided not to take the day off — instead, I’d head straight to work. Surely, there was plenty to catch up on, and besides, I wanted to help Margarita. And, if I’m being completely honest… I just wanted to see Kos a little sooner. The day promised to be beautiful. The sun was shining softly, the early chill of autumn already noticeable in the air — good thing I grabbed my jacket. The trees were turning golden, and some had already begun to shed their leaves. The scent of damp foliage hung pleasantly around me.Near the office building, I ran into Margarita. We greeted each other warmly.“Oh, Dana! Good morning! You decided to come in today?” she asked, surprisingly friendly.“Good morning, Margarita!” I replied cheerfully. “Yes, I thought I’d help you out.

They bombarded me with endless questions, and I gladly answered most of them. Though there were some things I remained silent about… and some things I’d rather never remember again — the kind that would haunt my nightmares for the rest of my life.“So, what’s the story with the wolf?” Arthur asked curiously.“Well, let’s save that one for next time,” I said, glancing at my parents. “You’ve got more than enough information to process as it is.”Mom had been clutching her heart the entire evening. I definitely wasn’t ready to give her a heart attack by mentioning the bear incident. Dad had already told me that while we were missing, she had a nervous breakdown and tore up half of her beloved garden.“And this Konstantin…” Mom asked cautiously, and I noticed Arthur tense up, “what kind of person is he?”“He’s a good man, my boss. Thanks to him, we were found. It was his idea to follow the river. He came up with all kinds of tools, caught fish for us, made the fire… all that.”The convers

When we finally manage to leave the bedroom, we run into Kid."Hey, little buddy! Sorry you had to witness last night," Kos laughs, "poor, innocent eyes of yours. Your owner just couldn’t resist my charm."My cheeks flare in a deep blush and I nudge him sharply in the ribs. He laughs openly and presses a kiss to my temple. I open the door and let Kid outside. He’s still limping, but he’s holding up well.I step out onto the porch and inhale deeply. It’s so beautiful here, truly. The freshest air, the scent of the forest, wild herbs, the sparkling river. I catch myself thinking that… I’m not in any rush for us to be found. They say “paradise is a hut when you’re with the one you love,” and that’s despite the fact that my guy could afford the most luxurious, elite huts in the world with his money. But I’m more than happy with this old house, far away from people and problems. Here, Konstantin is completely different. Fun, carefree, open — still so much boyishness in him. A whole differe
