In the entrance hall, we took the door that was at the back. It was exactly the one Amanda had stepped out of yesterday when I met her.

A corridor came into my field of vision and it was narrower than the one on the upper floor. There were also some paintings hanging here. Presumably, everything was papered with them, but these were works of art and not relatives or whoever was pictured on the others.

Amanda continued to talk, but I was distracted by the surroundings so I barely noticed. That was rude, but there was a lot to see. Besides, she was in a torrent of talk and didn't want to be interrupted.
