THIRD-PERSON POV

Laura sat in the living room going through some of her stuff when she heard a rushing footstep, and she quickly hid her things before the front door was pushed open with Emery rushing in

“Emery?”

“Mom, you need to protect me?” Tears were on her eyes as she stared at her mother, who looked confused.

“Honey, please tell me what’s going on?” She glanced at the locked door, then at her daughter.

‘What could be wrong?’ She wondered.

“I don’t want to go with him, mother, he’s a monster. Please protect me.” Emery crutched down on the floor, holding her mother’s legs as she cried.

She can’t be mated to him in any way, he can’t be his mate, she just can’t accept it.

“Honey, please tell me what’s going on?” Laura asked, kneeling in front of her daughter:

“I can’t mother, I just can’t. I have to leave quickly, I need to run away.” Emery stood up, rushing upstairs, when her mother gripped her hand, pulling her back.

“You’re making me worried, Emery, what’s going on?” Laura asked, and Emery looked away from her, bursting into more tears.

A loud knock came in on the door, and Emery’s heart leaped up in fear. She stared at her mother and shook her head. “No mom? Please don’t open up.”

Laura stared at her daughter confusedly, she isn’t saying anything to her, and it worries her.

“Please mother!” Emery begged, and Laura took her lips in, not knowing what to do at the moment.

The knock came in again, and this time followed by an annoying voice, “Will somebody open up for me?”

Laura quickly rushed to the door after hearing her other daughter's voice and opened it for her to come in.

“Emery, what was that?” Emilia asked the moment she walked in.

“Your sister has been crying ever since she got back,” Laura said, and Emilia frowned.

She still can’t believe what she heard back at the party, The brutal man is her sister’s mate?

“Are you just going to cry, or you intend to escape?” She asked, and Emery shot her eyes at her.

“What?”

“You don’t want him, I know, so why aren’t you running away?” Emilia walked towards her and helped Emery up.

“I know we hate each other, but that doesn’t mean I want you dead. He won’t accept your rejection because he’s a cold-hearted man, so running away will be the best,” she said, and their mother stood in their middle.

“Rejection? Emery, have you found your mate?” Laura asked.

“No time for explanations, mother, come on, Emery, let’s go!” She held her sisters hands, pulling her upstairs, and their mother followed suit, asking questions.

“What’s going on?”

“Ok mom, Emery found her mate, but he’s the brutal man… Great Alpha Kaiser and…” Emilia explained all that happened while Emery packed her bags.

Laura let out a deep gasp before shaking her head, “She can’t leave!”

“What mother? Do you want her dead?” Emilia asked, looking pissed.

“He’s going to find her,” Laura said.

“Until then I would already have a baby for the human, so he can’t take me.” That’s her plan, going over to the human world and finding someone who would get her pregnant and when he finds her, he won’t be able to take her with him and reject her instead.

“You said he’s the great Alpha Kaiser; then what makes you think he won’t catch up with her so quickly?” Laura asked, holding Emery’s hand.

“Sweetheart, don’t forget what you promised me and…” Laura was caught up with a loud knock on their door.

Both Laura and Emilia shot their eyes at Emery, “Leave through the back!” Emilia suggested, and Emery nodded.

“Emery?”

“This is the least you can do for me, mother, if you want me to be happy, then please let me do this,” Emery said with her eyes still watery.

Laura glanced at her eldest daughter and sighed, “We will delay them for you”

She quickly hugged her mother before leaving through the back door. The weather was so cold as the night became darker, making it hard for her to see, but with her adrenaline hitting her, it’s making her want to flee faster.

She decided to take the woods and kept on running as fast as she could. Fuck! She would have gone with a horse instead.

Her legs were moving fast, and she bet if she were to have a wolf, then she would have been out in no time. Suddenly she felt the presence of someone around her, and she cranked her head backwards but saw no one.

She kept running, ignoring the nostalgia feeling when she got to a spot and saw herself falling off the cliff.

“Ahh!!”

A mighty hand grabbed her waist quickly, pulling her backwards, and he said, “I got you, mate!”

She felt relaxed, letting the tingles and sparkles run through her before realizing the situation she was in.

Oh boy, she has been busted!!
